Ever feel like you can fly?

Had an awesome workout today!
I swam for 300 yards (12 laps), then ran for 35 minutes. Then did a lower body workout. Once I got home I felt such an adrenalin rush or something. Pre-coffee and I was already dancing around. I can always tell when I start to get hyperactive because John gets the funniest look on his face, like he’s buckling down for the ride!

Maybe it was seeing the sun this morning, too – even though it is pretty freaking cold here! Hellooooooo March???

I feel very fit. Fabulous, fit, and 40!!
I know I can improve lots, but I really am pleased at all I can do. I am getting excited to do the sprint triathlon. If I like it, maybe an olympic distance one next year! But, I am getting way ahead of myself LOL!

So joining the Y was a good decision for sure. I am pushing myself harder, which is a good thing. Plus actually talking to new people isn’t so bad, either!

I need to figure out some snack schedule for the workouts. I have to eat something before I work out, since it is too long for me to go without eating from the night before with this intensity of exercise. But, I don’t want my full brekkie before I go. Trying to find some calorie balance there. I have been having 1/2 a balance or Zone bar (approx 100 calories), but I may actually eat the whole thing, since I have been starving when I get back home. Don’t want to make my breakfast smaller, though – but I might just be being a baby about that LOL! I’ll just have to play around with it a bit.

several yoga people swear by smoothies with protein powder before workouts. They actually put them in mason jars (glass jar, metal screw on lid) and then bring them to class. They drink part of it before they come and bring the rest for after. They say this tides them over until they get home.

If I am up early enough – I eat eggbeaters (1/2 cup which = 2 eggs) omelet. No cheese, no veggies – just the protein. It does not cause any GI ‘things to happen’ and seems to hold me. When I get home – I eat a full breakfast. Because I am going straight home.

when I used to exercise and then go straight to other things – I packed yogurt/fruit and nuts to eat right after. I am very vulnerable to food right after a workout. Can NOT do something like stop at the grocery store without putting myself in peril.

How many servings of protein are in your Zone bar? Because I (me personally) feel strongly about feeding my body protein before and after workouts.

Since, as you say, you are pushing yourself harder now, perhaps you can now eat those extra calories?

Cool to hear how you got a rush from your workout!

    Holy moley, what a workout!
    And energy afterwards.
Doesn’t it feel great to be fabulous, fit ,and 40!
I don’t fear being 40 anymore, because I so much healthier than in my late twenties and 30’s.
