Sitting on my hands

I did not get enough sleep last night, so I am now sitting on my hands to keep from munching.  I ate really well yesterday, so that was a big victory, and I have done fine so far today, but those night time – I’m really tired – give me a snack feelings are here today.  Not giving in, though.

Still managed a good workout at the Y this morning, although I think I am still a bit tired from Saturday’s 40 mile bike ride.  I decided against running today and opted for more biking! LOL

So, 1/2 hour warm up walk, then my lifting workout:

Barbell deadlifts:

10 x 45 pounds

10 x 75 pounds

10 x 80 pounds

10 x 80 pounds

Dumbbell shoulder press:

3 x 10  @ 20 pounds.  I tried the 25# dumbbells on the last set, and couldn’t quite get them going.

Wide grip lat pulldown

1 x 10  50 pounds

1 x 10  55 pounds

1 x 10  60 pounds

Dumbbell lunges

3 x 10  25 pound dumbbells

Stability ball crunches

3 x 15

FYI – this routine takes me about 25 minutes ish, with a couple warmup sets without weights.

Next workout starts the lower reps and moving the weights up again.  I will be glad to change things up in a couple weeks with the next section of NROLW.

Then I did 60 minutes on the bike.  I was quite sweaty when all was said and done.

It’s really hard not to justify eating a lot more when I exercise hard.  While I do eat more on lifting days, it is not carte blanche for endless snacking.

I’m just the opposite when I’m working out regularly; I equate anything I put in my mouth with how much energy and effort it takes to burn that many calories. There’s no way a handful of chips is worth 30 minutes on a bike or jogging a mile. Conversely, when I’m not working out, I seem to feel like I can eat anything I want. Weird.

I have to chime in on the tiredsnacking 🙂
    Husband traveling.
    Im exhausted.
It appears the sugar in the house (and in the stores) has grown lips with which to call my name 🙂

I usually have a big protein shake after lifting which seems to take care of the extra calories I need on those days. Helps keep from getting into that midset where I think I can eat cookies for calories instead 😛

40 miles on the bike…you’re my biking guru. If the freaking weather would cooperate, I might actually get out again sometime this spring *sigh*

Your lifting routine makes me smile, especially the “quite sweaty” part! LOL I would THINK you’d be sweaty after that 🙂

Yeah, food days…had one of those in the car ride home from L’ville on Sunday. 7 hours in a car with fruit, 3 Musketeers and baked Doritos. Oh the conversation going on in my head….

What a workout! I’m impressed. And boy do I understand the tired eating. I’ve been battling that for the last few days.

So I’m wondering a few things….did you research and come up with your own free weight workouts yourself or did you have help? It is something I’d like to do but am totally intimidated by it. I would also love to run but my knees give me so much grief after my cardio kickboxing class that I’m not sure I can. Do you have any problems with yours and if so, how do you manage it?
You’re very inspiring! Glad I found you!

I totally have the same issue with snacking when I am tired. I can probably go back through my food journal and point out the nights that I didnt get enough sleep based on the number of points consumed the next day!

Great workout – agree with the tired snacking thing. Not so bad post workout if the snacks are healthy ones!

I do think that it is important to have extra calories when you are working out hard and that some of those can be yummy indulgences but I also think that paying attention to when you eat and getting that protein in right after a workout helps you feel less starved.
