Out with the old, in with the new.

Yeah!  Football!  We grocery shopped yesterday. That meant we didn’t need to go after bagels, so we could bike there.  It was nice weather for biking, a little foggy, but not cold.  I was hungry by the time we got to Panera Bread!  It’s about 8 miles each way.

French toast bagel and coffee.  So good!

Fueled by carbs, we started to push the ride on the way home.  I decided to really go for it for the last 1.5 miles or so.  John was following me with the bike computer and he said we topped out around 18 miles an hour.  I was breathing really hard by the time I careened into the driveway LOL!  Felt awesome, though.  I just kept thinking about how fast I could go if I had a road bike.

After showering – I am all set up for football!

I do have to work, but I can do that with the game on in the background.

Lunch before the game:

lunch

Chicken wrap with a Flatout wrap.  Cedar’s lemon hummus and lettuce tucked in there.  Tasty.   Plus a super juicy red pear.

I am so concentrating on eating well today.  Sundays are really challenging for me, for whatever reason.

Those Broncos, I tell you – cardiac team for sure.  They won in the last 20 seconds!  Unbelieveable.

winnersGo team!!   Looks like I will lose my weekly picks, though, and have to take John out for dinner 🙁

Latte snack  – woohoo!

Out with the old and in with the new:

I am embarrassed to show the wear and tear on these running shoes!  I desperately needed new shoes.

Used my Dick’s gift certificate to purchase these new Sauconys.

They are so comfy.  I was looking at a pair of Asics, but the Sauconys have a wider toebox, which is wonderful for wide feet.  Plus the heel is a little lower, so no rubbing.  Took them for a 1 mile spin tonight and I loved them!!  I had a real bounce in my step and my feet felt very cushioned.  I am a Saucony convert now!

Yummy dinner and one of my favorites!

dinner

Seawatch clam strips.  These were baked in the toaster oven and come out all crispy.  So good.

Question:  Do you change out your workout shoes on a regular basis?

Wow, you really needed new shoes! I hear you are supposed to change them out every 6 months or so, depending on how much you workout…I’d say you might need to change yours out sooner with the amount of running that you do! I’m on my second pair, but only because the first pair I bought wasn’t very good and I needed more support for running. Mine still look and feel great (they are Asics) so I think they’ll be with me for quite a while!

As far as biking 8 miles and back for breakfast – you have done such a good job incorporating exercise into your daily routine, and I am so inspired by and aspire to be like you!

I am terrible about changing my shoes, and I’ve tried to get better about it, but to no avail. I always wear them out till there’s no cushioning at all anymore.

I LOve love love my Asics! My daughter swore by them in highschool cross country so i naturally went for them when i started running . I’m on my third pair of Gel-Equations. Feels like i’m floating on a cloud. I can always tell when they are starting to wear down. I don’t quite make 6 months with a pair. I may have to try Saucony next time just for the heck of it!

I am a saucony girl all the way! For the exact same reasons that you mentioned. I need some new ones too–which ones did you get?

That sounded so fun pushing yourself at the end of the bike ride! I must get my bike repaired!

Yay for new running shoes!! I’m a huge advocate of getting new ones frequently after I realized my hip injury was likely a result of not getting new shoes every 6 months like I’m supposed to. I have sauconys too, I love them 🙂 I used to have asics, but I find the sauconys are a little more “stable” so my feet aren’t rocking around as much.

I need to start taking bagel breaks during my bike rides, it would inspire me to go out a lot more often! 😛

Our Chicago Bears SUCKED! But my husband still loves his football! I can only watch about 1/2 a game though 😀

I am horrible about changing my shoes and I know its bad for your feet to wear shoes too long!

I’ll have to check out Saucony – I usually lean towards Nike.

I like your new kicks! I do try to change my shoes about every 8 months to a year. I know it’s not ideal, but I try to do it before I’ve burnt out my treads or if I don’t feel the cushion anymore. I am an Asics fan; they have worked the best for me so far.

    Loving your dinner!!

Great shoes – I am a Saucony girl too. I need a new pair also… hard to believe how fast you wear them out when you run a lot. I am running a half marathon on Sunday, then I’ll get a new pair (could be asking for trouble to run a race in brand new shoes)…

I only have one pair of running shoes and one pair of fitness shoes. I buy new ones as soon as I feel they don’t fit right anymore.
