Livestrong day, bagels and challenges

LIVESTRONGDAY

LIVESTRONG Day is the Lance Armstrong Foundation’s 1-day initiative to raise awareness of cancer issues on a global level and in communities across the country.
You can wear something yellow, cook/eat something yellow, participate in any events in your area, or get a health check.

Today was my day for a Pap test.  15 minutes can save your life!  Don’t forget to schedule your mammograms and Pap tests as these 2 types of cancers have great survival rates when caught early.

Even though it is not an official bagel day, I wasn’t lifting, so asked John if he wanted to bike to breakfast.  It’s the start of my weekend, so what the heck?  We went on a chilly ride.  40 degrees!  It really is getting close to the time we will hang up the bikes 🙁

This is downtown for some reason.  Not sure what it is, but it’s cute!

And then there is that big straw bear… 😉

Had a wonderful warm mug of coffee when we got there

Plus bagel deliciousness!

Look – it’s like the parting of the Red Sea in food form!

The rest of the day has been snacky and not the best of eating.  Sigh….

First check-in for Steve’s Hot 100 challenge!

My posted goals were as follows:

1. Duathlon in October.  Signed up and ready to go!
2. Limit the number of eggnog lattes this year to 2 or 3.  Not out yet, phew
3. Keep a redline of weight in mind to not go over during the holidays.  Doing okay with that.
4. Complete the New Rules of Lifting for Women.  Finished stage V
5. Enjoy time with family during the holidays.  Spent some this week!

I am adding a few new ones as well:

6.  Better organization of time to be productive.

7.  Do some freelance writing.

8.  Run at least 2 more official 5K races this year.

I am hoping the rain holds off for tomorrow.  We are supposed to go and check out the course for my duathlon, as the road is supposed to be marked now.

Have a great night everyone!

The hay bear is cute – with all the hay bales around here, I can’t believe I’ve never seen something as creative as that!

Good job with your Hot 100 goals! Hope you have a great weekend!

Helloooo, my east coast twin! Guess what I had for dinner? Broccoli, beef, and rice, in a kinda sorta asian sauce! The power of suggestion! And this “The rest of the day has been snacky and not the best of eating. Sigh….” I had EXACTLY the same thing happen today, and when it does happen, I wonder why, and I always hear you saying ‘I was kind of snacky.’

Thanks for sharing ‘the thrill of victory’ as well as ‘the agony of defeat.’ LOL I think the defeat is just as encouraging to me as the victory. I just re-read your triathlon post. I guess if Lori can have a ‘snacky’ day, and run a triathlon, I will be okay.

It is funny, I just nibble on days like that and don’t know what else to call it but snacky. I figure if I can keep those days to a minimum I’ll be fine, but they do happen!

I have done a bit before on several subjects like real estate and gardening. I just need to get back into doing that.

Good job on your Hot 100 so far Lori.

I want to thank you for having the 30 day challenge in Sept. It started me keeping motivated and on track and between your challenge and the Hot 100, I have now lost 6 lbs since the start of Sept. That is so thrilling to me as I had been stalled for more than 6 months!

Thank you so much for putting a link to your tri page. I don’t know how I missed it. I have been noticing that my browser isn’t responding right and I most often don’t get new blog posts showing up until the next day and sometimes not at all.

I’m sad you (and I) will be hanging up the bikes soon. So what’s your winter sport or choice?

Duathlon…When I see this word I think of Batman and Robin for some reason. You’ll rock it like it rock all the other challenges/goals you set up for yourself.

Re: freelancing, do you do photography, too, or are you “just” writing?

I would love to do photography, but I would need better equipment and a bit more talent LOL!

Winter sport of choice is lifting and dvds, although I will run when there is no precipitation.
