Netflix and comfort foods

I never thought there were people who didn’t know what Netflix is!  The ads are so ubiquitous, but guess that is just the US.  I love that not only get you get movies, but you can get exercise DVDs, documentaries, classics, TV series, etc.  Not to mention the instant download to watch movies on the PC!  Guess I should get something from them for the endorsment….

I am glad you are all liking the videos!  Wish the quality was better, but it is my digital camera after all.  Of course, too fine of a quality and you will really see me in my morning state!  Note the hat will almost always be on in the mornings 🙂

Rainy day today, so no biking to bagels.  I caught myself almost starting to drive to the Y, as I have biked to my new gym since I joined there and it was weird to drive!  I had to get John so we could have our bagel.

Mmmm….. don’t you want some?

At the coffee shop, I spied my pink item for the day!

pinksoap

A bar of pink handmade soap!

Work today was slow.  It always seems like when I breeze through a day, the next day is full of tough files and my productivity takes a nosedive.   Weird.   It was chilly and damp, so I felt like something warm and comforting for lunch and decided on this:

I added some protein powder and did my blueberry layering technique (patent pending).

This really was comforting and warming!

Afternoon snack was a new (to me) Larabar flavor:

For some odd reason, this bar really, really reminds me of a raspberry zinger.  Think it is the coconut texture.  I used to eat those a lot.  I remember the good old days when a Charlie Brown special came on TV and they were always sponsored by Dolly Madison.  I’d say I was dating myself, except I have my age posted right on the sidebar anyway 😛

I had trouble deciding on what to eat for dinner, and decided on a wrap with sauteed broccoli, chicken and some Laughing Cow spread.

Looks boring, but quite tasty 😀

If the weather is nice tomorrow, I will take you on a bit of the bike path via video 😀

Question:  Ever have Dolly Madison treats? Which one was/is your favorite?

Oh, good ol’ Zingers! I loved the chocolate ones as a kid.

And I adore Netflix! If I only had the time to watch everything in my queue…We’ve got the Roku box hooked up to our TV, so we can watch stuff in our “view now” queue. It’s great for entertaining the kids now & then, and I’ve used it for doing video workouts.

Got to say, I really like your photo of something pink every day idea! Nice way to spread breast cancer awareness!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting about post-tri life. I haven’t been swimming since my tri, either. I really like swimming, although the lap swimming was starting to get a little boring to me. (And the pool is not at my gym, so it’s always been a bit of a stretch to get even one swim per week into my schedule.) Are you planning to do more tri’s next year? Are you worried about dropping the swimming at all, or are you just planning to pick it up again next year?

I would like to do the same triathlon next year. I will likely just do open water swimming and take my chances with weather to train. I don’t know how well pool training really helped me. I would like to do some bike races next year, or at least some kind of organized ride. And maybe the duathlon again if I like it LOL!

I had bagels from Eistein Bagels for the first time at my running meetup for Crohns and Colitis. Awesome bagels. I will warn though, that one bagel I have read is equal to 4 pieces of bread. Hmm they are soo good though!
How do you sautee the broccoli. I starting having more broccoli, but the quick kind, I just put it in the microwave.

I love Einsteins! We don’t have any here, but we used to go in IL. I actually am not concerned too much about how carby bagels are. I love them and work them in. It’s all about balance!

The broccoli is super easy. I just use a tsp of coconut oil in a small fry pan and toss in the broccoli with some seasoning. Cook over medium high heat tossing until it gets some roasted marks on it and is as tender as you like. Takes maybe 10 minutes.

Haha, maybe you can be the Canadian rep for Netflix? 😛

That bagel pic is EPIC. You’ve also reminded me that I still need to try cream of wheat. Is it a lot like oat bran?

Oooh, I adore cream of wheat, I eat it all the time but feel a little guilty because I know it would be healthier to eat oatbran or oatmeal… everytime I go into a new grocery store I look for the whole grain cream of wheat, but I never find it.

I’m in Canada, and I’m a member of zip.ca (same premise as Netflix for Canadians)… LOVE IT!

Catching up, Lori~ I love my netflix. I wonder about that box Pubsgal wrote about because when I try to watch instantly on my computer, it keeps stopping because my ‘computer has slowed’. Also my TV screen is bigger and it would be fun to watch stuff on there.

I don’t think we ate Dolly Maddison as a kid. I think it was hostess and I loved those ‘snowball’ things. Also loved the pies as a teenager, and I am still VERY tempted to buy those pies when I see them in the store–half crust and half chemical goo-yumm! But my favorite was the Ding Dongs–who made those? Ewww, enough junk food talk. It sure would be easy to revert to old habits…

My fav is moon pies……i know Dolly Madison doesn’t make them. I also like those little strawberry shortcake rolls not sure who makes them though. And those little powdered donuts……..uuuughh…..But food does NOT taste as good as thin feels! Right?!Thanks so much for your comment on my blog. I always look forward to them.

I think the thing i’m trying to get from a video work out is the feeling of being in a class without actually being in a class. I have a copy of that workout cd coming from Amazon as the copy i had in the pic was from Net Flix. It will be sufficent to get me lifting again i think.

You know if i worked out as much as you do i wouldn’t worry about the carbs or calories in those bagels either! 🙂 Just enjoy and you eat so healthy all the rest of the time. And thats balance to me!

I have never tried anything Dolly Madison that I can recall. I do love the coconunt cream pie Larabar which is strange because for years I hated the texture of coconut.

Ohhhh….those raspberry zingers…yummy! My darn hubby had the nerve to bring some home a few weeks ago. I just starred at them and wanted to gobble them up. As he was eating a package he even had the nerve to put one in front of me in some twisted attempt to be nice and share. Argh! Have I mentioned he is one of my biggest challenges on this journey. Anyway…I shoved that darn little sugar filled booger into the garbage disposal! I may have to try that Lara Bar.
