Eats and notes on reviews

After today’s workout, I came home to protein pancakes.  I left out the protein powder, as I need to be careful with calorie intake this week with the lessening workouts.  I usually burn 600 calories or more on hard workout days, and today was only 300.  Need to account for that!

Got right to work and very busy.  I certainly can’t complain about lack of work this week!  I had a fun lunch combo.  I’ve been all about pumpkin lately, so I had it with lunch:

Oikos vanilla yogurt with pumpkin, Grapenuts (just for you Steve!) and Craisins.  This bowl had a wonderful texture to it and great flavor contrasts.  Yum!

John brought me a latte in the afternoon with a secret ingredient:

Creme de menthe!  With his homemade chocolate sauce on top.  I love my hubby.  I continued the chocolate theme with an Attune bar:

(Note the laziest cat in the world sleeping in the background). I love the Attunes because they are yummy, for one, and portion controlled.  90 calories in most of the bars.  That’s a little easier for me than portioning out dark chocolate chips.

Pink item of the day:

It’s that time of year when I start drinking several cups of tea in a day.

Dinner was a ground turkey burger and one of those Steamer bags of veggies.  I really love pan sauteed or roasted veggies because of the carmelization that gives them flavor, but these were pretty good.  Lightly sauced with cheese (always a good thing).

A-1 sauce for dippin’!

Just taking care of some blog business here.  I like to give reviews of products on my site, whether I purchase the product (which is usually the case) or if a company happens to provide me with a sample.  I also always try to be very clear when it was a sample provided by a company. That doesn’t always mean the review is going to be  positive.  I feel that I am honest about all things in my weight loss and fitness, including the times I struggle or fall on my face.  I feel the same way about being honest in how I perceive the things that I try.  I am not going to say something is great if it isn’t to me.  That doesn’t mean others won’t love it.  I am just  giving my opinion.  I certainly am not in any way trying to undermine a company if I don’t like something.  I would never be downright mean or bashing about something.  It just means it wasn’t right for me and I explain why.  I recently received an unpleasant email from a company whose product I was less than favorable on.  I really don’t feel that I need to apologize for that.  I know that the readers of this blog appreciate me as I am and how I present myself and expect nothing but the truth from me.  ‘Nuff said.

Bagel day tomorrow!!

Sorry to hear you got a mean spirited email from a company. Sounds like you still had a good day though. Your food always looks so yummy. I’ve not seen the attune bars but then I’ve not really looked for them, will have to next time I’m at the store.

Seriously, the company emailed you? Hello, it’s YOUR blog and YOUR opinion! I very much appreciate your honest reviews and because you are willing to say when something isn’t great, your reviews really mean something to me.

Now, those Attune bars – I want to try one after reading about it here!

Wow! It’s really unfortunate that a company would send a negative email like that… especially considering that your readers are not idiots and won’t have a hard time figuring out which company it was. Even if I was still willing to try a product based on a not-so-rave review from you since I do have a mind of my own, I certainly would not give that company’s products a try once I found out that they were so petty as to email a lovely person such as yourself unpleasant remarks for being honest. We value you, Lori. Thank you for your integrity. Other people could learn for your example.

Hmmm, interesting. I for one am glad that you are honest. And I am dying to try an attune bar too. I get to go to Whole Foods this week, and I hope I will find them there.

That’s terrible about the mean email! I appreciate your honesty and even if I hear that someone doesn’t like something that doesn’t mean I won’t try it myself. How rude!

That latte looks delicious! I’d love for my husband to bring me one of those! 🙂

Personally, I’m sometimes surprised companies are willing to send their products for bloggers to try. They better be confident that it’s damn good, otherwise they’re likely shooting themselves in the foot 😛

I don’t have to worry about that though – no companies are willing to send stuff to Canada! 😛

I think that you need to be true to yourself. And the companies need to realize that if they send their products to you then there is a risk that you won’t love it!!

I’ve not done reviews yet, partially because that’s not really part of my focus, and partially just because of what you described!!

I can’t believe they sent you a mean email – of course, you have a right to your opinion.

And that latte looks so good and I don’t even drink lattes! I think I’m just COLD!
