Running for me and beer?

Thanks for you comments on my musings earlier LOL! Back to regularly scheduled programming…..

Woke up too early again today.  It was a little after 6:00 and I went to bed  after 11:30.  I really do better with 7 hours of sleep, so why does my body persist in waking up early?  Anyway, I just got up and had an early start to my day.  Cooked up some protein pancakes.  Since I can’t be tall, I thought I would stack my breakfast high!

Again, dark for breakfast!  Weird….

Worked for an hour and it warmed up to about 45, so it was time to get in a run.  I decided on a ‘me’ run today.  I went out without a watch, and just put on the Sweeney Todd soundtrack and let my body tell me how fast it wanted to go.   I sped up when I felt like it and slowed down when I wanted to.  I did 3.2 miles and felt very refreshed afterwards (and super sweaty).  I spent so much time basically since March having  fairly regimented fitness routines to train for all my events, so it feels good now to relax a little and just enjoy flexing my fitness, so to speak.

In my effort to get the cereal out of the house, I incorporated it into lunch 😀  Yum.  There is cereal under there, I promise!

Kat asked for a macro of my ring – and here it is:

This is actually now my wedding band.  John and I had channel set diamond bands that matched.  Both of us have had problems with rings being too loose, especially in colder weather.  John had taken to wearing his ring on his pinky, and low and behold, one day it wasn’t there and we couldn’t find it anywhere.  We retraced as many steps as we could think of in the previous day, but to no avail.  John was actually more upset about it than I was.  I would rather lose a ring than lose him, know what I mean?  Anyway, we had been contemplating new bands, and really wanted one with a celtic knot design.  Couldn’t afford the ones we really liked, though.  On a trip to Colorado to visit John’s folks in early 2008, we shopped at ArtMart in Boulder (which is a cool place) and we saw these rings there.  $20 each!  We both loved them and figured they would be good bands in the interim until we can get some gold ones (maybe for our 15th anniversary).  It’s so funny because we both get so many compliments on these rings than we ever got on our other bands. Go figure.

It’s my weekend starting tonight, so John and I had a little celebration:

We split this beer – cheers!

weekend

I look so tired in this picture.  Guess that is because I am LOL!  The beer is good.  Hints of pumpkin and spice.  Dinner was a stirfry made with a batata, which is a Mexican sweet potato.  I’ll do a GVE on it tomorrow in detail.  It tastes kind of like a chestnut, but has the texture of a potato.  Kicked it up with some chopped seranno peppers, too.  Bring on the heat! Fun!

In true weekend decadence fashion, we ate in the living room on the couch with the TV on.  Sometimes it just feels good to be really casual.

I am so happy it’s the weekend!  It feels so great to be free for a couple days.  I am just about done with that soap order.  I’ll finish up the last 2 batches tomorrow.  Then I need to get a couple pumpkins to carve if I can still find some around.

pink1028

Pink item of the day!  Only a couple more days in October for this.

I am going to have a relaxing night with my 10 candy corn kernels, some tea, and Project Runway (if I can stay awake for it….).

I am shaking things up with the football dinner and am having John take me out for breakfast instead!  Hopefully we can bike there in the a.m.

Question:  Do you ever eat in front of the TV?

I’ve never been a big fan of flavored beer, merely because it either tastes like a wine cooler mixed with beer or too malty for my taste…but I *love* me some pumpkin and spice!! :o)

Your macro setting on the camera is A.MA.ZING – it’s awesome!

As for the question of the day – most of the time, we eat in front of the TV. Pnut usually eats before Hubs or I do, and when we eat, the other one has usually eaten (I work late and when he’s travelling, I’ll eat sitting on the couch…which happens to be in front of the TV!) It’s not the healthiest, but I watch what I’m eating pretty well. ;o)

10 candy corns?!!! You are my HERO!!!! That is some serious self control 🙂

Love your ring and your pics! I’m still fooling around with my settings to find which works best. Do you use the regular macro setting or the digital macro? I never knew there was a difference until I was reading through my instructions last night!

My camera has macro and super macro – not sure if one or the other is digital. Regular shots are done with macro – really close shots (like my ring) are done on super macro. I would love a super high end camera, maybe some time in the future.

The candy corn – it’s doled out by my husband LOL! I have him keep it out of reach and ask for it. Otherwise I would probably just inject it right into my veins 😀

I do worse – I often eat in bed! If you see oatmeal on my blog, I can guarantee you it was eaten while still half under my covers. Can’t do that with waffles though – syrup is hard to wash out 😛 Otherwise, my “dining table” is in front of the TV anyways, so it just depends on the ease and messiness of whatever I’m eating.

I think the story of your rings is super cute!! It’s a gorgeous ring too, a very unique wedding band 🙂

I only eat in front of the tv–oh, except I don’t have a tv now. But my dining room is now my sewing room, so I always eat on a ‘tv tray.’ So I either read, or watch videos or something like that.

i have to make me some of those pancakes again soon, and I swear I am going to try to make your blueberry topping!

Mmmm, pumpkin beer – I don’t think there is much I don’t like when it comes to pumpkin!

My hubby and I have sterling silver wedding bands too. He still wears his and I swapped mine out for a thin white gold one (was tired of the tarnish lol)

Very interested in hearing about the batata and where I might find one?

I usually eat dessert, if anything, in front of the TV. Sometimes, my dh and I will watch a movie on Saturday and eat dinner while we watch it – decadent, just as you said 🙂

    Have a great weekend Lori.

Always eat in front of the Tv especially since daughter moved out several years ago. When we first got married i was a stickler for eating at the table but my hubby corrupted me. 🙂

Love the ring too. But i’m a sucker for anything celtic…..

  7. Miz

its funny —the say it is the ABSOLUTE WORST THING TO DO yet I always eat in front of the tv 🙂

I think if I brought the entire package or whatever WITH ME Id eat mindlessly but I bring a plate which has what Id eat at the table anyway 🙂

Im a role model for nothing,

    Miz.

Beer! Yum. You look a nice tired in that pic. Actually the word that came to my mind before I read your post was happy, not tired at all. Looks like you’ve had one heck of an October.

Love your ring a lot! We only eat in front of the tv on movie night. Every Friday I make homemade pizza, we pick out a kid movie, and the whole family camps out in the living room to watch it together! It’s a lot of fun, and now a little messy since the 2 year old decided he’d rather sit on the floor instead of safely up in his high chair!!

  10. Robin

I love your ring! We wanted to do a celtic knot type of rings when we got married but it just wasn’t in our budget. I hope someday when we go back to Ireland we can get real Irish rings.

haha, “it warmed up to about 45.” Brr! Great job on the run, though. I never eat infront of the TV persay, since I don’t have one in my apartment. Ha! I do have a portable DVD player, and sometimes I’ll eat popcorn when I watch movies or tv shows. I don’t get much time to watch though, so it’s only a treat.

The better question for me would be Do you ever NOT eat in front of the TV? My husband has coverted the kitchen table into his pc repair center so we have little tv trays in the living room we eat off of!

  13. Josie

Growing up we ALWAYS ate in the living room in front of the TV. ALWAYS. EVERY NIGHT. We never ate in the dining room – not even for special occasions or holidays.

Now that I’m a mom and I have two kids, we eat at our dining room table every night. (unless we eat out) We try to make dinner a special family time where no matter what’s going on in our lives or how busy we are, we always come together for dinner. I never had that as a kid so I’m glad I can give it to mine and make “home” a happy place for them.

Breakfast instead of dinner can be fun too! Hope you’ve enjoyed it.

I sleep 7 hours a night, less is making me tired, more too 🙂 So I always use my alarm clock even in weekends.

    Meals look great as ever!

Great idea with the run, should really try that some time too.

Thank You for the macro of your ring! I love the ring especially for a wedding band and I love the story behind it too.
I live alone so eating on the sofa in front of the tv is the norm for me.
    It’s my company.
