Staying on track Monday.

Happy Monday everyone!  Or probably Tuesday by the time most of you read this 😀 Don’t forget to enter the cookbook giveaway!

Off to the gym this morning to workout.  It was really weird there today, as I overheard one of the new owners talking about pallbearers and funerals, and the other owner wasn’t there.  That got me thinking about Saturday and how the gym was not open in the morning.  I hope nothing happened, but it was pretty obvious something was wrong.

I did this:

  • Chinups:  2
  • Romanian barbell deadlift:  3 sets of 8 at 75 pounds

Alternating sets:

  • Barbell bench press:  3 sets of 8 at 55 pounds
  • Seated lat row:  3 sets of 8 at 55 pounds

Alternating sets:

  • Reverse lunges with 1 dumbell on shoulder: 3 sets at 20 pounds
  • Arnold press: 3 sets of 10 with 10 pound dumbbells
  • Plank:  3 sets with 90 second holds.

I was going to then walk on the treadmill, but then a woman came in crying and hugging the owner.  I felt so uncomfortable working out in this atmosphere and it felt disrespectful, so I decided to go home.  I checked in the paper, but didn’t see anything.  I don’t know them well enough to really ask much, you know?

I made some Cream of Wheat for breakfast:

brekkie1214

  • 35 grams of Cream of  Wheat
  • 1 ultraripe banana mashed
  • cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon cashew butter
  • 1 tablespoon blackberry jam

Unpictured cafe au lait on the side…  So tasty.  This is a new bowl, too.  A local potter made it!  I love pottery. I burned my tongue on this, too, because I was so hungry.  I actually did not eat a snack preworkout today.

Thinking about finishing the year strong.  I know Christmas is in there, but there is no reason I can’t make an extra effort on the other days.  I am starting to get lazy. I set 2 mini goals for today.  One goal was to not snack except for my planned snack.  This is really hard for me as working at home I can go get a few chips or some nuts if I so choose at any time.  And I have gotten into the habit lately of munching.  No wonder I can’t get off the last 10 pounds!

My other goal was to have 2 vegetables at lunch and dinner today.  So – lunch was a tuna wrap with lettuce mix, served with a side of baby carrots.

And the most tart kiwi ever!  It was almost like a lemon 😯

I drank a lot of tea today to help keep me from snacking.  It worked pretty well.  I was ready for the planned snack of a latte!

About an hour before dinner, I got really hungry and I told myself that I could have a clementine only.  No nuts or chocolate chips or the like.  So I had one.

I had another giant salad for dinner.  This used up the last of the lettuce, so there won’t be any salads for the rest of the week!

din1214

Lots of protein on this salad.  About 3.5 oz of chicken and an ounce of feta.  And yummy pan sauteed broccoli.  Kermit would be proud of me today 😀

Ornament of the day:

Another horn ornament!  This has a pretty stained glass appearance to it.  I have had this one for a long time and it is one of my favorites.

Question:  Will you challenge yourself to one thing tomorrow?

I love your ‘wrapping paper’ background Lori! Great workout as usual. I’m jealous that you didn’t eat the nuts and chocolate beforehand…I can’t stop – something comes over me…I’m hoping I’ll ‘balance’ myself out ONE day – please dear Lord 🙂 Keep up the great work girl 🙂
Oh and challenge…hmmm -not to ‘beat’ myself up tommorow and get down…let’s see how long that lasts 🙂

    That’s a beautiful ornament, Lori!

Great job on your mini-challenges. I’ll definitely join in for tomorrow. So tomorrow, for my one challenge – I’m not going to have ANY sweets. (Our house is currently stocked with them!) I can do it!

That’s sad about your gym – and you’re right, awkward. Hopefully you will see what happened in the paper tomorrow and can at least offer condolences…it’s so hard to be on the outside and yet be surrounded by it.

As for a challenge tomorrow…only two Dove dark chocolate promises for me, not 4 or 6 like I’ve been having. And if I can’t stop at two, these things may have to go live in my car for a while!

I love pottery too. Pretty blue bowl! I will challenge myself tomorrow because I have to do a presentation and I also want to finish a project with NO procrastinating!

Yummy salad! I like the idea of having a hot vegetable along with the salad.

I love the colors in the horn ornament!

That is weird and uncomfortable about the gym owner. Was he/she a young person. Seems like to be professional they should post a sign somewhere, and try to do the personal stuff in a back room. I don’t mean to be unsympathetic. I’m just always thinking along the lines of what would be best for a business.

The other owner is young, probably mid 30s. I don’t even know if it was this person yet, but it was strange nonetheless. I’ll probably find out more on Wednesday when I go back.

I’m an insanely curious person, I would have had to ask what’s up at the gym!! That does sound weird/sad though. I’d especially feel bad if that’s one of the reasons why the gym was closed on Saturday!

Cashew butter + blackberry jam – didn’t you say that’s your favourite nut butter and jam? It looks especially good today 🙂

Today, I’m going to put my clean laundry away and scrub my kitchen floor. Not weight related, but need to get done!!!

I’m pretty shy, so it is too hard for me to just go up to someone and ask what happened. Although I am very curious. It’s a small town here, so word will get around soon enough.

I do love cashew butter and blackberry jam! I just love cashew butter. It’s soooo good!

Love that ornement! Beautiful! Glad you got some workout in but YIKES on whatever is going on in there. Obviously something happened. I am sure you will hear eventually. Food pics always look good!

  8. Cindy

I just got a few new pottery bowls too! I love earthen ware! it’s just perfect!

that is pretty sad about the gym owner…that would be hard to work out in that environment.

nibbling! I have gotten a handle on it finally but it was one of my biggest issues! especially feeding a baby!

a bite here and a nibble there!
    sheez!

    love your pretty ornament too!

Snacking a huge downfall of mine and if i would stop totally i would surely be at goal by now or at least knocking on the door. If i stick to my three meals a day and snack only on fruit i do quite well and the scale will continue to creep down but sometimes i veer off course and the last thing i want to snack on is fruit especially in the winter.

  10. Alissa

I love your oatmeal bowl! I love all of the pottery stuff that’s out right now. Great job on getting all of those veggies in. I drink hot drinks to keep myself from snacking too- always seems to work!

    Hi Lori!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love yours and everything that you have done to lose the weight. What an encouragement to all! Great ideas and approaches!
My challenge is to get through the work week and finish packing for our road trip to visit family. All the best!

Mmmmm…I love extra-tart kiwi fruit. Actually, I just love kiwi fruit in general, unless it’s gotten a bit mushy. I might need to buy a couple next time I’m at the store; yours look so good!
