Stress eating and scented gifts

Check out the gingerbread cookie recipe if you haven’t already!  I didn’t put nutritional info there because it really will depend on the size of the cookie and whether you use the protein powder or not.

I took last night off from blogging and the internet in general.  Unplugging is a good thing at times!  I had half a post written, but that will go to internet recycling.  Sometimes I feel a pressure to post every night, but then I realize it’s okay not to do it!  I just really enjoy it most times.

It was soooo cold when I got up this morning.  0 degrees F.   I slept in since it’s my weekend!

All layered up!   I love this sweater. John and I got up to put on the coffee pot and have a leisurely breakfast instead of me exercising:

There’s a layer of blueberry sauce on the bottom, too

I blew the snacking today.   I gave in to some stress eating.  Turns out we won’t be refinancing the rental property after all.  I am pretty bummed, but it was a lack of detail reading on my part.  Can’t refinance for 3 years on this house, not 2.  Sigh…..  So many phone calls later and dipping my hand into the honey roasted peanut jar while on hold and such.  It’s okay, though.  I was very upset for a little while, but it’s only  money, right?  There could be many, many worse things.  We just need to hash out a new plan.

Even after eating nuts, I still wanted lunch 😀

Egg salad!  This is one of my favorite sandwiches.  I grew up thinking I hated egg salad, but what I really didn’t like was egg salad with pickles and soggy with too much mayo.  My egg salad is a little more on the dry side.

We got a nice gift from one of our suppliers.  Usually they send candy or nuts or chocolate or something scary, so we looked at the box with some trepidation.  Well, this was inside!  Nice scented things 😀

Will have to see what the other companies send. Fingers crossed they are more like this one!!

Hey, it’s my weekend, right?

Ornament of the day:

Another one I made this year.  John says it looks like a spider, but it is supposed to be a snowflake!

I will give you dinner pictures and end this post – look what happens when I take a day off = epic post!  Is anyone still here??

John’s football dinner that I was required to purchase included a side salad and we split a cheese stromboli.

strom1218

It’s basically a calzone that is rolled up instead of folded over.  I think there is less cheese this way?  Although there was still enough 😆   I am so glad John splits these things with me!

On a side note, is anyone receiving RSS emails from my blog anymore?  They stopped on the 11th and I am getting a feed error that I cannot get rid of for the life of me.  I may have to reburn my feed, I don’t know.  Can you believe I am thinking of taking some PTO just to get my blog cleaned up and organized?? 😆   Now that is a dedicated blogger!

Question: Do you fear food gifts?

I don’t exchange any gifts so I have no fear. Actually someone gave me a card today with a candy cane on it and I gave it away right away.

Loved your long post. Lots of great info. Have a wonderful weekend.

Sorry about the refinance. You’re right-it’s only money. You can always make more. Just a blip on the screen of life…but stressful none the less. hope tomorrow is better 🙂

Hi Lori, I’m seeing your feeds on Google Reader if that helps. Yes, I do dread getting food gifts. When I used to work in an office, my supervisor insisted on keeping all of the candy given to us during the holidays on my desk and it was a nightmare for me to keep out of it! So far this year I haven’t received any food gifts, though.

Sorry things didn’t work out with the rental refinance hopefully you can figure something out. Nice gift. I got a big smile on my face when I saw the Kahlua *big smile*. Hope you have a great weekend and stay warm. I have a sweater just like that but in tan.

Yes, misery loves company! There was fruitcake in the breakroom today. Wouldn’t you think that was the easiest thing in the world to resist? Evidently I have developed an appetite for fruitcake. Seem unable to resist it. I think its the nuts. I’m taking nuts to work with me tomorrow to see if I can ward off the fruitcake…

I LOVE the ornament, and I HAVE to try a bowl of those blueberry oats!

I don’t get RSS emails, but your feed is still showing up in my RSS reader.

I don’t fear food gifts, but I will gladly give them to someone else. Fortunately, that someone else is usually my wife or kids, but I would gladly give it to anyone else. I am not going to eat the food if it isn’t on the program. 🙂

0 degrees!!! YIKES! Been a long time since I was in weather like that! But I remember growing up it. Not sure I want that again!

Hey, on the food, I think as long as you are aware that you are emotional eating, that is key. I have given into to it too BUT I know what I am doing. I talk to myself when the emotional eating possibility starts & if I agree with myself to eat, then I do it. It is when it is out of control & there is no stopping that it becomes a prob. I know you Lori.. well I don’t but based on your great blog, back to it afterwards!

Love the pics as usual & especially that Kahlua! 🙂 Sounds yummy!

I loved your ornament! Stay warm!

I don’t get them anymore but the ones I did get were empty.

I don’t understand about the rental. Does this mean you have to move? Maybe I missed something reading your blogs, I don’t know.

And I thought it was cold here in Holland while it’s much colder where you are.

I don’t blog everyday because English is not my native language and I have to think about sentences and I love reading other blogs so I write every 2 days. And during the day in weekends I don’t spend much time behind my PC and at night usually about 2 hours. I have so many other things I love to do, a day doesn’t have enough hours for me 🙂

No – we don’t have to move, this is our other property we have which is just a home that we rent out. We were trying to refinance it for a lower interest rate.

I probably have some fear of food gifts, b/c when it’s just sitting there, it’s hard not to eat it all at once. For me, I would probably have better luck just throwing it away, b/c to have it around me is just a disaster waiting to happen! Not quite there yet!

Ahhh, we all give in to stress eating sometimes. I got pretty bad there during my move in September. But I think being able to recognize it is always a good sign. Hopefully knowing what it is will give you more control over situation. And you’re right -it IS only money!! I keep telling myself that all I need is enough to eat, sleep and heat my home. Everything else is gravy!

Okay, I’m off to boil some eggs. I want that for lunch!!

Now that I can’t eat gluten a food gift is kind of disappointing. I got a pumpkin roll from the boss at Thanksgiving and I wanted to eat it soooo bad. I gave some to my husband and daughter, some to my parents, and some to my mother in law so it didn’t go to waste! Now chocolates, nuts, and other GF candies I will eat without fear. I should fear gaining 400 lbs. but I don’t!
