Football Saturday and loose skin.

Happy Saturday!  So cold here today.  Sunny and beautiful, but only about 20 degrees.  There are times I am glad for the treadmill, and today was one of them.  I’m all ready to hit the gym as soon as they open here!

For those that ask (or wonder), this photo shows an example of loose skin on my upper arm.  One of my battle scars 100+ pounds later.  I’m still somewhat self-conscious about it, but not enough to keep it covered up anymore.  Drinking lots of water, strength training, and losing slow did not prevent the loose skin (although my upper arms have a nice shape to them from strength training).  You’ll either have it or you wont.  That’s probably the #2 question by email that I get.

It was just a quiet 5-mile run on the treadmill.  No speed work or anything, since it’s my last workout day of the week, which usually means legs are a wee bit tired.  The first 2 miles went fast, but then the batteries died in my player!  That left me to listening to the music station that was on, which happened to be country (double and triple ick!!!).  So, the last 3 miles I couldn’t wait to get through.  Plus, I was thinking about these:

Banana multi grain cereal (sent from Country Organics) and topped with some of the pecan butter I made yesterday and these teeny tiny chips!  Nestle makes these minis, and 1 tablespoon looks like so many more than the 16 regular size chips you get.  Hooray for extra surface area!  And these were absolutely as good as they look 😀

John and I daydreamed over breakfast about New Orleans and where we are planning to eat.  In a city that is all about food, you have to plan your meals as carefully as the activities!

A package arrived for me this morning from Melissa at A better bag of groceries .  I won a giveaway of these items – yay!:

I decided to incorporate the Josephs Pita into lunch.  I mixed together 1/4 cup of cottage cheese with 1/2 scoop (17 g) of vanilla protein powder and some cinnamon, topped the pita and wafer-thin apple slices.  Slid that into the toaster oven.

It was quite good!  Packed full of protein, too 😀   With some brussels on the side.

Then it was off to do some window shopping, which didn’t last long because it’s so freaking cold out!  We decided to hit up Fortunate Cup and have a warm drink.

Plus I brought along a chewy granola bar.

We then looked for some shorts for John.  He needs some for our cruise, since his from summer are too big after losing weight!  It’s hard to find them right now, though.  We struck out there.

Home for dinner, where I had me a hankerin’ for some BBQ chicken salad with the salty feta.  It’s those sweat sessions that make me crave this stuff.  I snacked on some pistachios before dinner, too.

It’s time for football!  2 days in a row, too.  Yay!

Question:  Rooting for any NFL teams this weekend?

You look amazing!! The food looks great too. I am going to have to find those mini chips for when I have a need for a little chocolate.

I have the skin issue. When I lost all my weight prior to having child #3, I had the skin flap belly. Lord only knows how bad it will be when I get back down to a reasonable weight again.

Love the new pics at the top of the blog.

Are you cruising from NO? My sister is doing a trip like that very soon. Maybe it is the same trip.

You look great in your pic. When I lost 136 I had tons of loose skin so I know I will have even more this time. What was I thinking when I regained all that weight???

It looks like there’s a whale on your latte!! I have tried SO many times to do latte art, but I’ve only ever managed to do it by accident 😛

That pita concoction looks fabulous. And boo to country music at the gym. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to work out to that!

Love the pics in the header, and LOVE that pic of you at the top!! I can hardly spot the loose skin, you look downright fabulous!!!! 😀

Not an NFL fan here – college football reigns at our house!

Lori – I’ve got the arm thing too. I think it’s almost unavoidable after losing so much weight. You look amazing and so healthy.

What’s the #1 question people ask you?

Lori, you look great! I got a question about the loose skin too. I always hate to discourage people but I did tell her that for many, a large %, that loose a lot of weight, this is what happens & often the only way to fix it if you really want to go thru it, is surgery. Weight training certainly helps but for some, it really will not fix what 100+ pounds did to the bod. It is all in how much a person wants to get rid of it & if they think the surgery is necessary. In some, it is a must, unfortunately BUT being healthy is most important!

OK, always love the food pics!!! YUM!

Like you, I want my music to survive my in gym cardio cause they play stuff the younger kids like.. not me… I need my 70-80’s rock! 🙂

So exciting this planning for your trip!!!

I wonder if I have lose skin on my upper arms once I’ve lost the weight, my upper arms are 1 off my problem zones. But I have to admit: if you didn’t point it out I wouldn’t have noticed. I looked at the whole picture and thought: wauw she looks great!

I’m a bit disappointed that you didn’t put a picture of your beloved broccoli with the pictures on top of your blog 😆

    Lori,

That granola bar looks scrumptious! Thanks so much for visiting my blog! I’m wondering just as you are how those spreads from Premier can add up to 213 calories. I’ll keep you updated as I actually try them!

First off, your arms look very powerful and buff. Yeah, skin…we’ll compare some day 🙂

Second, I’m with you on the country music. I like the Dixie Chicks and a few other artists (mostly from the 80s…how lame am I?). However, the eye candy…what’s his face married to Nicole Kidman and what’s his face married to what’s her face who ruined a Janice Joplin song a few years back…Blond, tall…doggone it, what’s her name?? Faith Hill, that’s it! Whew! I do, however, really like Tricia Yearwood. Best female country voice out there, I think.

About those brussels…they looked shredded. Please share!

OK, I’m done with my novel.

You look great! I can’t wait to fit into real workout clothes. I’m sure people are tired of my one pink T-shirt. 🙂

I just back from a Mexican Cruise and I only gained an .8th of a pound. Success!

    Have a wonderful time!
