Cold, cold day.

Thanks for the comments on my loose skin pic.  It’s always a little nerve-wracking posting pics like that as I am still a little self conscious about it.  But, that feeling is much less than it used to be.  I will say that over the past year the skin has tightened up a bit, but I doubt that it is going to do any more than that.  I would never trade any of it for having all that weight back, though!  Glad you like the new headers.  There are 3 rotating ones.

I actually got a good night’s sleep last night.  I tend to have trouble sleeping for a bunch of days, then crash and burn, which was last night.  I fell asleep with the lights on, and never woke up when John turned off the lights, set up the humidifer, and turned off the electric blanket.  Good thing he wasn’t an intruder 😯   So I got 8 blissful hours.

So cold today.  It was minus 8 degrees F when we woke up.  It doesn’t look that cold, does it?

Brrrrr…….. Braved the cold and went on the usual bagel Sunday!  Panera still has gingerbread bagels, so I had that along with some craptacular coffee.

There was a sludge of grounds at the bottom of my cup, and unfortunately, that is not unusual for Panera.  But, it’s caffeine and hot at any rate

Shopping at the grocery store after breakfast revealed no strawberries.  Nooooooo!!!!! The Florida freeze and no more berries for a while… sniff.  Frozen berries just aren’t the same.  Good thing there are clementines in season now, so I had some for lunch along with pizza that John made:

Back to work today.  Only a couple weeks left until vacation!! I cannot wait.  Workdays have felt long lately and somewhat stressful when accounts fall behind, like they were today.  Kinda makes me snacky along with my latte:

Then a granola bar….  I was so wrapped up in work that I didn’t fix the chicken biryani that I had planned for dinner, so it meant staring at the fridge for a while.  I was feeling blah about the food today, ever get like that?  Feeling a little unsettled or something that I can’t quite put my finger on?  Couldn’t make up my mind, so decided on the standard go-to egg sammie.

The pear was incredibly juicy.  I should have gotten more than 2 at the store this week.  I’m loving the pears lately.

Gratuitous Pixie picture: This is what happens when it is too cold to go out and do stuff.  Pets can be the source of endless entertainment.  Pixie sleeps like a log, so we decided to decorate her with a fork, the remote and writing utensils:

Nary a whisker moved.  She is such a good sport 😛

Stay tuned for a giveaway this week!  Open to all, too 😀

Question:  Do you have a go-to quick meal?

Minus 8?!?!? Brrrrr!!! Yay for a good night’s sleep. I wish I could get one.

My favorite quickie meal if I can’t decide on anything else is flatbread pizza made w/ a Light Flatout, sauce, 2% cheese, chicken or turkey pepperoni and lots of veggies. Yum.

Will you let me know how you make your nut butters? I attempted today to make some with a combo of almonds, pecans and walnuts. I had a total of 6 ounces, toasted them for a few minutes and put them int he food processor w/ a little maple syrup. It never got at all creamy. Just finely ground. I ended up just giving up and tossing the mess.

You look great in your pics Lori. I wouldn’t have thought anything about your arms — other than that they look really strong — without your comment. Even then, I had to squint to see what you were referring to.

Ohmygaaahhh. I better never come to NY, or I’m swiping Pixie. Too cute.

Dinner still looks awesome! That’s totally something I’d go for in that situation too. Even worse is when I want something, but just can’t figure out what it is, and end up still feeling unsatisfied after I eat.

    Stay warm!!

I hear you on the frigid cold temps…it wasn’t that cold this morning, but it was still freeeeezing (7deg with 15mph winds…I think windchill was around -5 or something). I’m still jealous of your cruise – I hope you take lots of pics and post them for us to see!

I have never eaten that bagel from Panera…my favorite thing there is a turkey sandwich w/ chipotle mayo. Lately I’ve been taking off half of the bread, and getting the mayo on the side so I can control how much goes on. I have heard similar stories about coffee there though!

My go-to meal is (sadly enough) a Lean Cuisine…it’s something I normally have on hand and I know I can always eat it. 🙂 That was tonight’s meal, as a matter of fact – that and a salad. Wheee for excitement. ;o)

That is too funny–decorating Pixie! I have lots of quick go-to meals, because I usually cook too much, and so have left-overs in the freezer. Right now my quick meal is my turkey salad–four ingredients: turkey, lettuce, laughing cow, and cranberry sauce. Yumm. I have to try more of these ‘sandwiches in a bowl.’

I’m glad you got some sleep. I think I’m having some ‘sympathy sleep issues!’ Only getting about 6 hours a night, which is not enough for me.

My healthiest, yummiest and quickest go-to meal is to wrap some tomato, cucumber, feta and a little dab of mayo in a lettuce leaf and chomp that down. Refreshing, quick, guilt-free and totally satisfying. Whether this would work for me in winter remains to be seen, since it’s nice and hot over here in the Southern Hemisphere. Good luck with the cold, Lori! And aaaaaaaawwwwwwwww, what an adorable kitty you’ve got!

Crap, too friggin cold for me!!!!!!! YIKES! Coffee is coffee when it is that cold!

Hey, Panera still has those bagels???? I had a half of one yesterday! I only have 2 more in the freezer so I best check to see if my Panera still has them!!!!

A go to meal for me…. if I don’t have meat defrosted, it is oatmeal with protein powder mixed in… easy to make!

OK, that kitty is too dang cute!!! Wish I could sleep like that. Hormones don’t let me.. UGH! I have to be dead tired & sleep deprived like you wrote about for you.

Love your new headers too! You are the woman!

    Your cat is too cute!

Hey, I wanted to let you know, I tried your egg + laughing cow wrap! Yum yum. Even the hubby liked it! Don’t tell him the wrap was a flax seed one!

    Hi Lori!

I stop by every once in a while and I think you stop by my blog. As I come back today I think I’m going to have to become a follower… 🙂 I LOVE how yummy your breakfasts look with oats and nut butters and such. I’m going to have to try those.

On my second week of C25K and will keep in mind the book you suggested. Never thought I’d be a runner, but I’m really liking it so far … more when it’s done than during, right now. 🙂

Thanks for your constantly encouraging and honest blog. I always enjoy staying for a long read when I haven’t been by in a while.

Oh, and we had 9 degrees last week and thought that was freezing..no complaints now after hearing about your low temps. Of course, today it’s warmed up to 51. I was loving it!

    Hi Lori,

Love your blog!! I am a lover of hot cereal for breakfast and love all the toppings you always put on your oatmeal. I was wondering what kind of pumpkin you use – is it just regular canned pumpkin or is there some special kind I should look for?

    Thanks!
    Cheryl

    Love the dead-to-the-world kitty picture!

I’m coming in late with this, I see, but I love the new set of pics at the top of your blog. What an amazing accomplishment! You look great.
