Friday fun and guest post request!

Weekend!  Put your hands together everybody!  I so wanted to sleep in the morning and go to the gym a little bit later, but the garbage truck woke me up and I couldn’t get back to sleep.  I got up about 15 minutes later than usual.  The gym was pretty quiet today, as usual on Fridays.

  • 10-minute warmup on the stationary bike
  • Chinups: 1 set of 3, 2 sets of 2
  • Barbell squats:  3 sets of 8 at 85 pounds
  • Seated lat rows:  3 sets of 15 at 45 pounds
  • 1-legged dumbbell deadlifts:  3 sets of 10 with 15# DBs
  • Prone Cuban snatch:  3 sets of 15 with 8# DBs
  • Reverse crunches:  3 sets of 15
  • Pushups:  3 sets of 15

This was extra tiring for some reason.  I don’t know why, but I struggled through the weights today.  Then I hopped on the treadmill for 30 minutes with a walk/run combo.  Listened to the Dirty Dozen Brass Band today.  I love them!  You know they are based in New Orleans?  John and I have a dream to own a 2nd place there.  It will take a lot to make that happen, though. Better start playing the lottery

Breakfast was custard cream of wheat!  I mashed up 1/2 a banana and added it to the pot with the water, brought to a boil and added the cream of wheat.  Then I whipped in the egg whites.  Thickened up right nicely!

Topped with chocolate sauce 😯  and peanut butter.  Deeelicious.

Headed over to my rental property to check on the status before the open house and broker open coming up.  My tenant is actually very neat clutter-wise (which is great), but things were just dirty.  Splatters on the walls and grime on things.  I did paint touch ups and told him what needed to happen for open houses, showings, and stuff.  It is extremely hard for me to not tell him how to live until the house sells, you know?  I have no control over whether he wipes off the stove or cleans the mirrors in the bathroom.  I hope it sells fast.  It’s actually a very cute house, a little small, but it has a huge yard and we put in granite counter tops.

I was pretty hungry for lunch when I got back, and grabbed something really quick:  shredded wheat topped with strawberries.  I almost never eat just a bowl of cereal, but it was fast!

Back out for more errands, including a new pair of shoes!  I need walking shoes as mine are all worn out.  I had a gift certificate to Dick’s.  I tried on so many shoes, and actually ended up with another pair of Saucony shoes (on sale!!).

They are running shoes, but so comfy that I am just going to walk in them.  I have to go with what make my feet feel happy, and if they want to be in the running shoes, then so be it. When I slipped my feet into these, I just knew they were the right pair.

Jody – just for you.

Pixie chillaxing on the dishwasher because it’s warm (it’s a portable one).  She wants you all to notice her big feet.

Needed to use up the last of the venison for dinner, so I made a BBQ venison quesedilla with laughing cow, chopped venison and BBQ sauce on a smart carb wrap.

Paired with pan sauteed brussels and the last kiwi.  We need to be very judicious with our shopping this week so we don’t have a lot of fresh produce left before our trip.

I am looking for a few guest posts to use if I can’t get online as much during our trip at the end of the month.  Is anyone interested?  Please shoot me an email at javaqueen01 (at) yahoo dot com.  Sorry for the late request!

Question: Are you brand loyal with shoes?

I have a portable dishwasher too!

As for guest posts, well, I have never done one. I probably wouldn’t know what to say. But if you don’t get anyone to volunteer, let me know. I have one idea for one. Just one.

    Have a super weekend!

Mmmm…nice food pics…everything looks delicious. Pixie is so cute…I don’t let anything with fur in the house, but she is cute to look at.

Prone Cuban snatch still makes me laugh…what a name for a move.

I know – every time I type the name, I wonder what kind of person will end up on my site from that search term LOL!

  3. Alissa

I recently discoved brussels sprouts and I am in love! I’ve only broiled them, so I’ll have to look up other ways to cook them too. Yours look delish!

    Hope your rental sells quickly!

I love Sauconys. They were recommended to me by a friend who was a runner a couple of years ago, and I’ve been buying them ever since. So lightweight!

Ooh, new shoes! They look so pretty and clean, lol! I am not brand loyal, but find that Asics, Brooks and New Balance fit me best. Lately I’ve been wearing what my runner person fit my foot into – and I have to say that the shoe feels like nothing on my foot so I guess he knows what he’s doing. Too bad he’s in Oregon and I’m in Texas…makes for an expensive shopping trip!

Cute shoes. I’m loyal to Reebok, not so much because it’s the brand but because they are always the best fit for my feet. I love the pair I got in the summer, they look goofy as heck but the have the best support and keep my feet, which tend to roll out, stable. They are all terrain with great grip so they’re great for the treadmill as well as trail walking.

Ooh ooh!! I’ll do a guest post!! I’ll try to e-mail one to you by the end of the weekend 🙂 (my weekend that is)

I’m hopefully buying new running shoes today! I find there’s a noticeable difference in pain after a run once I cross that 6-month mark. I currently have sauconys now and will consider getting them again – I loved them!

Oh, I love new shoes – they are the best! I never used to think I was brand specific, but apparently I am…the last three pairs of running shoes I’ve had are Nikes. They just fit me the best, I guess. The Asics I had HURT after a mile, and the Adidas ones always bothered me after the run was done. I’ve never tried Saucony, but Mizuno’s never fit me right either. So…yea. I guess I am. 🙂

I can do a guest post too if you l ike…not sure if I can live up to your own radiance, but I can try! Just let me know if you’d like me to do it!

Loved the kitty picture and your cream of wheat custard looked extra yummy. I thought of you this morning when I was having my oats and pumpkin with nuts and raisins. It sure didn’t look as yummy as you make yours look though.

THX LORI! That kitty is so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on your workout & new shoes! I used to wear Saucony all the time but as I aged & my feet got worse, I had to change. They are great shoes though! My feet just don’t fit in them anymore. Age changes are feet too & mine were bad when I was younger! 🙂

Hope all goes OK for your rental house….

Have you received enough guest post requests? If not, I am willing & if you have a particular subject. I am not a foodie person, meaning I don’t have all that great knowledge like your readers like with pics & such but I could help with a post about something else…..

  11. Kat

Pixie is so cute! Great workout and yummy food too. I am not loyal yet to shoe brand. If they fit well, I will wear em. I bought 2 pair a couple of weeks ago, One was a Brooks, the other was an Asics.

  12. Jane

I wish I was loyal to a pair of shoes because it would mean that I’d found some I really like. I bought new ones last spring, but I’ve given up on them and will be on the hunt soon. It’s hard because I have to find a place that carries wide sizes. Me and your kitty have the big feet in common!

Love your breakfast! I did the same thing with my oatmeal this morning, and I have no idea why! I’ve never drizzled chocolate on my pb/oatmeal before. Must have been some sort of cosmic thing. 🙂

I’m not brand loyal exactly, but I’ve been most pleased with Asics. I try on other types of shoes and even bought some Mizunos. The next pair were Asics again. Not sure if I’m brand loyal or just boring. 🙂

    Have a great weekend!
