Working for the weekend

Woke up to a big change in weather today!  Cold and windy.  Hit the gym for 4 miles on the hamster wheel.  It went by so fast – yay!  I think I like 4-5 miles as just a good solid run where I don’t get too tired, but feel like I got a great workout.

Came home to make some quick-cook steel cut oats made with a mashed nanner and a blob of PB and jelly!

Tasty. : It creeps and leaps and glides and slides across the floor:  Anyone?

John is back at court again today for deliberations.  They had better hurry up and finish! 😯

The weekend cannot get here fast enough!  Today should have been my last work day of the week, but I am going to have to play some catch up tomorrow.  We are getting trained on new software stuff for work, and the training was so superficial that it left a lot of us confused.  So, we could ‘volunteer’ for extra training to help understand it, which means unpaid training.  During the conference call, even the trainers were unsure of stuff.  One of my biggest pet peeves I have is time wasting.  It’s especially noticeable when you work on production.

Grrrrr…..  that kind of made me angry and frustrated today.  It makes my work day longer, because I still have to make my line commitments on top of the unpaid training.  I talked to my supervisor about how I felt it was unfair and all she said was “I know it is”.  ❓  WTH?  I like working at home, but sometimes I think I would be better served doing something else.

Lunch was a tuna wrap and some baked lays, all of which I munched while I had the phone muted for the conference call today. Even if other people waste time, at least *I* can multitask.

My frustration led to some chocolate chip snackage.  I hadn’t eaten any chocolate chips since Sunday!  It doesn’t help that we ran out of milk this morning, so I did not have an afternoon latte as per usual.  I knew I was doing it, but sometimes the “I don’t care” voice is stronger than the voice of reason….

Regarding the Attune bars – check for them in the refrigerated section of your grocery store by the yogurts.  Or if your store has a ‘natural foods’ section, try there (again refrigerated).

Look at what it looked like outside at 2 pm:

Don’t you just get cold looking at this picture?  It didn’t last long and the sun came back out, but it is cold and windy.

John came home for an hour in the afternoon as they got a break from deliberations, but he has to go back!  Deadlocked since last night.  They fed the jurors lunch and they are getting dinner for them tonight.  I had some of the leftovers for dinner tonight.  My tax dollars at work paying for 1/2 of a calzone!

I miss my hubby.  It’s almost 7:30 and he still isn’t home yet.

Have to get back to work tonight and I have to start packing at some point 😀  Gotta find my shorts.

Hopefully I will get caught up on some blog reading tomorrow as well!

Question:  What is one of your pet peeves?

One of my pet peeves is people ( my family ) leaving the empty toilet paper roll on and not replacing it. Funny you should ask, because someone did this in my bathroom today. argh.

I guess if that’s the biggest of my problems today I’m okay. 🙂

I made cream of wheat with banana and peanut butter mashed in it and LOVED it. I’m going to see if I have pumpkin to try that another day.

Conference calls that end up lacking in their usefulness are definitely a bummer. Glad you could multitask.

What a wild day – the weather, work, NO AFTERNOON LATTE(!) – bet you are more than ready to go on vacation!

My pet peeves are things not working when they should, and my grocery store being out of certain types of food – they haven’t had my Fage or any other brands of non-fat Greek yogurt for a week…and this isn’t the first time it’s happened! Grrr.

4 miles and it went by fast?! Awesome! I can’t wait to get back to that level of fitness again.
Quick question about steel cut oats…how much longer do they take to cook than regular rolled oats? I have never tried them but I know they are more nutritious…

Yes my pet peeve is my time being wasted too–and the automated phone systems are GUILTY AS CHARGED. Ooh, my blood boils just thinking about them.

    Hi there!

Great blog! I was trying to figure out where you live (somewhere in the Northern States?). I can see you live in a neighbourhood with old Victorian-style houses-very nice!

Hope you are having fun getting ready to escape the cold…funny how packing for a trip to a warm climate never feels like much of a chore!

Pet peeve? Dirty dishes left on the counter right above the EMPTY dishwasher. And (hard to stop at one!) my husband, Mr. Debbie, takes the little sticker off a piece of fruit before washing it, and sticks it onto the sink! Grrr!

    Stay warm!

Hope your husband is done with deliberations soon! It can get lonely by yourself. One of my pet peeves, probably of many!, is people who slack off while the rest of us pick up their slack.

Beware of the blob! (What’d I win? :))

I have so many pet peeves, it would take me days to list them. Currently at #1 is the company that *says* it will be at my home at a certain time, and two hours later are nowhere in sight. I know things come up, but they can take time for a quick courtesy call, explaining the delay and giving an updated ETA.

If I don’t get back here before you go, have an AWESOME vacation!

What a day. I hate it when my “I don’t care” voice wins. Hope you get your John back soon.

One of my biggest pet peeves is subtle racism. You know, the comments that people make sometimes without even thinking about it or realizing how bad what they just said is. Or maybe it’s not even a comment, but an action.

That’ what it looks like here today!! Ick.

Ugh, work frustrations. Getting prepared to go on a trip is so stressful too. Don’t worry, you’ll get through it all and soon be in warm sunny weather! 😀

One of my big pet peeves is impatient people. I’m incredibly patient, so the opposite kind of person just rubs me the wrong way. Chill the eff out 😛

I share your pet peeve!! I hate having my time wasted, especially with meaningless work meetings. The Husband and I were just talking about this because he has an insane number of large-group meetings coming up and nothing will get done at any of them. I have a week of out-of-town training before really starting my job and I know I’ll be nuts the whole week. The agenda they sent us is EXACTLY the same agenda as the online training I had to do before registering for the training. Why? Why? Why?

  12. kilax

That is a work pet peeve of mine. I hate sitting in meetings talking about what we should be doing… instead of just doing it! And training that isn’t ready to give? UGH, don’t even get me started. Hope your weekend work goes quickly!
