A magazine called….

Happy Wednesday.  Seriously, where does the time go?  I had a somewhat restless night of sleep last night.  Could be the party, or the caffeine, or just hecticness (my new word).  I was up a little early and just went off to the gym.  I did a little warmup and then kind of a random strength workout.  I didn’t want to push the muscles too much (as I will explain below).

  • Chin ups:  2 sets of 2, 1 set of 1 (almost 1   )
  • Cable squat to row:  3 sets of 8 at 60#
  • Bent over reverse fly:  3 sets of 10 with 10# dumbbells
  • Incline chest fly:  3 sets of 8 with 20# DBs
  • Lunges with a bar:  3 sets of 8 with 40# bar
  • Horizontal wood chop: 3 sets of 8 at 40#
  • Reverse lunge with forward reach:  3 sets of 8 with 8# DBs

Then I did the treadmill with a walk/run combo.  Here is a video of me doing the squat to row.  I love the dead lift/row, but this one is becoming a new favorite as well.  I love that I can do an ass-to-the-grass squat this way. Again, full body move!  Note that I am tipped back a little bit because I can’t stand fully upright or the weight pulls me over.

This is a great move for balance work as well.

I went home and got John moving for bagels.  He forgot it was bagel Wednesday, can you believe it? 😯   I was totally ready for this:

A little over toasted, but still good.

Okay, so I teased you last week about saying something was coming up for me?  Well, last November, a magazine emailed me after finding my blog and wanted to do a success story on me.  I emailed back and forth with a lot of information and then I didn’t hear from them again.  Well, while on the cruise (why did everything happen during that time, anyway???), I got another email that they wanted to go ahead and use my story.  Lots of coordination and freaking out later and I have my photo shoot on Thursday!  Ahhhhh!!!!!  The story should run in the May issue, if all goes according to plan.  I hope I didn’t jinx anything by talking about it LOL.  I edited this to take out the name of the magazine until it runs.

Can I tell you that I am flipping out about the photo shoot?  😯 😯 😯  With it being winter and all, we have to go to my tiny gym and see what we can come up with, although we are both game to doing a little bit outside if possible  😕   An NYC photographer is probably going to laugh herself to death when she gets up here….

I was told to wear well-fitted clothes to show off my body.  Omg – can I even tell you how nervous this makes me?  It’s one thing to put myself on the blog, but another in a magazine.  They said no patterns, so the trisuit is out (wah!).  Of course, that leaves the sweatstained long sleeve shirt or the droopy short sleeve one (in video above) LOL.  I am frantically trying to shop for a new outfit because they said to bring several.  Hello budget…..

For the Dr. Oz show I was totally comfortable.  This photo shoot puts me waaaaay out of my comfort zone.  Way, way out. I am totally excited, nervous, self-conscious, and proud all at the same time.  And I feel like I need to lose 10 pounds by tomorrow!

Hopefully I will have some pics as I have my sis and possibly John coming with to keep me calm.

Could the month of February be any more packed with stuff?  It has been insane!

Still have to eat, though.  Been eating some leftovers from the Mardi Gras party!  Chicken poboy and some cantaloupe:

I’m off to dog training class (which I am totally clueless about) and then frantic shopping before the mall closes!

Wow, this is so cool Lori! I subscribe to Shape and will definitely look forward to the May issue. I think you are photogenic and are going to look great. Good luck with finding some outfits that you feel comfortable in – that is the most important thing. I am excited for you!

So cool that you are going to be in Shape. I am not a subscriber, but I will by the magazine the month you are in it.

Love the move and love the KISS! Your gym has great music. My tastes are very eclectic so don’t be surprised by the music I love.

How could John forget about bagel Wednesday??? Glad you got to go and enjoy!

You have a dog??? Is Pixie a dog? I am so confused. Not really, I know Pixie is a cat, but I don’t recall a dog.

OMG, OMG, OMG!!! That is so awesome!!!

I’ve always wanted to do something like that, but feel absolutely ridiculous submitting anything like that. Not to mention I have the same fear about “Tight-fitting clothes.” LOL

You’ll have to tell us how it goes – I can’t wait to open the magazine and go “I KNOW HER!!!” 🙂

Great job honey – I am so excited for you!!!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!! So excited for you – more than the Dr. Oz show, because you will really get to stand on your own and SHINE!!!!

Go NOW and get a pair of Nike Dri Fit capris – BOLD FIT – you will fit into the smalls and extra smalls. Get a couple of brightly colored cute shirts – and are your shoes new and clean-looking? Might want to get a new pair of them as well. (Can you tell I worked for a photographer for 4 years?) Even if you return the shoes, they will look good in the picture. Will they have someone to do your make up? This is great – have your sister or John take pictures of them taking pictures of you so we can get a glimpse into your fun day!

OK, I took a deep breath. I’m really not this bossy in real life, I swear! I’m just so excited for you!!!!!

Deep breath…you’re gonna be fine. Know why? Because you have a smile that is totally radiant. Your photo shoot, no matter what you wear, will shine. Remember who you are, what you want you want to represent and that the camera, despite what anyone says, does NOT add any weight 🙂 Your story will impact a lot of people. Bottom line, that’s what’s most important, right? Have fun!!

SQUEEEEEEEE!!! So excited for you. You have the workout moves to show off to shape mag. Have I ever said that one of my very favorite things to do 20 years ago pre-weight losing, was to read my shape magazine while eating a giant brownie and a classic coke–heh heh! And my most favorite part was the success stories!

I second what Shelley and Lynn told you!

Congrats! How exciting about Shape. I can’t wait to hear all about the photo shoot…how glamorous! 🙂

And so cool about Dr. Oz, I’ve been meaning to congratulate you about that, too. Watched it today and squealed with delight for all the success you and Diane have had 🙂

Wow, Lori! There is so much going on for you right now! Awesome! I can’t wait to see the issue you are in! I taped and then watched the Dr. Oz show and totally saw you on it a couple of times… I kept pausing it and pointing you out to my husband! Lol!

Lori, that is wonderful! You are going to look great, and even more importantly, be an incredible inspiration to so many people. Congratulations!

thanks for posting the videos of those moves – they are going to be a big help to me as I progress thru New Rules. I did have a question as I was watching the one you posted today – you have really good form – did you work with a trainer to help you do the moves correctly? I am always afraid I am doing them wrong.

    oops
    Didnt mean to submit 😉
I did canine obedience school with my bullmastiff and it was so much fun.
We were the biggest drooliest duo in the class (for some reason this one was filled with the toybreeds!) and I adored it.

Lori this is awesome! Don’t you worry all anyone is gonna see is that beautiful smile! First thing that came to mind was your tri suit! Darn! I’m so happy for you though Lori. You deserve every bit of it so you go out there and show em what ya got!

OMG! How exciting! I’m so happy I just renewed my subscription to SHAPE so I’ll be sure to see your story. I’m sure you will look great in your photo. I would suggest wearing a tank style top to show off those awesome arms of yours. Have fun and enjoy your time in the spotlight. You are an inspiration to so many. 😉

Love that video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I watched the Dr. Oz show yesterday. How cool & very exciting. You looked cute!

As for Shape, can I say I am so jealous! I know, that is bad but I have tried to be a reader model in that magazine (OK & my other fitness mags) for years. How exciting for you & well deserved!!! Can’t wait to see it! You will do great!

Lori, that is so awesome! Look at you becoming a tv and magazine star. 🙂

Love how low you get on those squats in the video. If I got that low I’d stay there. No getting back up. LOL

Congrats. You deserve to be featured in the magazine. Seriously. And one day maybe I can get your autograph. 😀

Lori, your life is a whirlwind of spectacularness and this is so much fun to vicariously live it with you!
Ass-to-the-grass … lol … I’ve never heard that one before. That exercise actually looks enjoyable. Your gym … where the heck is everyone? Looks like you had the whole place to yourself!
I haven’t bought *that* magazine in years but you know I definitely be buying that issue!

Lori, you’ve inspired me to get back at it no matter how many times I have to get back up.
    Thank you!

EEEeeeee!!! I am SO excited for you!!!! I want to say “don’t be nervous,” but I know that’s useless 😉 I think if there was ever a time to splurge on an awesome new workout outfit it would be now. I bet they’ll have a great photographer with them that will put you at ease – all good ones do. They’ll take a bazillion shots, and no matter what they’ll get a good shot of you. One that will even make you look 10 lbs thinner 😉

And thanks for posting that video!! I’ve been meaning to do that move foreverrr and keep forgetting about it.
