Waffles and Flashback Friday!

I stayed up too late watching the Olympics!  Being on the East Coast, the skating didn’t end until midnight 😯  I was still up before 7, though…. sigh.  Hit the gym for some lifting and running.  I had a day off yesterday, but I sure felt tired today.  I think it is the culmination of the pell-mell schedule I have been on for the last 3 weeks and now knowing it’s over.

After a warm up, I did:

  • Chin ups:  2 sets of 2, 1 set of almost 1 🙂
  • Dead lift/row combo:  3 sets of 8 at 65#
  • Split squat with weight plate:  3 sets of 8 with 25# plate
  • Dumbbell pullover:  3 sets of 8 with 20# DB
  • Decline sit ups:  3 sets of 10
  • YTWL:  3 sets of 4 reps with 8# DBs
  • Dumbbell pliet squat:  3 sets of 8 with 35# DB

Then I jogged for 2.5 miles on the treadmill.  Normally I don’t run that long on lifting days, but I did not do my normal Thursday run, so I figure it’s okay.

Here’s a different breakfast for you!

Protein waffles (link) topped with a mashed banana, chocolate sauce, and toasted pecans.  1 tablespoon of chocolate sauce goes a long way!  In case you missed it, here is the link to the custard oats.

Working today for the 9th day in a row.  They haven’t all been full days of work, but they have been full days, know what I mean? I’ll be happy to get back on a straight work schedule.

Lunch time and I wanted something light.  I had some tuna salad, soy crisps and the last kiwi.

This was good, but I wanted just a little more, so I had 1/2 of a balance bar.  Kind of like dessert, but 7 grams of protein!

I about fell asleep while working after lunch.  We are out of milk, so John said with no milk and me working on my day off, we should play some hooky and have coffee!  Am I going to say no to that? No siree….

Now I am a little more awake.

Flashback Friday!  I was going through some pictures and scanning them into the computer today and decided to add this picture of me.  It’s one of my favorites, and I think it is one of my mom’s favorite pictures as well:

Usually in my baby pictures, I was either crying, had just finished crying, or was about to cry – so this is a good one LOL!

Do you ever look in your fridge or cabinets and say “why do we have so much of X”?   I noticed today we have a huge amount of chicken and about 8 pounds of potatoes!  There was a 5# bag of potatoes on sale for $2, so we bought them and we don’t really eat that many.  So, guess what was on the menu for dinner

I microwaved some potato until it was mostly cooked, the put it under the broiler with feta cheese, butter spray, salt and pepper.  Quite good!  Potatoes and cheese, you really can’t go wrong with any form of that….

So, tomorrow is supposed to be about 40.  I am debating on an outdoor run, although it won’t be 40 in the morning.  Need to sleep on that 😀

Question:  Any fun Saturday plans?

I have to work tomorrow (said like Eeyore…)

I decided today that my favorite way to eat the protein pancakes is with walnuts cooked into them and with the mashed banana/1tsp maple syrup on top. Today I had them with a whole half cup of blueberries baked into them. I still haven’t gotten my waffle iron out…

Seeing the amount of food you eat gives me a serious case of portion control envy. Wow. You’ve so got the portion thing down, Lori. It’s pretty impressive — especially since your food is so good. I’d have a tough time holding myself to your portions, I think!

No envy needed. You don’t see all of my snacks on the blog. Some peanuts here or my preworkout morning snacks don’t make it onto the camera – or my evening snack I am eating right now. 🙂

That waffle looks so good, perhaps that might be on the Saturday menu. I can’t wait until this shift is finished because it will mean the start of 5 days of freedom. Tomorrow is supposed to be mild so Rob and I are planning a nice long walk up Kennesaw mountain. YAY!

Great job on the run – your lifting schedule is fantastic!

And I seriously have to try your protein waffles one of these days!

What a cute baby picture! You are all dolled up – hat and gloves…seeing that picture, I can’t imagine that you were a crier!

We just started doing split squats – at least I think that’s what they are called. WE call them “Superstar!” like that Molly Shannon from SNL character does. They take some coordination, which I don’t have much of!

When you said to taper my runs for my race on Friday, it’s ok to run 3 miles tomorrow and then a little either M/T/W at the gym (like a mile), right?

So yeah…weekend plans include a run, blog work, and sleeping in on Sunday! I’m with you – the ice skating went too late last night, plus I was messing with my new blog design…stayed up way too late considering I had to go to work today.

Love the baby pic (esp. the bonnet!)

Can totally relate to the “too much in the fridge”. At the moment, we have two full bags of fingerling potatoes! I think egg/potato scrambles are for breakfast tomorrow … 🙂

    Have a great weekend Lori!

Saturday plans for us include going to a friends house for some jewelry making. She’s going to teach our little girls and they are looking forward to it. I’m hoping to go to the gym in the afternoon/evening since I didn’t go today.

Still amazing myself that I actually want to go to the gym when I miss a day. LOL

    Thanks for sharing your recipes!!

Lori, you’re right. That is one of my favorite photos of you. Your first Easter – bonnet, gloves and all. It made me smile to see that photo on your blog.

I have a giant bag of cheap potatoes too. I don’t eat them a lot either, I need to stop buying things just because they’re cheap! 😛

The weather is gorgeous here too! I was contemplating running outside, but I ran yesterday, and the sidewalks are all wet and dirty from the melting snow, ick :\

    Enjoy your day off today!!

    Have a nice Saturday Lori!

Plans are to go out for dinner with the hub and then watch a movie.

You’re lucky with the Olympics. Tonight it’s speed skating men 1500 m and we have a good shot at a gold medal but it’s not on till 1 am (don’t think I can keep my eyes open that long)

LORI, I wanted to let you know I made the Pumpkin Custard Oats today and they were SUPER yummy! Thank you sooo much for taking the time to post (and illustrate) how to make them yesterday!!! I have a lot of leftover pumpkin, so I know I’ll be having a lot more of this later this week. 🙂
As for the outside running, I can’t wait until it gets up to (and above 40) here in the Cleveland area so I can go out to run! The sun had me tempted today.
