Under the sea! AKA shrimp for dinner

** Don’t forget to enter the Attune giveaway **

Tuesday run day!  Since I did 3 miles yesterday, I did 5 today (usually 6).  Pretty standard treadmill run.  I was checking my Daily Mile log and I have run 152 miles since January 1st! 😯   And I don’t consider myself a runner first.  Interesting….  My legs felt pretty good.  Normally they are a little tired on Tuesdays after a Monday lifting session, but no lifting this week.  Can I say that I miss it already?  I need to get that lifting FAQ post going, if I can get some extra time…

After the run, I decided on waffles for breakfast!  You know how I love them.

Got started right away with work and I had a little help for a good share of the morning.

Sometimes she is so durn cute.

Cereal has come back into the house in the form of Kashi Go Lean.  I am okay so far with it (of course, I just opened the box).  Here it is mixed with plain greek yogurt, cinnamon, and strawberries.  Yum!

Actually, this Kashi hurts my gums a little bit because it is so crunchy.

I worked on a lot of endocrinology reports today.  That means a lot of patients with diabetes.  I still can’t get over how many medications some people have to take – as many as 12 different kinds in a day.  How do you keep that straight?  Unfortunately, it seems as though many patients just won’t change their diet.  Some do and the results can be quite amazing.  The right food and exercise can really be the best medicine you can take.

Afternoon deliciousness!

I sucked this one down in a hurry, and had a couple of these:

(recycled picture alert!)

Seafood for dinner.  I wanted more protein and a lower carb dinner, so that meant a non-veggie source.  Of course, the chicken was still frozen, but then I remembered the shrimp in the freezer.  That takes just a couple minutes to thaw.  3 ounces = 20 grams of protein! I sauteed broccoli in coconut oil, then added the shrimp, some slivered almonds, and BBQ sauce!

With a pear on the side dusted with cinnamon.  It’s funny how I am not a fish lover, but I loves me some seafood!  Crab is my favorite (especially the claw), then scallops.  I have to confess that I like my shrimp breaded best.  😀  Does shrimp have Omega 3?  I guess I should look that up.

The best part of my day?  Going out for coffee with my hubby!  John and I went out to Starbies for some caffeine and chit chatting.  It’s like date night 😳

Question: What is your favorite seafood?

Lobster, shrimp, crab (especially King crab), mussels, clams, calamari (squid) and most fish.

If it comes out of the sea, I probably love it.

Your shrimp look delicious. Note to self…buy shrimp.

Glad that you had an assistant and got to have date time with John. I work with my BF so we usually have lunch together every day and sometimes coffee as well. Of course our chit chat is usually work related.

Glad i’m not alone on the recycled workout clothes! LOL! Steamed clams and mussels win hands down for me. Then its shrimp scampi and then crablegs only because they take such an effort to eat. Fish is at the bottom of my list too but has climbed a bit in popularity since i discovered tilapia. 🙂

Mmmmm…I love most food that comes from the sea. I don’t eat a lot of it, but when there’s something very local and very fresh (like Dungeness crabs since early December), we take advantage of it.

I love your kitty’s big, fat paws!

Aww Lori I love that picture of you at the end- you look so happy!! Beautiful!
And I love shrimp too, the texture is so great. But you’re right, scallops are amazing as well.
I almost began drooling when I saw your breakfast! I’m a belgian waffle lover myself, and when you top it with bluberries…well…there are no words! Just curious- do you use a mix (I love Hodgson Mill)?

I LOVE seafood and I’m not biased. Give me shrimp, oysters, clams, lobster, squid. I’ll take it!
In fact, I am seriously excited about an Oyster Roast we have coming up in a few weeks. All the oysters I can eat and (light) beer I can drink. It’s always a good time.

Until recently I would have said the exact same thing… not a fish lover, but really enjoy the seafood. My tastes are slowly changing though and I have enjoyed a small amount of fish over the past few months. I LOVE crab though (my fave) and shrimp, lobster, and scallops. Mmmmm…

It is hard to pick a favorite seafood, but if I had to pick it probably is scallops. I love ahi poke too. I bought cottage cheese this weekend to make protein waffles, but we ended up having smoothies. I am going to make them soon – looking forward to them! Kudos on all of the running, you have logged more than 30 miles more than me so far this year!

I am just taking a break from lifting to rest. I try to take a week off every 2 to 3 months or so. It’s good to really rest the muscles every once in a while.

I had one of those delicious waffles for breakfast this morning. I’m hooked. 🙂

I need to get some shrimp. Low in calories, hig.h in protein.

I love tuna steak and crab the best. There is a restaurant around here that has the best crab gumbo ever. Love it! Also love steamed crab legs. mmmm
When I was a kid my dad would go fishing all of the time and we had fried perch at least once a week. Still one of my favorites.

Great, now I’m getting hungry. 🙂

I love shrimp, but admit that I really love it smothered in butter … like shrimp scampi. Yum.

How fun for you to go and chat with hubby over coffee! 🙂 I love it.
