Bagel day!

The Attune bar giveaway ends on Thursday, so don’t forget to enter if you haven’t yet!

It’s Bagel Day!  I love my bagel days 😀

Since I am resting from lifting this week, I decided not to go to the gym this morning.  I didn’t really want to run 3 days in a row, so I decided to do  it old school today with a Walk Away The Pounds DVD.

I kind of forgot how annoying Leslie can get 😀  (just kidding…kind of). This is a nice workout, though.

Then it was a shower and off to the cafe.  They probably didn’t recognize me because I was showered and not wearing my hat.  Noshing ensued:

I can feel spring coming!  I so badly want to break the bike out with temps in the upper 30s.  Too bad the bike trails are still covered with snow.  When I see the tulip buds, then I know we are on the way.  But, the snow has to melt first.   I decided to think even warmer and have a Mediterranean theme for lunch – tuna and hummus topped with sundried tomatoes on a tortilla (okay, a little Mexican thrown in there).  Plus some brussel sprouts.

That was a change up for lunch!  Then there was a lot more working.  Busy right now.

Snack of champions to go with my latte.

Speaking of coffee, I got this question:

Do you have any coffee before your afternoon Latte? Do you have any in the morning with breakfast or before your workout? why or why not?

Oh my, yes.  I do have coffee every morning with breakfast.  We make cafe au lait, where we heat up 1/2 cup of milk, froth it up and fill the mug with coffee.  I just don’t take a picture of it because I am usually drinking it 😀  I have 2 of those with breakfast (to equal 1 cup of milk).

I do not have coffee before my workout just because I don’t have time, as I just eat my preworkout snack and go. I don’t want to make some and try to slug it down.  I like to savor my coffee.  However, if it were already made when I got up, I would probably drink some before leaving the house. If I could get John’s butt out of bed at 6:30, maybe he could make the coffee….

I didn’t get a picture of dinner, but it was Kashi cereal and a tortilla on the way out the door.  Now that is nourishment for you.  I had to leave the house at 5, so it didn’t leave time to fix dinner.  Dog training tonight!  Storm is my job.  He is better at this stuff than I am, since he gets training and I just wing it each week 😀

Look how he loves me.  It’s really because I was the keeper of the cheese tonight.  Food rulz for doggies.

Then there is my dad and Lizzie – she is getting big.   6 months old now.

Speaking of the snack of champions, I brought home stellar nutrition for John and I after class was over.  Did I mention that Dunkins is only 1/2 mile from my house?

Flash picture, sorry about that.  Now I have to get back to work and finish up a little bit.

Question:  Coffee, tea, neither, or both?

Decaf green, black or chai. Decaf coffee with a splash of flavoured coffee.

My favourite is decaf chai with sugar free vanilla syrup and non-fat foam. Yum!

You know, as I was looking at that picture of you and the dog, I thought “he loves her” and then you wrote that – too cute!

I love strong coffee and I love iced tea. Sometimes on a long work day, I’ll dash to Starbucks and get a coffee with a shot of espresso…the other day, a man ahead of me in line got a six-shot espresso! Now that’s liking your coffee!!!

    Hi Lori,

I read your comment on “prior fat girl’s” blog about the relationship with food and found you.

It is funny, but I just wrote a post about that subject and our views are so similar! 🙂

Chai tea (hot or cold) or iced tea flavored with lemon, peach or raspberry.
I can’t drink coffee and must limit my tea because caffeine gives me migraines. (I’m just glad I can have some, because for a while a sip of caffeinated tea would give me a migraine, so I’ll take what I can get)

I only have coffee every few days (I know, abnormal.*G*), so I can’t comment. I do tend to avoid beverages for the 20-30 minutes before a workout, lest I start sloshing. I have a problem with nausea when I get overheated, and I’ve found sipping during the workout to be better for me.

Oh, and I did pick up an Attune bar (chocolate crisp) at Whole Foods yesterday. Pretty tasty, and it made two nice small snacks! I’m still on the search for the peanut butter chocolate version though. 🙂

You got 2 snacks out of an Attune?? I barely remember the first square of a bar because I inhale it LOL.

    Awww, doggie pictures!

I like coffee best, of course. But I do like my homemade chai tea. Very satisfying. And I try other teas occasionally, especially if I want to keep from snacking in the evening.

Bagel day? What is that? Hee hee but I unintentionally celebrated it today, too! With a toasted cheese bagel with cream cheese! 😀
I love coffee in the mornings…and then tea in the evening!

Earl Gray Green Tea in the morning with breakfast, black coffee before working out and after lunch, if I want anything hot later in the day it has to be herbal tea, because caffeine after about 2 pm really messes me up to go to sleep.

Yes – it is a blueberry cake, with a big bite out of it! I do like those and haven’t had one in forever.

Did you know dog shows are considered sporting events? I have to add a plug for Lori’s dog training abilities- she did a very nice job with my dog Storm 🙂 OK, Lori- dog show in May, and it’s officially on your site so you’re committed!! And I like one cup of coffee per day- just keep refilling the same mug pleez….

Just read your weightlifting post. I whish i had your gumption. I stopped lifting about a year ago now. I have not gained weight like i thought i would nor have i lost any. But i’m not happy with my body. After much deliberation i’ve decided to start lifting again just this past week. I’ve not talked about it on my blog yet as i’m still talking about California but i will. I no longer belong to a gym but i’m going to use the ‘Ripped’ videos. You know i could work out at the gym for an hour and not be stiff and sore after but 30 min with that video and i can feel it the next day. I think i just don’t push myself hard enough on my own. So my approach this time is gonna be the videos. I want to take before and after shots of my arms. Do you have before and after shots of your arms?

COFFEE!! But I love iced tea and hot tea as well…in social situations. I’m a social tea drinker, like tea parties and such. But there’s nothing like waking up, turning on that pot (that I’ve prepared the night before) and then having that first cup of Seattle’s Best or Starbucks or whatever my dad has roasted and mailed me with some half-n-half and sweetener in the morning.

Also, I started my fitness with Leslie Sansone videos and I have that one. Now that I’ve tried running I don’t enjoy her workouts as much because they don’t make me sweat as much as running/jogging. Too funny..I never would’ve dreamed I’d ever say that.

Sorry for long comment… 😛 Have a great day!

I like both coffee and tea but probably gravitate towards coffee…with half & half. I used to be addicted to caramel macchiatos at Starbucks but I’ve since discovered the Skinny Caramel Latte. The only calories come from the milk so it’s a win/win situation for me. Oh and BTW, Leslie is slightly annoying but she at least seems sincere…I think she’s better than most of the exercise gurus out there!

Hmmm, well instead of getting me up at 6:30am, you could just load up the coffee maker the night before and put it on timer. Or I think they have this new coffee patch, you just stick it on your butt and go.

I love bagels … actually I love any starchy bread foods which is why I really need to watch my carb intake when I try to lose weight.

I used to spend about $10/day at Dunkins for coffee but switched to tea which I made for free at the office. I will drink coffee when we go out for breakfast or if someone else makes it but otherwise will stick with the tea. There is a DD on every other corner in my city so it can be hard to resist sometimes.

Both! I like coffee more, but sometimes it upsets my stomach and/or makes me a wee bit jittery, so I’ll switch out for chai or green tea.

And yet I still love coffee. Masochist? Only on weekdays. :-p

Coffee, obviously!! I’ve actually started drinking tea everyday at the office too. But that’s mostly to curb my gum chewing. The taste is still meh and it just makes me have to pee all the time 😛 And I NEED to have coffee before I workout. The energy difference is big enough for me that it’s worth it to guzzle back a glass of iced coffee before I run out the door in the morning.
