Status quo?

It’s a beautiful morning!  Sing it!  Actually, it is very nice today.  Still a little cool, but the sunshine is out!  It feels good to be done (pretty much) with the real estate deal.  It’s funny, but whenever a firetruck would go blaring by in the direction of my old property, I always had a thought it could be going there.  Today a firetruck went by and I realized that I don’t have to worry about that anymore!

I slept really well last night.  Fell asleep around 11 and woke up at 7, which is a *lot* of sleep for me.  😀   Decided that I wanted some banana pecan custard oats for brekkie today.  I put 5 pecans in the microwave for about a minute to toast them up.

Topped with marshmallow fluff.  This was a very tasty bowl indeed.

Got right to work.  It’s funny how work gets slow and busy, and you just never know when that will be.  I need to decide whether to stay with this job or not.  The main reason I took this job was because of the investment property and needing extra money to cover it while I waited (spinning wheels, so to speak).   John and I were talking about what I should do next.  I always feel like I have to be doing something, but I think it is okay to tread water for a little bit (which is pretty much what I did the last year).  There is nothing wrong with the status quo, at least for a while.

Lunch time!

Tuna salad and FSTG sweet potato chips.  These are good, but most of the bag was all busted up.  Boooooo – these are too pricey for that to happen.

I wanted to share a super cute picture of Pixie.  Even though she is several years old, she will suckle on her own toe (guess I would call it a thumb if she actually had one).  I don’t know why she does it, and she only does it when she is on one of our laps.  I think it was because she got weaned too early as a kitten, but we will never know.  So, here she is doing that:

She kneads with the other paw while she is doing this.  Everyone say “awww….”

Latte time!  Plus an Attune bar.

We won’t mention the cookie dough ball I snuck in there as well.

Note how I balance the latte on my laptop which is balanced on my lap.  One of my less endearing traits is the risks I take with my electronics.

Dinner time is a fast one.  Baked crabcake topped with hot sauce!  I am almost out of my hot sauce, too. These are called Smart Option crab cakes (I wrote carb cake LOL) and are 170 calories each.  The smart is because they are inexpensive, I think.

Posting early tonight, as John and I are going to a symphony concert and it is a bit of a drive.  Haven’t been to one in so long because they are pretty pricey, and not all orchestras are worth the $$.   ( I am a former musician who played in orchestras, so I can say that 😛  )

Have a great night!

Question:  Do you feel the need to always be “doing”?

    I never knew you played.
    So did I! Percussion.
    And you?
    Were you a Music Major?
    S.A.I.
    ?????

How adorable is your cat? My rescue cat suckled on random things when she was a kitten and I also hypothesized that she was weaned too early. She doesn’t do it now though. 🙂 I love that you put marshmallow fluff on your breakfast.

I’m definitely a “busy-body,” I’m always doing something. It’s hard for me to slow down and take a break!

OMG, I totally feel the need to be “doing” all the time. If I’m at home and I’m exhausted, and the house is messy, I feel like I should be cleaning. If I’m at home in lounging around in bed because I’m sick, I feel like I should be working out. Lol, it never ends for me.

Now, marshmallow fluff on oatmeal?! YES, PLEASE!!! And Pixie is adorable.

Oh, and since I’m a kind of new reader, I just wanted to say congrats on the weight loss, you look fabulous!

    Hope

Yummy on the tuna…how do you make yours?

Those crab cakes sound right up my alley. I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for them!

Love Attune products. I am doing a giveaway for their new granola! It’s SOOOO good 😉

Awww, a thumb-sucking kitty cat. Way too cute. My 10 year old cat still suckles on the blanket when she’s in bed with me. Purring away and makin’ biscuits. 🙂

Hope you had fun at the concert. Nice to know you played in one. I’ve played in kind of a brassband when I was a teenager.

And yes I always feel the need to do something. I can’t just sit and do nothing, if that happens I’m going to watch tv or read a book.

awwwwwwwwwwwwww! That is just about as cute as cute can be. I’ve never seen a cat do that … ever! My other cat used to drag around an old shoelace though and try to hump it. I wish I was kidding. 🙂 He must’ve liked ’em reeeeeeaaaaal skinny. lol

Anyhoo … Our local symphony periodically plays in public places for free … at the river, at the mall and in churches. I enjoy the ones down by the river the best in the summer.

I lost my need to always be doing back in my late 30’s. I used to feel tremendous guilt if I didn’t move and DO. I love to sit and just relax now with a cup of coffee or tea, a book and preferably outside on the patio in good weather with the birds singing in the background. ahhhhhhh.
I’m also looking forward to retirement in 2 years when I can just stop working, period. I’ve been “doing” for 28 years and I’m tired of that.

    Have a great Friday, Lori!

Love Pixie sucking her thumb! I showed my sister who has three cats. Adorable.

Yes, I ALWAYS have to be doing something. It can be exhausting but for what ever reason I can’t stop until my body totally crashes…hence today’s post. That’s a bummer.

    Awww…Pixie is adorable.

Now that I’ve been out of work for a few months I’m learning how to slow down and just “be.” It’s so nice to not be a walking stress ball all the time.

Have fun at the concert and have a great weekend!

You are majorly brave with the latte on your laptop, lol.

I have to say every time I look at your food pictures, I think, “gosh, I want to eat like that!” It looks healthy but not diet-y, indulgent yet controlled. I hope when I get to maintenance I can find that kind of balance. I am not sure how to do it. I guess a lot of exercise helps, huh?

Thanks for sharing and inspiring 🙂

Thanks Lyn – some days are like you describe, but I do have those snack days or times when I just want to eat everything! The longer I go, the easier it gets, though. I figure as long as I string together more better days than not, I’ll be okay 😀

  12. Ang

I think I could use a bit more drive to do things…my house can look like a tornado hit and I’ll just lay there and read! My lack of motivation is embarrassing!

Pixie is so adorable. I’ve never seen a cat do that before! I had a cat that would hug once though. You could say give me a hug and she’d jump from the floor and put a paw on each side of your neck. Of course you got badly scratched in the process! lol!

I can veg out like nobody’s business. In fact, like a couple of other folks who commented here, I’ve found I sometimes need to find ways to keep myself busy so I don’t sit around and eat. It’s such a pull for me. Relax on the sofa, and nosh, nosh, nosh. Better to go and do something, even if it’s clean my closet (which I’ve yet to do, for the record). Can’t go without mentioning that darling Pixie! She loves you guys something fierce, that much is clear. I’m soooo sooo glad you kept her!

Haha, what a timely question for me. In short – YES!! During the last year of my undergrad, I worked three jobs while doing school full-time. I was a mess, but for some reason loved to torture myself like that. As of today I have NO job. Indefinitely. Not scary, but I just don’t know what to do with myself! I’m sure you and John have tons more exciting ventures in your future 🙂

That is by far the sweetest Pixie picture you’ve posted. Totally pulls on my heart!
