Sunday this ‘n that

I slept great last night!  Probably because  I took a Tylenol PM since my back was bothering me a touch.  I think my disk will probably bother me forever, I guess.  Interesting note,  5 months after herniating my disk and I still have skin numbness in my knee.  I am beginning to think that is permanent as well, although it does not seem to affect anything I do, it just feels really weird.

We were up for biking to bagels this morning albeit a little slow 😀  I was hangry, too!  Day after long bike ride usually = very hungry Lori.

Yum.  Plus my 3 cups of coffee… yes indeed.

More relaxed work day today.  I have officially moved down to part time with job #1 so that will get me more on an even keel.  My life has been so backloaded with work for the last couple of months that I have felt a little out of whack.  I hope to get some blog stuff updated as well.  Another gentle reminder from John that I need to change my age to 42 in the sidebar…. 🙄

Lunch break on the porch.  I held this up by the giant clematis 😀

I have pretty much finished the recipe compilation booklet.  I will get a donate button on my site (amount will be up to the donor).  All monies collected from it will go to my charity ride (and I will forward a copy to those that have donated already!).  That took a while to do, I have to say.  Compiling took forever.  I cannot imagine writing a book from scratch unless that is all you did.

My butterfly visitor was back today:

Snack time (unpictured are some crackers I had):

Spent some time today moving furniture and removing window coverings in preparation for the installment of our new windows this week.  It almost feels like we are moving.  Thank goodness we aren’t.  Don’t want to move again for a long time.

I cannot believe we are coming to the end of August already.  School doesn’t start around here until after Labor Day, but people are gearing up.  And do you know what we saw in the grocery store last night?  Halloween candy!  I picked up a bag of candy corn and just inhaled that sweet, sweet scent… Didn’t buy, though.

Dinner time! Went for extra protein.

Plus awesome baked sweet potato “chips”.  These are great in the new convection toaster oven.

Flexing in work tonight and the Broncos are on prime time!  While I still love my Broncos, the Saints keep stealing their way up in my heart.

Snacks:

We have been going through a ton of fruit lately.  In fact we ran out as I didn’t have any pear to eat with yesterday’s ride! I guess I just eat a lot of it.  I may as well do one of those fruit fasts LOL!

Don’t forget to comment on this post if you want an entry to win the book I’m With Fatty!  And with that I will end this mish mash of a post 😀

Question:  Does school start before or after Labor Day for your area?

I made them fresh. I slice thin and put on a pan. Spray with nonstick and season. Bake at 400 for 15 minutes and flip. Cook for another 15-20 depending on thickness. They are very good this way.

School has been in session here for a week now. My boys started last Thursday at their university. We live in a different university town and those students start tomorrow…my little town has once again been overrun by students and my grocery store has bare shelves – I swear you’d think the grocers are surprised by the students each year, the way they never stock enough product!

School started here in NC last week which I think is WAY too early. I’m from Pittsburgh (yeah yeah yeah your Broncos beat my Steelers) and school (except for college) always started after Labor Day. Though it is nice to be done with school in May…now that I think about it, I’m not sure which way is better!

I’ve been going through fruit like crazy lately too. It is so good right now! I’ve especially been enjoying fresh figs.

Here we are starting our second week of school. It feels like school has been in session for months already!

I do love candy corn! I don’t buy either or it is not pretty! 😉

Glad work is lighter now for you… you have been working so hard!

School – before & after around here! Not soon enough for me as the young guys come in at “my time in the gym” & bother me when school is out! 🙂

I want that bagel! Have not had one in a while as my freezer stash is gone. Almost time for the pumpkin ones & ginger spice ones again.. YAHOO!

I imagine our school year begins the same time as yours, after Labor day. The college kids are back in session because MVCC (across the street) is like a highway with all the cars pulling in this morning. Hate that!

Ted had a bagel this morning. When he bought them, the store packed the “Everything” bagel in with the multi grain. Now the multi-grain smells like onion. Not good with PB.

We don’t have labor day 😆 but to learn you something about Holland again: our country is divided in 3 parts concerning the holidays. We have 6 weeks of holiday in Summer. The part where I live started their vacation in the first week of July and went back to school the second week of August. Another part started the second week of July and the third part started it the last week of July and they go back to school next week.

Good that you now work parttime on job number one. Life isn’t about working in my opinion. We need the money but otherwise I wouldn’t do it 🙂

Always nice to have a husband who points out your age so gently 😆 could have been mine 🙂

Mmm that bagel looks good. My Kashi cereal is already starting to wear off this morning. Start work early every morning so my only exercise before then is walking uphill the 3 blocks to the office. Will have to grab a snack before trial.
School back home starts 2 weeks before labor day but I don’t know out here.

sweet potato fries sound so yummy, no one but me likes them though. I do bake a lot of regular fries though for the family which they love. Will have to throw a sweet potato in there some time to surprise them lol. Recipe book sound interesting didn’t realize you were putting one together. I’ve been going through a ton of fruit too, it’s that time of year when a lot of stuff is cheap too.

The sweet potatoes look awesome. Thanks for detailing the method for Debby. Our kids go back the day after Labor Day. The state Theme/Amusement park (Kings Dominion) lobbied hard and got our district to pass a regulation that school would always start the day after Labor Day. It’s okay in the fall, but the kids (and teachers) hate having to go until the end of June. I use Tylenol PM occasionally for pain and it really does give me a good night’s sleep. Funny about smelling the candy corn–do you think there are calories in smells???? :))
