Going to Moe’s

This morning was one of those where I was so snuggly that I did not want to get out of bed.  I love that feeling!  I decided on no morning workout today as I ponder what I will be doing.  Very off the cuff.   I knew what I wanted for breakfast, though!  Protein waffles.

These are sprinkled with a bit of toasted, unsweetened coconut.

Pink item of the day used in the making of breakfast:

The Breast Cancer Site

Yes – that is a couple days past the sell by date.  If I don’t post tomorrow, you will know why.  Work is busy for both jobs, so I just logged in early and started working.  I like it much better when it is this way than waiting around for work to show up.

In thinking about events to do, with the winter the way it is here, there are no events until spring pretty much after the last few 5Ks coming up – the coldest of them being in early December (reindeer run) when I think it was 15 degrees last year?  😯  Yeah – that is cold.  That makes it hard to set a goal for any type of training because events are  so far into the future.  I might just try working on getting more of my strength back.  I was looking at old logs and I was doing deadlifts and squats over 100 pounds at the beginning of the year, which I still have not worked back up to yet after my herniated disk.  So that is something to shoot for at any rate.

I am running the goblin gallop at the end of the month or at the very least on my own as part of Fran’s virtual run (click here if you want to virtual run).

Lunch time!  Just some quick eats.

These pretzel crackers from Ritz are really good!

I was able to finish up work earlier in the day since I started early.  That is always nice.  John made up lattes as I wrapped up.  To add the protein, we just put in about 1/4 scoop of whey into the milk when steaming.  It works really well and adds about 7 grams of protein to the cup.

Pixie looks pissed off for some reason.  Probably because I was bothering her while she was soaking up the warmth on the warm dishwasher! (We have a portable).

You may not have noticed, but I am doing a no-added sugar day today.  I am going to rock the Hot 100 this week.

I went out for a nice 3-mile walk before dinner.  I decided I didn’t feel like running, so I didn’t!  Speaking of dinner, John chose to have his football meal tonight (thank you Packers and Ravens 😮  ).  A new place opened up here last month:

One thing I liked about this place is that they had junior burritos.  I like burritos, but they are always so big and never do well to take half home.  Here is my junior Homewrecker:

On a whole grain wrap with chicken, rice, pico de gallo, lettuce, sour cream and cheese and it was about 450 calories.  Quite good for all that goodness in there:

Here is a shot for showing the size:

It was just the right amount.  It did come with a side of tortilla chips, and I just ate 4 or 5 of those.  While the small burrito size is nice, I have to say that everything was a bit bland.  I prefer Chipotle.

Relaxing night on tap tonight.  I am going to have some pineapple and do some TV watching and reading.

Question:  Have you been to a Moe’s?

Thanks for the shout out my friend.

Getting your strength back during the Winter months sounds like a good plan. Then at the beginning of the new year you can set your goals for Spring/Summer.

We don’t have Moe’s but I guess you already expected that 🙂
    The burrito looks very good!

I love those protein waffles! I will have to try the coconut. Good job on navigating your exercise today. I think it is great that you are listening to your body.

Pixie is adorable, even when angry! I love Chipotle too, but can’t go in there. I have zero restraint around their food, and if you aren’t careful, it’s a deadly calorie trap! Your burrito certainly looks good…too bad it wasn’t quite up to snuff flavor-wise.

We have two Moe’s here in Chattanooga. Like you, I think they’re rather bland. We have a locally owned place here called Mojo Burrito, and it’s really good. One of my favorite foods of all is their homemade guacamole dip…chunks of avocado. Love it!

Hi Lori!! Loving the way those pancakes look 🙂 and YES! I’ve been to Moe’s I love that place. I just learned (from you) that they have Junior Burritos. Thanks for letting us know! Ive been going to that place for a few years now and never even noticed that on the menu. Whats wrong with me?! lol Unless they have different menu items for different cities/states but I really doubt it. Thanks again. 😀

I try to avoid Moe’s (those chips and salsa verde are like crack), but I do venture that way occasionally and get a Streaker with grilled chicken. I love how fresh everything is.
Good luck with the Goblin Gallop. I will definitely participate in the Virtual Pink Run. I am crossing my fingers that the weather stays as beautiful as it has been!

thanks for the latte tid bit. I have a milk steamer at home so over the weekend I am going to give this a shot! and also THANKS for your protein pancake (waffle) recipe. Another one to try and without the sweetener?? perfect!

I also am on my way to check out the virtural run. that might just be perfect right now.

    and anyways how fun!
ps…sometimes I use things after the expiration date too. I just smell it first.
hahahaha (especially yogurt. it’s already cultured)
it’s condiments I have to watch out for. Once my husband found a mustard that was outdated by 2 years…we think it came over from a move and never used since.
    OOPS. haven’t killed anyone yet!

    Happy Wednesday

Wow, I really like the idea of the virtual run! I’m in!

We don’t have a Moe’s here, but we do have many taquerias in our town, and so I know well the monster burritos of which you speak! Sorry to hear that yours was bland…I’d have been disappointed, too.

Love that expression on Pixie’s face. Bet she didn’t stay mad too long. 🙂

There is a MOE’s about a mile from my house. I’ve been wanting to try it for the 2+ years we’ve lived here, but just haven’t gotten around to it. Might have to go try that Jr burrito sometime soon now.

I’ve never seen a Moe’s but I’ve been wanting to try Chipotle. I’m kind of stuck on Baja Fresh though.

I think you have a better waffle maker than me because your waffles always look so Perfect!

  11. Shelley B

Never heard of Moe’s but now I have that song “Five Guys Named Moe” going through my head, lol!

Nice that they have the smaller size – we have Freebirds burritos here and they are ginormous.

The Pixanator looks angry. Better get her some catnip, quick!

I’ve never been to a Moe’s. I’m addicted to Chipotle though. We don’t have one and I seek one out EVERY time we travel. It’s an obsession.

My cat gives lots of pissed off looks…almost on cue. If my husband mentions how overweight she is she’ll shoot him a dirty look. It’s hilarious!
