I was doing a bit of grunting today – would have gotten kicked out of Planet Fitness LOL! I was feeling kind of kickass today, I have to say.

Then I walked on the treadmill for 20 minutes before heading home, all the while thinking of these!

Haven’t had the protein waffles in a while.   There are just so many good choices for breakfast, you know?

I thought my blog might break from all the traffic yesterday and today!  Not only from the AOL That’s Fit article, but another site linked to my chai granola recipe.  Ya’ll can say ‘hi’ – I won’t bite too hard, I promise…

This week’s Hot 100 Update:

  1. Maintain my weight. Been back to losing mode and the scale is eking downwards.
  2. No eggnog lattes until Thanksgiving day!  They are available now, but I have resisted.
  3. Do the duathlon and at least 1 more 5K race before the end of the year. Did the home duathlon.  5k done on October 30th
  4. Do stretching exercises 4 days a week at least.  Did 5 days!!
  5. Visit one new blog each week that is participating in the Hot 100 Challenge and cheer them on.  Been visiting.
  6. Do one no-added sugar day each week.  Done.

I totally rocked the challenge this week!  That felt damn good, too.  Just a good feeling week all around, I have to say, rain and all.

I made up a quick lunch of open-faced BBQ chicken and a pear.  Tasty!

I wanted a quick lunch so I could go out and do a few errands and then go to Starbucks to finish up work.

I got a decaf skim latte (aka the ‘why bother’) ).  Drizzled with a bit of honey. I love having a mobile job, even though the pay stinks…

Then it was home to get John and head out for dinner.  I won the football picks  again this week.  I am a rockstar, I tell you!

We went to Rock Hill Bakehouse as I have been craving soup and bread.  Colder weather just makes me want to warm up from the inside out.  I had the Jamaican Jerk chicken soup (spicy!) with an assortment of house made breads:

John got the NE clam chowder, which was also excellent.  You can tell when soup is made from scratch.  Then we walked around downtown a little bit and saw a new coffee shop that is opening up next week.  Yay!  They have bagels on the menu, so will have to check it out for bagel day once they open.

I need to keep any snacking under control tonight.  The weekend can be hard for me and I hope to get off on good footing tonight!

I’ll be running tomorrow morning in the cold…. brrrr….

Question:  What is your favorite soup?

    Favorite soup? Ooo, that’s a toughie. I like a good chicken veggie soup…cream of artichoke heart soup…hot & sour soup…and then there’s cioppino…

Hee hee…that made me laugh about the grunting. I don’t mind that, but I can’t stand it when I’m taking a class downstairs and the folks upstairs are dropping weights on the floor and sound like they’re going to crash right through the ceiling.

Congrats on your Hot 100 and football picks! And hope you have a great weekend!

For the regular season, we each pick the team we think is going to win for all 16 games. The one that wins the most gets to choose dinner and the loser has to buy.

For the post season, we do the NFL.com fantasy, just because it is easier to do with less teams.

I love the picture of your eats! The open faced sandwich looks awesome! Great idea on the open faced part, great way to eliminate a piece of bread.

I made a pumpkin enchilada soup that I just posted on my blog that was super, duper low calories and SO good. I have been craving it and so want to make it again this week! I’m planning to make a butternut squash soup with apple this weekend which sounds delicious!

My “go to” soup is my WW taco soup (equal parts: low sodium chicken broth, corn, black beans, fat free refried beans, and salsa) Yum and very speedy to make. This week I’m going to try a new recipe for fish chowder. If it’s as good as it was when I had it at my aunt’s house, it’ll be near the top of my list.

I think of you when I see eggnog now LOL!

    My favorite soup is this:

    1-1 1/2lbs lean ground beef(cooked)
1 small head of cabbage(I used cole slaw mix already shredded)
3 small cans of low sodium chicken stock
    2 cans of mixed veggies
    1/2 cup orzo pasta
    1/2 cup ketchup
    1 can diced tomatoes

Simmer for 15 to 20 mins

You can do 2 no sugar added days 😉 That’s a challenge!

I run outside on the weekend so looking forward to it being light for a bit so I can start earlier than I already do which is pretty early! 🙂

I love soup don’t really have a favorite, love them all.

I love the fact that you and John have this bet and go to dinner every week!

    Great workout as usual Lori!

  7. Pati

Wow! I’m very impressed! I found your blog through AOL and I’m right where you started. I need to loose 100 pounds. You see, I lost my younger sister in March of this year to a heart attack. It was so preventable if she had lost the weight that we both were carrying, gone to the doctor and gotten BP and cholesterol meds. Anyways, I’ve been working out at the gym and trying to eat better, and it is slowly coming off. I’m down 14 pounds. Do you mind if I follow your blog and adopt some of the healthy habits that have obviously worked for you?

Welcome Pati – please do follow and keep up the good work at losing! It is amazing how preventable so many things are if we just take care of ourselves!

    Hi
What a great website..just found it. I am right were you started..just like Pati. I have been working out the gym for 11 weeks now..doing cardio and strength training, working with a personal trainer 2 x week. I am seeing some results. (down about 10 lbs. and quite a few inches…YAY)
    But you are amazing.
Thanks so much for your blog and inspiration. You are so authentic and very real in your writing.
I want to be just like you!

    Lori,

I just came across your blog off of aol feature. First of all I have to say what a great job you are doing. You are truly an inspiration. I have been overweight all my life. I have been active and love getting out and doing things. I am a early childhood teacher by day and companion and caretaker of my aunt by night and weekends.
My question I tried to change my lifestyle as I put it cause I want that not a diet. To me a diet is something short term. I want to change my eating habits, exercise habits and all. So what should I do to get started? Do you like blogging? How long do you work out for and how many days a week? Should I go everyday? This is what I want to do and change myself for the better. I just afraid I do not have it in me to do? I am currently at 360. I lost some weight back in 2003-2004 and was doing great then some how it stopped and I got depressed.
I just do not know what to do.

Thank you for listening all thoughts are welcomed.

    Carol

Great Job on keeping your weight off!!!! I lost 125 4 yeaers ago and have let 75 creep back on- even though you say never again- I let it happen. I lost with 6 week body make over and that is a terrific eating plan. However, it is also very strict about what you can not eat and I am not that determined and controlled with being able to not eat some of those things. But the problem with eating whatever I want: I don’t know when to stop. I have a food addiction and one bite of flour, salt, sugar just throw me into an eat it all binge. I wish I could handle just one bite- or even just one serving and be able to stop. You look great by the way!! Amazing how we improve with weight loss.

I’m not a soup fan, much to my hub’s disappointment. But I do make a good pizza soup with tomato base, lots of spices, whole wheat pasta, and “pizza toppings.”
Your breakfast always looks sooooo amazing. Did you change your banner pics? Very cute.
