February goals

It’s a comin’! The snow’s a comin’! 😯   I knew I would have a chance to get in my lifting workout before it really hit. It was just starting to get a little sloppy out when I left the house this morning.

Lots of people with my idea of getting in a workout today to be able to stay home tomorrow.  Then I jetted home to make some brekkie! I did the peanut flour waffles today. I modified the recipe from 1/3 cup of cottage cheese down to 1/4 and had no waffle runoff today! I will amend the recipe page with this.

Looks like this is just floating there.  Introducing the new Hover Waffle!  I topped with blueberry sauce, but I think that the banana or apple topping suits the flavor of this waffle much better. Note to self.

A nice full morning of work and then a break for lunch.  It’s a little cold for a salad, but I wanted to use up the rest of the salad mix so it didn’t go to waste.

Yesterday I wrapped up January, so today I plan the rest of February!

February goals:

1. Continue with weight loss efforts.  I weighed myself once for the month of January.  I think I will up that to once a week for February.

2.  Experiment with some eating protocols. Just for fun.  I might try doing a couple low carb days just to see what they are like.  Or more likely paleo/primal type eating.

3. Be more productive with my down time.  Down time is great, but I don’t need to spend it all on the computer or playing games.  That means reading more books, going out for events, etc.

4. Do more recipe cooking and not just meal assembly.

5.  Clean the house for 15 minutes each day a la Fly Lady.

I feel like my goals right now are a little more low key until things start to ramp up in spring with more outdoor stuff to do and I have something to train for.

Latte time.  My raw honey drizzle matched Pixie, so I thought I would coordinate her with my drink.

What’s Pixie thinking here:

a.  Stop touching me.

b. What the hell is that?

c. You woke me up for this?

Today went by really fast, I have to say.  Dinner was an egg sammie with laughing cow and hot sauce.

I had an Arnold sandwich thin as the bun. I have to thank Arnold for changing up their sucralose thins and now using stevia instead.  I can eat these again!

I need to scrounge up a snack for tonight.  Snow storm #1 done.  Now to hunker down for the biggun’.  And do my 15 minutes of cleaning 😀

    Pixie is thinking C. 😉

Your goals made me smile. I told my family today that starting tomorrow we were going to be cleaning house for 15 minutes per day. Every one has to do their share. It’s amazing what you can accomplish in 15 minutes.

Great job on the weights. You’re strong! Where do you get your workout from? Just something that you put together or is there a master plan?

Great goals, the 15 mins of cleaning a day is a great one for my family too. I enlisted Nicholas’s help tonight with dinner (he cut up potatoes for baked fries) and Mike got Marie to help fold laundry. It’s so much easier to keep up if you do a little everyday.

    I vote “C” for pixie. 😛

    I love FlyLady. 🙂

Getting more productive in my downtime is something I’m working on as well…reading and crafting instead of internet surfing for now.

Sounds like great goals! Our schools are closed again tomorrow for our, um … 3-6 inches. LOL I laughed when I thought of all that you’re getting.

Glad you can still work despite the snow. Have a good evening!

I am waiting for the big storm too. Most likely tomorrow will be a snow day. Fun, fun, fun. I bought Oxygen magazine in anticipation of a nice relaxing day tomorrow.

I thought of you last night…I lifted weights for the first time in a long time…big 3 lbers…hee hee hee…I am actually feeling my triceps tonight.

Love the pic of Pixie and the latte.

I am intrigrued by your use of peanut flour…that waffle looks great. I will have to check out the recipe.

    Stay safe!

LOL! Pixie! I vote C. She doesn’t look happy at being woken up or moved around (but is still so adorable). This weather is killer, isn’t it? I can’t wait for spring either. I hope my feet are better so I can mix it up a bit more. Until then I’ll take a page from your book and try to amp up the lifting. Curious to know how your carb-free days will go. Do let us know!

Pixie is definitely thinking C because she is quite familiar with lattes, and of course she loves to be touched! 🙂

Good plans for your spare time – we all know that once the weather changes, you’ll be busy bike riding to cupcakeville and playing in your garden, so might as well get some indoor stuff done now!

Assembly is just like pulling out frozen shrimp and a couple sides.

Cooking is a recipe and creating a dish. At least that is how I think about it.

Thanks so much for the tip on the Arnold thins! I boycotted them after I bought them the first time and realized they had sucralose in them. Stevia is much better!

  8. debby

Yep, Pixie is saying C. And the 15 minute house cleaning. I’ve heard that before, and it seems like its not nearly enough. But I wonder if I did it EVERY day if it would work.

I’m with you on the trying new recipes too. Not so sure about the paleo–gotta check it out. Did you see Michael Pollan and some vegan chick on Oprah today?

It’s really surprising how much you can get done in 15 minutes if you don’t get distracted. I used to follow fly lady a lot and it is really helpful (although she is too subservient to her man for my tastes). We used her tips for moving and they worked great as well!

The food pics look really great with your new “invention” for it.

I like your February goals. I’ve been cutting back on internet time too since the beginning of this year and already read more. I try to have two internet free nights on weekdays to watch a movie, read, make a puzzle of do something else and so far I like it.

Pixie & coffee – can it get any better!!??? 😉 Love that pic & all your pics! I could have eaten the computer screen today with how the food jumps out & the blueberries look do amazing!

Lori, love your goals! We don’t always have to be crazed with them.. they are just right!

I just read your back story. Wow! And, those pictures, what a great transformation. I keep wondering WHAT is holding me back and WHY?
I love seeing success stories like yours.
    Breakfast with Helen? so jealous.

I did it! Bagel Wednesday. My reward for the crappy drive to work today. I hope you guys are getting snow and keeping power and not the ice storm we’re having. Would you please ask John if I can move with you? I could cook for you or something!

  13. Pubsgal

Oh, she’s definitely thinking “C.” (That’s what our cat would probably be thinking, too. With maybe a bit of option “B”.)

Our Trader Joe’s had peanut flour, too! Woot!!! So now I get to try making your peanut flour waffles! Probably on Sunday, since Little League is going to be sucking up our Saturdays for the rest of the school year.

  14. Susan

I lovelovelove all these goals. It’s like you went into my brain and picked some things I’m working toward as well. Especially number 4 (even though it’s noon on my day off and I’m still in my peejays reading blogs).

  15. Ang

I’m interested in seeing how your paleo/primal days go. I’ve considered it but I hate the thought of further limiting my diet when I feel ok as it is.

Love Pixie and the latte. I vote C as well! My cat has been soooo clingly lately. Ever tried sharing a yoga mat with a 15lb cat? It doesn’t make for a great workout! lol
