Super Sunday!

The last football game of the year (at least until preseason   ).  We were up early and actually able to get the car down the driveway without having to shovel the icy crap that came down last night.

Panera Bread was quiet and empty.  Settled in with coffee and a blueberry bagel!

It was so nice to relax.  We did our grocery shopping yesterday, so there was no hurry to get home.  Once we did get home, there was much shoveling to do.  Couldn’t use the snow blower on this stuff as it was too icy.  I was dripping sweat.  Now I don’t need to ride the trainer today!  We normally push the snow off our back porch.  We can’t do that anymore!

It’s actually falling back onto the porch LOL!

For the SuperBowl party, our duty was to make some homemade pretzels.  We used Alton Brown’s recipe (which we have before), except make pretzel bites since there were more people eating them.

I had a quick lunch of a pork burger with laughing cow before setting to making the pretzels.

Pretzel are so easy!  The ingredients are only flour, water, yeast, butter, salt and sugar.  Mix and get the dough ready for proofing:

I turn the oven on for 1 minute, then turn it off.  Then I put this bowl in the oven with the oven light on to keep the temp warm enough. After an hour, the dough has risen and it is ready for rolling and parboiling.  Instead doing pretzels like normal, we did smaller pieces just to be different.

This water has baking soda in it, which helps give the pretzels their shiny, chewy crust.

They boil for 30 seconds, then are placed on parchment, brushed with an egg wash and sprinkled with flavor.  Bake at 450 for 12-14 minutes. We did half with smoked sea salt and half with cinnamon sugar:

Taste test approved!

Afternoon snack time!  Latte and some yummy blueberries.

I can’t even begin to express my joy at these winter berries this year! 😆

Off to the game party!  Everybody brought something to share.

No one is leaving hungry tonight!

Loving some of the commercials so far!

Go Packers!

Not a big football fan but I’m cheering for the Packers beccause I love cheese. LOL Is that wrong?

Going to look up Alton’s recipe for pretzels now as I am a big time fan of pretzels. Can’t get near Auntie Anne’s.

Oh MAN those look good (or maybe I’m just drooling over the salt)…mmm!

I made a Weight Watchers hot spinach dip that turned out great. I could have seriously eaten all of it alone. LOL

That is funny, you posting in the middle of the superbowl. I was thinking today about how we are NOT twinsies in this area. I feel like a ‘football widow’ today. All my friends are watching the superbowl. No phone calls for me today! Thanks for posting.

I’m waiting for my chicken-corn chili to finish cooking. That seems like a nice superbowl meal, doesn’t it LOL? Thanks for sharing that recipe. I know its gonna taste good. I used less spicy chiles.

You make the pretzel recipe look so easy! Once the Jets were eliminated, my football joy was crushed, so I’m not doing anything this year. Husband is at a superbowl party with one of my tried and true recipes (jalepeno poppers – not remotely healthy. Not worth mentioning). That’s ok. Watching the kids and sticking to my WW points tonight. 🙂

Our favorite commercials were Darth Vader, Hubby liked the budlite dog one, and we liked the beaver one and the beetle one. You?

The Darth Vader one was very cute.

I loved the old men escaping from ‘rich jail’ and the Doritos one where he licked the fingers (which was both an ewwwww and LOL one).

I love it that Superbowl Sunday is such a big happening all over the USA and that a lot of you throw a party over it. Pretzels look good!

The Super Bowl is *the* biggest sports event in the US. Nothing else compares to it. Both the game and the commercials LOL!

I am a commercial watcher, not game, so we recorded & watched the commercials. Loved the VW one with the kid as Darth Vader!

OK, I will take some of every food in your pics! Bagel looked YUM, blueberries look delish & love your cup & I so wanted some of your pretzel bites! 🙂

    YIKES on the snow!

The pretzels look good! Might have to try those with the kids some day, though they could be dangerous as I LOVE, LOVE pretzels. 🙂 Didn’t even watch the bowl…never been a fan, but just check the score after to make sure we’re up to date. 🙂

Those pretzels turned out so good! Yep, the baking powder in the water is the trick.

And I’ll ignore the fact that you are a Packer fan!

Those pretzels look amazing! Super food for the Super Bowl. Not the most exciting game or halftime. But still a fun watch. Wow! That shoveling is a major workout. Definitely worked off the bagel. Hope y’all had tons of fun with salty goodness and the game.

Yum to the pretzels. I may try to make some GF ones if I get the time or energy!

It was nice to see the Packers win! I too like them mostly because of my love of cheese and the color green. ;p
