Weekend roundup

Glad you enjoyed the coconut butter post!  Good stuff if you are patient enough 😀

The Healthy Heart Weekend updates have been rolling in all weekend.  I’ll be compiling them up into one post after tomorrow when hopefully all participants have emailed me.  It’s very inspiring to read all these emails – so thank you so much for participating!

You know Sunday is the other bagel day, so we headed out for some relaxing.  I must say that I have been luxuriating in having 2 days off in a row now.  It feels so decadent!

My bagel yum:

We hit up the grocery store where I got a box of dark chocolate mint cups for one of the lucky participants in the Healthy Heart Weekend

Guess I need to stay out of them…

I made up a quick lunch of a lean sausage patty with laughing cow and some leftover brussels from last night’s dinner.

Surprisingly good to do the sausage and LC.

John and I went to a piano concert in the afternoon.  This is a new music venue in town.  This is the old court house and has been a couple of restaurants in the past.

I think they are opening another one downstairs and added the music to the upstairs.  The acoustics are quite good.

The piano is a Steck that has been refurbished.  Nice concert.  The only thing is that it kept us from lattes for longer than usual!  Plus the heat was not on until everyone got there and it was quite cold for most of the concert.

So we hurried home and made up the warming goodness.

😀  Happy John and Lori after this.

Since today was a higher carb day, I had some baked clam strips with dinner!  I haven’t had these in a while.

This has been snacked on during the day.  I just poured into a bowl for picture purposes:

Definitely my very favorite nut!

It’s just been a nice relaxing weekend.  I wish I could sleep in a little later, but I’ll take 2 days in a row hanging out with John any time!

Question: What was the best part of your weekend?

Oh I can almost taste those dark chocolate mints LOL. But wait, I’d rather have your home roasted coffee!

Anyway, the best part of my weekend? Probably the six mile hike. I was pretty proud of that. Followed closely by the frozen yogurt. Followed closely by sitting in Starbucks sipping on some good coffee and reading. Followed closely by some time on the couch stitching. Oh. I guess it was a pretty good weekend LOL.

Love that bagel action! The best part of my weekend was hanging out with my favourite aunt and uncle, who were visiting from the UK. So lovely to chill and chat (and eat!) with people I love. 🙂

Every time I see the pictures of you bagels I start craving bagels. YUMMY! So this week I will be heading to Einsteins for a bagel treat. Can’t wait to see the post on heart healthy weekend, so exciting to hear there was so much participation. :-)The best part of my weekend was my walk yesterday with my husband. It is nice to get out of the gym into the sunshine.

I had so many great experiences this weekend, but the highlight was seeing my son.

I enjoyed swimming a couple of times, chanting, a fun party, great meals (made by me :-)), just watched a nice movie…what more could I ask for?

Glad you were able to listen to some music today…nice for you and John.

    Mmmmm….that bagel DOES look good!!!!

Best part of the weekend – by far – was the challenge I did today. 2000 meter swim (1.24mi) followed by a 3.25mi run on the tmill. (Oh, and a 15min cooldown on the bike!!)

Doing it – and proving to myself I COULD do it – was the best.

So a big huge thank you to setting up this challenge!!

Cool that the both of you went to a piano concert.

Everytime I see a bagel on your blog remembers me I need to pick a date with K. for lunch at the bagel store nearby 🙂

Best part was working in one of our DIY-stores although it was a very long day (from 7 am till 7 pm) I had a lot of fun.

The best part of my weekend was a very long walk yesterday afternoon with Mr. B at Ijams Nature Center, one of our local treasures. I didn’t officially sign up for the Heart Healthy Weekend Challenge because you announced when I was really sick and not paying attention, but in the end, I did it anyway!! Our weather was amazing and the long walk went a long way toward helping me get my mental outlook back together. It’s been a LONG, LONG winter!

    That bagel look sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo delish!

I take 2 days off in a row every week & I love it & so does my bod! 🙂

I love the pics of your town.. thx for sharing.. so quaint to me here in busy CA!

I am guessing I can’t make coconut butter in a magic bullet! 😉

Does Pixie get a V-Day present?

My two days off are from the job LOL! I used to work 6 days a week for the better part of a year. I usually don’t do 2 days in a row off from workouts.

The Magic Bullet won’t work for the coconut butter, unfortunately.

Most definitely Mr. Helen coming home from his trip. It seems absence does make the heart grow fonder!

The bagel and hot chocolate I had after my run on Saturday was a close second though… 😀

There was a lot to love about this past weekend! Being the neigborhood den mother, making mud pies with my daughter, watching hockey with my husband-not to mention our date night with sunset hike and Thai food, and our weekly weekend family brunch. The bike ride was icing on the cake-just wish it had been earlier in the day so I wouldn’t feel quite so rushed, but I guess that enhanced the heart-healthiness of it, LOL!

Your favorite nut is the cashew! My favorite nut is my husband Dennis! (sorry, couldn’t resist!) The old courthouse looks BEAUTIFUL from the outside!! Sounds like a good weekend. Have a good week ahead!

Cashews are my favorite too! 🙂 The best part of my weekend was probably baking lots of delicious goodies yesterday. I love baking.

I don’t like coconut much but the chocolate coconut butter wants me to dig out a food processor.
