Happy Valentine’s Day!

Yes, it is a Hallmark Holiday, but fun nonetheless! John and I normally do not do anything special for Valentine’s, but since this year is a milestone year for us (15 years in the fall), we decided to go out to dinner.

I was ready to get my sweat on this morning at the gym.  I decided on a short run today of 3 miles.  The time went by very quickly, too, which is always nice.  I have decided that I really can take or leave running.  If I could not bike again, I would be devastated, but running, not so much.

I was thinking about breakfast while I was running.  Peanut flour waffles with blueberries and coconut butter!

Piled high in a stack for a nice photo.  Of course, this stack was a little hard to eat, but I managed…

Gorgeous day here – it hit 50 degrees!  Still will be weeks before we see the ground though.  And the 50 was only for today.  Back into the 20s tomorrow.

Lunch time was an old favorite – egg salad!

I am now jokingly referring to my reduced carb days as my ‘fat’ days as I eat a lot more fat on these days.  And you know, I’m likin’ it!  A lot.

I have switched my milk over to 2%.  We used to drink 1%, but really the calorie difference is pretty negligible at 20 and only a couple more grams of fat – yet more filling.

Latte topped with this new Saigon cinnamon I got.  Instead of the usual 2.5% essential oil that cinnamon has, this stuff has 5%.  It is very intense – almost like a cinnamon redhot and it kind of burned my lips the first time I used it on a pear because I put on the normal amount that I usually do.  I learned.

Dinner time with my true love tonight!

We went out to Raul’s, which is Mexican a little upscale.  What is nice is that they don’t give you an endless bowl of chips and salsa.  Thank you!

I had a bowl of chicken lime soup to start:

And then a beef burrito with cheese, caramelized onion, and tomato.

Very tasty.  And the company was nice.  We  wanted coffee, but wanted to digest a bit first.  So, that meant walking around downtown and a stop at the romantic library!

I have an embarrassing amount of books out right now.  I got 2 more, which brings my total to 14.  I have finished a good chunk of those already, I just haven’t returned them yet.

Then it was time for coffee.

Isn’t my date handsome?  15 years and I still like spending time with him.

Hope all of you had a wonderful day! I’ll have the Healthy Heart Big Post done on Tuesday.  I am compiling the pics and links into a big post.  Then I will draw the winners!

What a great day and lovely evening!!! Yes, your date is handsome.

We don’t do anything special either, but D did get me a card that made me cry and some lottery tickets! Yippee!

    Very handsome date indeed 🙂
I’ll have to look for that cinnamon but i doubt whether i’ll find it here, i’ll have to look for it online!

Oh I’m glad Shelley changed that question mark into a heart!

What a nice way to spend Valentine’s Day together. I love that you went to the library together.

    What a great date!

Can you borrow books unlimited at the library? Here we have a limit of 7 books. And do you have to return them within a special time? Here you have to return them after 3 weeks or renew your period for 3 weeks online.

I don’t know if there is a book limit. I know it is at least 14 LOL! We can keep the books for 4 weeks and then can renew them 2 more times. However, if your first 4 weeks is up and someone has a request in for the book, you have to bring it back.

Oh and about the salads: it’s weird that that is bothering me now after all these years. I’ve been eating salads for lunch for years now and never had troubles. But I guess your body can change and that it can’t handle certain foods at a point. Maybe it will pass but for now no more salads at lunch for me. I’ll eat more cooked vegetables and night and will add more fruits.

Yes, Lori, you have quite a handsome date and IMHO, that was a great Valentine’s celebration. Isn’t it such a gift to be married to someone you actually enjoy spending lots of time with and feel totally connected to?

You & John are so cute!!!

OK, that stack of waffles is amazing & all your talk of higher fat with lower carbs but still livable for me, well, I am thinking about it.. can’t wait for your results & I will decide!

Hey, on eggs, at least every news story says how great they are for us now! I get cinnamon from Costco & I think it is the Saigon kind.

OK, I hate to say this.. I am having Pixies withdrawals….. I need a pic! 🙂

ITA – even though it’s a Hallmark Holiday absolutely nothing wrong with having fun with the one you love! I’m always amazed at how much your weather mirrors ours – 52 yesterday, not getting out of the 20s today plus we’ve got a wicked wind chill. I guess that’s all the more reason to cuddle up.

I avoid Raul’s simply because they have AMAZING chips and salsa, I can devour a serving in a heartbeat! <3

Looks like you had a lovely evening! 🙂 I have to say it's nice to know I'm not the only one who takes an excessive amount of books out from the library at a time. I have 10 out and have requested 2 more! Yikes!

That waffle picture is gorgeous!! Sounds like the perfect valentine’s Day to me. I hope to have a relationship like yours someday Lori!

P.S. Thank you for the well wishes about my injury. I remember when you were sidelined last year and hope to come back as strong as you did!

Yay for 15 years! Love that your date ended at the library! We usually end up at the library or bookstore after our daytime dates! We’re party animals like that! LOL! We’ll have to find a way to double date sometime!

Congrats on the upcoming 15 this year. That’s reason to celebrate every night 🙂

LOVE Mexican food but unlike you, I’d gladly welcome endless bowls of chips and salsa – the only time I eat them.

Like the others, I’m drooling over those waffles! Peanut flour sounds delicious–would you mind sharing the recipe?

I love that you do a “short” run of three miles. 🙂

Looking forward to seeing the results of all the workouts/runs/biking this past weekend; congrats to everyone who participated.

Sounds like a great Valentine’s Day! This was the 8th V-day spent with my husband and there is still no one else I’d rather spend time with! 🙂 Instead of romance we had a family birthday dinner for my daughter.
