Then I came home for a bagel.

Yep – at home! We stopped at Panera Bread last night and picked up a couple bagels to have for breakfast. There just wasn’t enough time for me to work out, get John, have bagels, take him home and me go to the office to work. We only have 1 car and no biking yet.

So how is that going, you ask? Yesterday was an interesting day. It was like doing my job that I do every day at home, only doing it in a different place. The people in the office are very nice, but I didn’t talk too much, since I had work to do. I am the only one in the office that does transcription. Everyone else does either administration work or IT work. I think they don’t quite know what to make of me LOL!

I was worried about bringing in all my food as I wasn’t sure what to expect for the office area, but it was quite cushy! There is a big fridge, microwave, and one of those Keureg brewer things with all kinds of coffee to choose from. I had brought my own milk in a jar with a french press and coffee, but turns out I only needed the milk!

It is kind of in the middle of nowhere outside of town.  This is the view outside:

Complete with the snow that is never going away!  Biking here would be  a little tough.

Here is a view of my work station. I have a window! Plus 2 big screens to look at, which is quite different from using my little netbook.

A little messy as it took me some time to get organized.

I am having some ergonomic problems getting used to this desk and chair, and they are getting me a keyboard drawer so I am more comfortable. The office is very laid back. Almost too much so. I have to really do some thinking.  I have one more question to ask tomorrow, and then I can make a decision.

Lunch time at work was part of my packed stash:

Plain greek yogurt with some honey, chopped strawberries, and flax seed. Yum!

This office likes to eat. Yesterday they did Taco Bell, today another restaurant as take out, not to mention that they brought in Dunkin Donut bagels this morning.  Maybe they know it is bagel Wednesday?? I didn’t have any of this stuff.  I don’t want to seem rude or anything, but I also don’t want to feel pressured to eat foods that I don’t normally eat.

I did, however, take full advantage of the Keurig coffee brewer!  Yay!  Lots of choices of coffee to have.  I bring my own milk because they just have the CoffeeMate creamers (hello trans fats). Not to mention the creamers are sweet, which I don’t care for.

I had a snack of some coconut bread.

This bread is more like a cornbread biscuit and keeps me full because it has fat in it.  I’ll post the recipe tomorrow.

I was glad to get home.  I am the last one to leave the office.  That last half hour or so is so silent.  It makes me have a lot of feelings of separation anxiety from John.  That is also something I am struggling with.

I came home and made a quick dinner.  Eating later is easier when I have some precooked items.

I had chicken with laughing cow and the last squidges of hot sauce ( 😯  ).  Maybe there is one more serving in the bottle.

John got up to shenanigans while I was gone today.  He made up some of the cutest little chocolate chip cookies with some peanut flour in them.

That’s a snack for tonight.  I need to decompress, practice guitar, and I think I will hop on the trainer to do the decompression!

Interesting day…the new place looks cool. Can’t wait for your decision. It must have been very different for you to be without John and Pixie all day.

My team at work likes to go out to eat a lot and have food days. Due to gluten freeness I usually decline…on the food days I just eat what I make to bring in…it annoys some people but that is none of my concern.

I am looking forward to the recipe for the coconut bread…do those cookies only have peanut flour? If so, I would be interested in that recipe too.

I am not sure of the exact ingredients, but I think there is regular flour because John usually bakes with that. I know there is protein powder in there as well.

Decompress – that is a big part of leaving the office. Hope you have a good evening. Good luck with making your decision.

Oh, and nice job fitting in Bagel Wednesday!

    Hooray for Bagel Wednesday!

It seems this is definitely a big change for you. I hope you are able to completely decompress & sort things out.

Believe me when I say that a whole lot of people in my office buy food almost daily but I steadfastly tote my food every day!

I have coconut flour on my list for the next time I visit my favorite health food store, so i’m anxiously waiting for the recipe 🙂
I decompressed by shovelling snow tonight, I did think that if you could do it I could do it too! Thanks for the motivation.

Office life – ehhhh. I wouldn’t give up working from home to work in an office, but that’s just me. I’m curious to see what you decide. It sounds to me like they’re excited to have you and willing to accommodate to your requests. 🙂

At my office they’re CONSTANTLY ordering out food too, must be a bonding thing?? I mean, one of the things in my desk when I came in was a file folder of all the menus for local restaurants! It was a lot harder when I first started watching what I was eating than it is now. People bring in food to share also, but I work with mostly men and well, they inhale anything that comes in before I even get a chance to see what it is – and that’s fine, lol

You guys must’ve thrown the people at Panera off by coming in on Tuesday evening and not during the day on Wednesday!

Well, working at home isn’t always what you think it might be, surprisingly.

This office is north of LG village, so you probably know how isolated it can be!

Lori, is it my imagination or do I see a cat in the window of your new office?? I see a photo of a kitty on the shelf, but it doesn’t look like Chloe or Pixie.

Hmmm, interesting change, that’s for sure. I like the office–looks kind of comfortable. You’re not worried about all the outside food influence?

    I WANT SOME STRAWBERRIES!

The office looks like a living room to me, very nice environment to work in.
I wish you luck with making the decision that’s right for you, must be a tough one. I don’t know what I would do when I was in your shoes. What does John think about it?

We have a restaurant at work where most of us eat. We have a snack counter which I pass but we also have a salad bar which is great, we have 3 different salads every day to choose from and can add all kinds of toppings on that like olives, wallnuts, tomatoes, cucumber etcetera.

Good luck on making your decision Lori.

Sounds like you are torn – good luck making your decision!
I am very interested in the recipe with coconut flour – this is a recent new ingredient I have seen in my health food store, I haven’t bought any yet to try out.

Lori, there are always pros & cons to decisions like this & I can understand the separation thing.. John too! I have worked office stuff & being able to eat at home & use the bathroom at home..well, I know TMI but I prefer the home but yes, there are always two sides. I know you will do what is right for you. If it the decision does not work out, you can just go for something else…

So how has Pixie handled you gone???

    That coconut bread looks amazing!

I love that John bakes. And cookies!!!

That office space looks so homey. Little window with curtains and everything. If there was only room for Pixie. 😉

    Hi Lori,
Good luck making the best decision for you and John!!! It’s a very cozy workstation, and a window? BONUS!!! Take care!!!!

Good luck making your decision! I am terribly indecisive but usually just go with my gut!

I wish my office had a Keurig. I have one and LOVE it.

Ooops! Guilty of using bad transfat creamer with my coffee. lol

You’ll get into the swing of things real soon. Offices with break rooms feel the need to keep them well stocked. Watch out for that 😉
Good luck in the new space/old job. It will be fun!
