Surprise sunny day

It is spring! Here is some evidence:

Aren’t they beautiful? These are from my parents’ lilac bush.

They make the house smell so nice.

The roads were wet this morning, but the sun came out. I didn’t trust it to last, though. I headed out to the gym for a nice lifting session:

Exercise Set/rep/weight Muscle worked
Low Back Extension 3 sets of 15 at 80# Low back
Dumbbell Pull Over 3 set of 10 with 20# DB Back
Biceps Curls 3 sets of 10 with 30# bar Biceps
Pushups 3 sets of 10 Chest
Calf Raise 3 sets of 12 at 110# Calves
Nosebreakers 3 sets of 10 with 25# bar Triceps
Pliet Squat 3 sets of 10 with 35# DB Lower Body
Reverse Crunch 3 sets of 15 Core
Bent Lateral Raise 3 sets of 10 with 10# DBs (20# total) Shoulders

While I was there (and feeling chubby, I might add), a woman said to me “Lori, you look like have you lost weight” I was uncomfortable with that for some reason. I think because of my own feeling at that point. I told her I didn’t think so, but maybe it was all the biking.  Then I thanked her for the compliment, which is what I should have just done in the first place.

Of course, I really do *not* know what I weigh  since I have not stepped on a scale since March 31st.  I have days where I feel thinner and days where I feel heavier.  I think once May is up, I am going to weigh myself again.  I think the nebulousness of just going by clothing isn’t helping my psyche. I am starting to second guess myself.

Headed on home hungry.  I made up a 1 minute muffin/waffle, topped with some peanut flour and homemade strawberry jam.

I made the PB flour a little more liquidy so it would be a bit runny.  Raise your hand if you think I wolfed this down.  Come on – I want to see all of them up!

Today turned out to be a really nice day.  We were expecting rain all week and the sun decided to come out and play all day!

I took advantage of that and took a break from work to mow the lawn. It felt so good to get outside!

Lunch time salad today:

I had a packet of this dressing.

This packet will last me for 3 salads, even though it is a ‘single’ serving packet.

John made up some lattes today, which I enjoyed with a dark chocolate mint cup.  The last one.

Then I was a little hungry, so I had a ramekin of cereal.

I stopped at this, though, which is a victory for me.

When dinner time rolled around, I fell back on a standard.

Using my perfect omelet technique *patent pending*

We watched some of the Tour of California during dinner, which got us both hankering for a bike ride!  We checked the radar and saw the all clear for at least a couple hours, so we hit the trails for some of this:

This is tiramisu cheesecake yogurt.  Yes indeed – it was tasty!  It felt wonderful to be outside again!  Too bad tomorrow is back to rain.

Question: Do you have a fall back meal you rely on?

The sun came out this afternoon and I was thrilled. We may still get out to see the tulips at our Botanical Gardens! Soon we will have the Iris Festival and the Lilac Festival…not to mention the Rose Festival! Love it.

My fall back meal is either an omelette or scrambled eggs. Eggs make fast and easy meals!

Lilacs are my favorite… back home (in Rochester where I grew up) it’s Lilac Festival time. It seems everything is reminding me of “home” these days… not that I’d ever leave Albuquerque, but sometimes it just gets me all misty.

I love lilacs–the scent, the color, the shape–everything about them! My lilac did really well this year. And, I had frozen yogurt today–yahoo!

I love the Lilac, I still want one in my garden. I love the smell of them and they attract a lot of butterflies which I love too.

Meals look good my friend as always!

And next time: just say thank immediately you when someone says that you lost weight. I recognize it however, if someone tells me I look good I often say but…. and have something negative to add to it about myself. I’m learning and I’m getting better at just receiving a compliment.

Isn’t it funny that people often compliment us on days that we don’t feel particularly thin? I get that too, sometimes.

Funny that your tulips and lilacs are out now – ours have been finished up for a couple weeks now! Enjoy them – they do smell so GOOD!

I totally understand how you were feeling about the compliment. I find it hard to accept compliments no matter what they are about. So, I’ve trained myself to just say “thank you” because otherwise I start feeling like I need to justify the person’s compiment which usually ends up negating it.

Our sun never did come out – boo – hiss! I am jealous of the sun and shadows in your photo for sure. Jeepers.

Here’s to both of us seeing some sun this weekend!

Why is it so hard for us to accept compliments?! I do the same thing. Aren’t compliments supposed to make us feel better? For me, it’s the opposite! I feel uncomfortable and exposed or something! I’m a weirdo. 😐

Anyway, I want to come visit you so I can eat tiramisu cheesecake yogurt! YUM!

We have a gorgeous and very aromatic lilac tree at the tip of our yard. Everyday I pass it and want to clip some flowers because, as you said, they make the entire house smell wonderful.

    My go to meal: eggs.

Isn’t it weird how you can “FEEL” chubby? And of course, that’s when people comment on weight loss. LOL That happens to me too.

Well I think you look great. And if the scales are a bit higher, I bet it’s because of the cycling. Thigh muscles MUST weigh more after a lot of cycling!

If you’re second guessing, why not just step on the scale now? Save yourself some angst. Although I do wonder if we former overweights will ever be completely comfortable with our new bodies. I think you look great, and if you are feeling chubby, just look at your before pictures – that should have you feeling thin in no time! 🙂

Looks like you had a great day. My fall back meal is always eggs 🙂 I bet we have them for dinner once or twice every week. Yea, sometimes it’s tough taking a compliment but you know people say them because them mean them 🙂

I raised my hand for you! 😉

Love the tulips & lilacs Lori. I do love lilacs!!!

On the scale, I know the hates & loves of this piece of equipment out there but I do rely on it. I have a post coming up this week about why I feel the scale is important to me – even though I use my clothes too! I am not pushing the scale on anyone cause some people it freaks out but for me, it does tell me the truth in certain ways – more on that in the post – a tease! 😉

Hooray for sun! Love it. I almost always have a soup or chili in the deep freeze – I keep forgetting since my daughter works so much, that it’s just me and my husband, yet I keep making food for a family of six!

Enjoy your weekend – I thought of you this morning – I got my bike out for the first time, filled the tires and half way through my 5 mile bike ride, my tires were nearly flat – I told a co-worker about it this morning and she’s going to bring me her bike she hasn’t used in 5 years – score!

  14. Roz

The lilacs are GORGEOUS!!! The smell of lilac takes me right back to being a little girl, we had a lilac tree in our yard…. I also LOVE the tulip photos!!! Have a wonderful weekend!

  15. cammy@tippytoediet

The lilacs are gorgeous! I’m landscaping my backyard (on paper, for now) and I must include a couple of lilacs.

I have days when I feel chubby, and days when I feel less so. It bugs me a little, but I guess it comes with the territory.

For fallback meals, I almost always have one of my DIY frozen entrees on hand. Failing that, I can usually turn to tuna or eggs. Or Subway. 🙂
