Happy Memorial Day!

A big thank you to all past and present military people who have done so much for our great country.

This is a weekend that is always full of barbecues, picnics and parades.  Last night after my wonderful ride, we had s’mores!

It’s been a couple years since I have had s’mores.

Yum.

I felt fine today, other than some sunburn.  Can sunscreen expire?  I put it on twice and still got burned.  Argh.

I had a 1-minute muffin for breakfast.

There was only about half an hour of work for me to do today, so I ended up with pretty much a 3-day weekend!  It was really nice, I have to say.  I got a chance to just putter around.  It was quite hot as well. 85 degrees today!  We sat out on the porch and watched the Memorial Day parade come by our house:

Fun stuff!  There is a benefit to living on the main street in town.  Front row seats to every parade!

We headed out to the mall after that to poke around.  I didn’t find much, but we enjoyed a beverage and split a scone:

I am surprised that I wasn’t overly hungry today.  That usually happens the day after long rides.  Maybe it was the s’mores?

We came back and did the grilling thing for dinner.  John barbecued some chicken thighs and we had sandwiches on some rolls that I had made.

These were ones I made for my dad as a belated birthday present, so we had to have a couple for taste testing purposes, right?

I feel pretty refreshed right now, I have to say.

Question:  What was the best part of your weekend?

Lori, I think we drove right by your house this afternoon! We spent the weekend in Glens Falls and went down to eat lunch near the Wilton Mall. We drove back up through Fort Edward and Hudson Falls. What a nice weekend!

It was beautiful weather, wasn’t it? If you went through main street in FE, then you did go by our house LOL.

That looks so nice and home-towny. You made me want a coffee–I’m gonna go brew one right now. BTW, those pancakes from yesterday look so fantastic. Are you going to share that recipe?

Cool always having front row seats to any parades!

The best parts of my weekend were seeing my son and Sadhguru.

Sunscreen can expire. Ours usually have a date on them.

I think sunscreen lasts a year, Kimberly is right most have dates on them! 🙂

I love s’mores, but unfortunately due to the crazy rain we had up north off and on all weekend I had to cook mine in the microwave, haha

What a fun day. The sandwich looks delicious! I’ve heard sunscreen lasts one year too. Although the sunscreen I used yesterday is at least three years old and it worked just fine!

So fun that the parade went right by your place! Your town looks really lovely!!!! Glad you had a good weekend Lori!

That parade looks fun, we don’t have much of this. Sometimes every 5 years when we celebrate the liberation after the second world war but not everywhere.

You’ve asked how I bake my eggs, well it’s simple: put some butter in a pan, break an egg and bake it, that’s it.

Our town has parades all the time it seems. The next one will be 4th of July, then heritage days, then Labor day!

I totally forgot about s’mores. Gotta have those during
