June Goals and tire issue solved!

It’s Bagel Wednesday! Even though we didn’t bike there, we did still get there on 2 wheels:

I had my usual wheat bagel.

It was over toasted on one side.  Must have gotten stuck in the toaster or something.

Another hot day on tap today with storms a brewing.

Pixie says – somebody please turn on the fan!!

So the goals for June.  It’s my birthday month, so there has to be lots of fun in there!

1.  So that’s the first goal then.  Enjoy turning 43! That will happen this weekend.

2. Go no TV for one week. Starting the first full week of June.  John wanted to do this, so I am joining him. Who wants to join us for this one?  No TV.  No netflix movies on the computer either.  I can read the news on the internet. Should I made that an official challenge to anyone who wants to join?

3. Operation Sleep.  I must work on finding some way to get more sleep. I am going to get a sleep mask to start and see how that works, plus I am getting some supplements like 5HTP and magnesium.

4.  I am finally really ready to progress on losing this last bit of weight that I have talked about for the last 2 years.  Now I am ready.  Of course, it will take longer than a month, but I am going to really keep control of nibbling and eat good nutritious foods (except on long ride days LOL).

5. Sitting less for work.  As a transcriptionist, I sit very still during the day.  That is a lot of sitting! I am going to experiment this month with my work station to try to do some work standing or sitting on an exercise ball.  My goal is to work up to 3 hours of my workday in the new position.

Okay – those sound good to me!  So does lunch:

I ate this lunch on the porch today.  I got the mail hand delivered to my by the mail carrier as well since I was out there.  That is nice service 😀

After lunch, I headed to Inside Edge to see about my bike tire.  Back at the end of April, I ran over a beer bottle and got a flat.  I pulled out the chunk of glass, but what I didn’t know was that a tiny sliver was left behind.  After putting several hundred miles on the bike, that little sliver of glass worked its way through to the inside of the tire.  The shop guys turned the tire inside out and felt where the shard was coming through and pulled it out.  it was about this size – “O””.  Tiny, but razor sharp.  That was poking a hole into each tube.  Nice to know it wasn’t serious like the rim or needing a whole new tire.  I’ll be on the road again soon enough!  They didn’t charge me, either, but I did buy another tube.

Nice afternoon latte today:

Made with almond milk today.  Actually the unsweetened vanilla almond milk.  I like this stuff.

Work still amazingly busy.  I will have to work at night a bit because of taking some time to go to the bike shop today.  Love that job flexibility!

Dinner time and since it is hot, we wanted something easy.  Eggs always fit that bill.  I just scrambled them and put a laughing cow on top.

Plus french cut green beans sauteed in coconut oil.  How about that for a change up?

I got my new tube in and put the tire on my bike all by myself after dinner.  It took me a good half hour to do, too! Good skill to know.

I am going for a short solo ride tonight.  Not too far in case I have a problem, but I just want to get in a little trip 😀  Work can wait until I get back.

Question: Do you have any goals/non-goals for June?

I’m so glad you figured out what was wrong with the bike. Had it kept continuing that would have made for a not very fun summer!

  2. Kimberley

Great goals! I rarely watch television now that Glee and America’s Next Top Model are done for the season…I sleep plenty (too much on my days off), and I sit on an exercise ball all night long…that is what I have at my desk at home.

Guess I will have to join you on the losing weight goal!

Those green beans look super! I over bought fresh vegetables, so I am taking my green beans for lunch tomorrow and I will have them raw with leftover chicken souvlaki and tzatziki. Can’t wait!

    Oh that Pixie…always so cute!

Great job on the tire! Hope your ride was fun!

Yay for friendly and helpful bike shop people. I love the bike shops here in Columbia, MO. My goals for June are to do 5 cardio sessions per week, 3 strength, keep the calories between 1600-1680, and enjoy some good patio time.

Glad you got your tire issue figured out, i had 3 flats in short time period last year, You can get pretty good and fast at changing tubes when it happens that often lol

  5. debby

I am envying that little green scooter! Really cute.

No challenge giving up tv for me LOL.

I guess you’ve already tried melatonin for sleep?

Glad to hear the bike tire issue has hopefully been fixed. And nice of the bike shop to not charge you – I guess that’s pretty standard, as mine didn’t charge me when I brought my bike in with a flat. Just paid for the tube – maybe they figure you paid enough for the bike so service is free? Haha, wish car dealers would do that!

June is an easy month to give up TV – there’s almost nothing on. Now if it were October? I might have a problem, lol!

Pixie is like my Preston…too much fur for this heat!

No TV for a week is a good one, that’d be worthwhile for me to try.

Glad to hear you got your bike figured out, it’s also good to know Inside Edge is good place to take bikes to in case if I ever have a problem with mine!

Whew! Glad you got the bike issue resolved! I hope you had a productive and uneventful ride!

#1 – Happy Birthday, if I don’t make it back for the weekend!
#2 – Not a chance, with The Closer season starting up next week, but thank you for the invitation. 🙂
#3&4 – I’m good here, but I’ll be cheering you on!
#5 – My balance ball doesn’t work at my desk. I need to find a table that’s a little lower.

I once dropped a smidge of coconut oil in my green beans during cooking and I was amazed at how much flavor it added! I need Kroger to run another sale on coconut oil before my Dad’s green bean crop comes in. 🙂

Happy early bday!!!!!!!!!! Your special day!

Sounds like some good goals! Nope – sorry & willing to admit that I can’t go a week without TV… things I like to watch & I record & watch them at night or doing abs/stretching so I multi task in that way.. you are brave!

Ah, sleep – this age things does not help – I hope it passes at some point!

My goal for June – survive it! 😉

    LOVE THAT PIXIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Helen

I love your monthly wrap up and new monthly goals posts Lori! They always give me a shot of inspiration to think my own stuff over.

I am with you on the sitting too much. I have actually been setting a reminder to pop up every hour and make myself get up and either walk around the building or march in place for 5 minutes or so.

Glad you got that tire issue resolved and I hope your short ride was great!

Only 2 more days and we are of the same age again 🙂

I definitely won’t be joining you in no TV for a week. I don’t watch that much TV. For me a week without internet would be very more challenging although I try to unplug from it at least 1 night a week and do something else like watch TV 🙂

My only goal is to build up a consistent running training again. I need to get back on track with that. I have only 1 week of work left and then a 3 week holiday so June is more about enjoying ourselves and don’t be to strict at food.

  12. Joanne

Love the scooter. That must be fun to ride around on – great on gas!
Those are some good goals for June. As of right now, no real goals – just enjoying every day as it comes.
