Bagel Wednesday and jazz in the park

There was a small front that went through last night and the temps fell down into the upper 50s.  It was glorious!  I slept like a log – hooray!  John said Pixie managed to get into the bedroom and got in his face and I didn’t even stir, which is pretty amazing.

It was 58 degrees when we left the house this morning.  Awesome! We biked to breakfast today, taking a loop around town before ending up at the coffee shop.

I had a honey wheat bagel today.  With Minnie in Paris:

Then we looped around to home for a total of 11 miles today.  Now the next heat wave comes.  The temps rose 30 degrees in the space of about 5 hours today – crazy!  Not much biking going to happen in the next few days.  Too hot and humid. Booo…

I broke for lunch and did my usual hot weather fix:

This is a new cereal, which I may not be able to buy again because this is what I snacked on the other day.  It is really good, though.

Watched some of the tour during lunch.  It is very exciting this year, I have to say!  After following it for a few years, now I think I really understand how it works and the strategies.  It just takes a while (like learning football).

Here is a shot of Pixie going back to school:

The Queen of Calculus.

Afternoon snack.

Decaf iced latte paired with:

Balance bar because I had the hankering for something sweet and I wanted to avoid the chocolate chips!

I am doing okay on the no caffeine front.  I have been very tired the last couple days, but no headaches or crankiness. At least I don’t think I am cranky. The family may disagree.

Dinner time and time for omelets!

This had some grilled chicken in it topped with laughing cow and carmelized onions.  I will do a post tomorrow on how to make these.  It’s easy, although it takes a little time.

On tonight’s agenda? Instead of mother/daughter cafe night, we did music in the park night.

A little jazz:

A little fruit:

A pretty sunset:

And then some fireworks:

That picture came out pretty good with my little digital

This was a nice mid week break.

Lucky you on the break from the heat…tomorrow is supposed to be our worst day.

Love the pics of jazz night.

Is there anything that Pixie doesn’t understand? 😉

Nice break you got from the heat. We had a bit of a break this morning but not as cool as yours and we are a lot farther north than you. Odd weather this year.

I had a really nice time with you tonight, Lori! Good company, good music, a nice park….and fireworks!

Wow, that fireworks picture is impressive. Was it a celebration of something in particular?

Man, very impressed with the caffeine free Lori.

That Minnie Mouse picture? I thought that was a life-size Minnie at some amusement park, and I couldn’t figure out what she was doing with a gigantic bagel in front of her!

No celebration. Fireworks happen every week in our area. Lake George does them every Thursday for the tourists. Fort Edward does a small show every Wednesday after the music. It’s sponsored by GE.

I’m on Long Island and we’re suffering from “the three H’s,” Hazy, Hot and Humid!!! It’s supposed to get much worse by the weekend. I love your blog and I’m following it religiously along with runsforcookies. Question: what was lunch in the picture? Is that greek yogurt at the bottom of the cereal and strawberries? Everything you eat looks delicious!!! I’m finally realizing how much more I can eat when I incorporate fruits and vegetables! For lunch today I roasted sliced zucchini, chopped green peppers and grape tomatoes with a little olive oil and seasoning. Probably not the best day to have the oven on, but it was delicious!!!!

Lunch was strawberries, plain greek yogurt and cereal. Sometimes I drizzle it with honey.

      Your lunch sounds good!

What a great evening spent in the middle of the week, love it!

Hooray for 11 miles! Glad temperatures dropped for a little bit for a little while. Hang in there 🙂 I can try to blow some of our rain over to you if you want 🙂

The fireworks picture IS amazing. My camera just makes fireworks look like tiny blobs.

We are all jealous of your temporary respite from the heat. As I was driving into work this morning the guys on the radio talked about how COOL it would be today – “only 90”!! Only??

I bought that exact same cereal last week but haven’t tried it yet. Glad to hear it tastes good!

Lucky you having temps that low. We haven’t been below around 72 overnight for days. I’m not complaining though because it could be 22!

I would have loved to share jazz night with you. Amazing fireworks shot – my little digital never can capture them properly.

Lori, I so can NOT bring cereal into the house & I like the healthy ones better than the other stuff – I just want to snack on them non stop! 😉 I understand!

Pixie – not sure she is getting the full impact of the calculus. 😉

You take amazing pics! That fireworks one is so cool! How fun!

Good job on the caffeine! I need to wean myself back down, but that’s probably not going to happen until the heat wave breaks. For us (TN), that probably means October. 🙂

You live in such a great place. Love the music in the park and the fireworks and the COOL TEMPS!!! OMG, 50s?? So jealous. I think people would call in sick to work if we had a cool front like that right now. 🙂

Pixie steals the show again with her adorable face!

So if jazz was at night, what was going on in the circle when I got out of work? People had balloons and there were TV crews everywhere! I wish I knew about the jazz though, I think we would’ve enjoyed that instead of the not so great movie we watched for date night! :S

    Good job with the caffeine!

That thing in the circle was for the people in Salem whose house had the gas explosion. 2 of the people graduated from HFHS last year.

LOL at Pixie being the Queen of Calculus! Or is that “Professor Pixie”? 🙂
The music in the park looks great (And I bet it SOUNDED even better than it looked! Sorry..couldn’t resist my own silly joke!). SOOO impressed at your firework photo!!! Have a great day Lori!!

Excellent fireworks picture!!! Biking while sweating profusely is not fun – don’t blame you for putting that on the back burner during your heat wave.
