Bagel Wednesday and snacking day

Welcome Lee to upstate NY.  Not.  We sure don’t need this rain.

If only there was some way to get this rain to Texas. That meant no biking to bagels this morning.

Instead, I did go old school with a Leslie Sansone DVD for a 2 mile workout.  Haven’t done one of those in many months!

It was a cool morning at 56 degrees to sit in the cafe drinking some warm coffee and having a whole wheat bagel.

Such a dreary, dreary day.  I was fairly snacky today.  Guess it is the wheat after all.  That bums me out.  I’m not giving it up, though!

Quick lunch today.  Hands in the air for leftovers!

The pork and rice from yesterday.  Good stuff.  Notice I did not even cut up my pear.  I was just feeling a little weather blah, so I didn’t bother.

Pixie was stuck to me like a burr today  because of the weather.  I would like to think it is because she loves me, but body heat rules.

Would you like to see snippets of my snacks today? This is what mindless/stress noshing looks like.  Note that more than 1 of each item was had (except the latte).

Late July cookies:

Dried pineapple:

John’s homemade granola bars with a latte

I probably ate an extra 800 calories in snacks today.  Stellar eating day, right?  Oh well.  I was not even hungry enough to eat dinner.

I did have some strawberries:

I will likely have some cereal later if I do get hungry at all.  I think this really does tell me how wheat or gluten affects me.

Tomorrow is a fresh new day, though, right? 😀  And it is the official start to football season!

Definitely, Texas needs all this rain more than we do. I know exactly how you felt on this blah day. I was out and about so didn’t fall prey to the siren song of whatever is in the house that isn’t OP. I’m trying to gird my powers for tomorrow, though. Here all day. Hmm, Leslie Sansone, I haven’t done one of those for several months. Maybe I’ll dig mine out and move a little tomorrow while the children are napping.

Your butterfly bush looks beautiful. Sorry about the yucky weather, but at least you don’t have to water your flowers.

Wow, that rain and cool temps look amazing to me. Just came in (at 6:30pm from watering the poor plants that were looking a little sad from the 98 degree temps we had today. Its still that hot out there, and to add insult to injury, the mosquitos were keeping me company. You could send just one day of rain to me!

It makes me feel better to know that you have those snacky days once in a while too. But I feel just like you said too–tomorrow is a fresh new day. No need to carry that stuff over to the next day!

I also did a Leslie Sansone this week…funny. I’m always grateful I didn’t throw them away when I started going to the gym.

Dreary days make me want to do nothing but sip coffee and munch and read. I hope you see sunshine soon!

I hope the rain doesn’t linger. I can tie rainy days to my own version of snackiness, which is one of the reasons I opted for the return to the gym. I’ve found I’m not as snacky if I’ve had a solid workout. Or maybe I’ve just convinced myself of that. 🙂

And you’re right: tomorrow is a brand new day!

Oh my mom and I were just talking about those Leslie Sansone DVD’s. We both have them and although I like the work out I hate her commentary-I would like to be able to shut off the talking and just have the music playing! Is that bad?

A carby breakfast like that sets me up for a snack attack later in the day. I am super sensitive to carbs.

She has one of them, I think the newer 4 mile workout where there is an option of just music with no talking. I love that! Leslie gets on my nerves.

We would gladly take your rain. Lately it never seem right, the weather, for whatever part of the country.

Pixie DOES love you! Such a cuddle kitty. 🙂

I know you’re a little disgusted by your snacky day, but honestly, you don’t seem to have them very often, so meh. It’s a day, one out of 365.

I lost most of my weight with Leslie. I added her weight belt and hand weights so the workout is much more intense since my fitness level has increased a lot since starting out. She can be a bit annoying to listen to, but I’ve used them so much I just do her dialogue along with her!

Maybe the snackiness is more a result of the weather. When it’s gloomy out and you’re kind of stuck in doors, it’s a bit depressing and I think we crave the sugar to get our spirits up. Also, since it’s getting cooler, our body is starting to require more calories to stay at our normal body temp. That’s why we eat heavier foods like stews and such in the winter and salads in the summer. Our appetite swings with the changes. Maybe?

I’ve heard a lot about Leslie Sansone DVDs but I don’t have any yet. I *try* to get all my outdoor exercising in during the few decent months and then from Nov-Apr when we’re stuck inside I break out the DVDs. I did buy TurboJam though, which I am excited to try.

We all have snacky days. What I hate even more is when you buy a snack you KNOW you shouldn’t, and it doesn’t even taste that good, but you keep eating them… Like coconut cream hershey kisses… Not that I’d ever do that! I’m just saying hypothetically…

Still a pretty pic of your house outside it even with the rain & many of us would love some cooler temps! BUT I don’t like the rain & neither does my hair! 😉

I do love the Pixie & bagel pics!!!!

How do you feel not going to the gym right now? You know me, I could not survive without it but just curious if you miss the weights there?

    1. Lori Post author

I do miss some of the weights at the gym. I do have a bowflex at home and some free weights for strength training, but I am about ready to go back.

In general I don’t think people realize how much a little of this or a little of that can add up. You were good not to eat dinner because I think most would eat it anyway – it’s dinner after all!

Been pouring rain here for 3 days and just now it suddenly stopped, the sky went partially blue and the sun is peeking out a bit. I hope that sticks because I honestly woke up feeling glum.

Waving my hand at leftovers, since my husband won’t eat any! Sorry about the rain – I too wish you could send it to Texas – my brother and step-son have been baking in Austin this year!

  13. Sara

Thanks for your good thoughts about sending the rain to Texas, Lori! The big fire outside of Austin is still only 30% contained, and there’s still no rain in the long range forecast. It’s gotta rain sometime, right? 🙁

We are having a lot of rain this week too. It looks that the coming weekend will be dry for a change.

What’s Leslie Sansone DVD for a 2 mile workout. I have no idea what to imagine by a 2 mile workout on DVD. The only thing I can think about is that you walk/jog around your living room for 2 miles 🙂

    1. Lori Post author

Leslie Sansone had a series called Walk Away the Pounds. It is like low-impact aerobics with marching in place, knee lifts, kickbacks and things like that. She has a mileage counter that tells you how far you have gone.
