Back on the bike!

Happy Weekend!  It’s over now, but what a nice weekend it was

It was nice enough for a ride today, too!  When we can sneak in an outdoor ride at this time of year, it always feels like such a treat.  Temp was close to 50, so we bundled up and headed out.

Technical turtleneck, small jacket, fleece jacket on top.

Dork alert!  I borrowed a pair of John’s tube socks to pull up to keep my calves warm because my bike knickers are 3/4 length.

What this doesn’t show is how the heels of the socks come up over the top of my shoes. Why yes, I am a fashion plate.

It was sunny out and a tail wind to start.  We decided to take the path today.  Of course, a lot of the path was covered with leaves, which can be a bit of a hazard because you can’t see what is under the leaves.  We had to stop after John got a branch caught in his wheel.

Obviously this is not the really leafy section.

This is along the canal. This part of the path is all cinder and kind of slows down the ride.

We stopped at mile 8 to drop a layer of jacket.

Most leaves have now fallen except for a few stubborn trees.  We had decided on a trip to downtown Glens Falls to go to the Chocolate Mill.  We arrived downtown at mile 11.  Some of those stubborn trees in the middle of a traffic circle:

On to the Mill!

Check out the pastry case:

I chose a french macaroon:

It was not very big, but quite tasty when paired with a latte!

This was perfect for a chilly fall day.

We then headed on home.  I was feeling great!  It was not a hilly ride, thank goodness, because my hill legs are not quite there now.  It just felt so, so good to be riding.  We looped around so that we could get an even 20 miles today!

I had a big smile on my face most of the ride:

Ride stats:

Distance: 20 miles

Average speed: 12.8 mph

Ride time: 1 hour, 34 minutes

Calories burned: 606

A fabulous ride!  Looks like we might even be able to bike to breakfast on Wednesday if the overnight temps stay above freezing.  Yay!

I hope all of you had as wonderful a weekend as we did!

Yahoo to being able to get out and cycle!

I never thought of the hidden dangers in piles of leaves…who knows what is in there?

    The latte is so pretty!

So glad you got to ride! I am getting sad as the colder weather is coming and I know it is going to interfere with outdoor riding.
Your chocolate dessert looks FABULOUS!!!! MMmmMMmm

Your brown shoes/tube socks/knickers kind of had a lederhosen vibe going on…strange but stylish! The ride sound great and your latte – so pretty! Glad you guys had such a good weekend. 🙂

Oh how nice. I gotta say, 50 degrees sounds pretty darn cold to me! But with chocolate waiting at the end, just maybe I could make it!

I drool over the French macaroon. All this reading about biking makes me think I could take my bike out when the weather still permits..

How great it was that you were able to have such a great bike ride in November!
Weather here is gorgeous too, too warm for the time of the year but I’m enjoying it.

    The macaroon looks delicious.

Why do I hear yodelling when I look at the picture of your socks??? LOL

Holy cow – that chocolate mill looks TERRIBLE. If it were near me I bet I’d be driving there every couple weeks. The treats all look so interesting and pretty – mini works of art! Not good for my waistline!

Glad you had another nice day for some end of the season biking. Weather was good here too. Love it!

Funny that Debby thinks 50 is cold! That’s practically a heatwave around here, although I did hear this morning that we are going towards the 60s! That probably means it will snow Thanksgiving week.

I thought of you over the weekend because I finally found those Ghirardelli Dark Chocolates with the Sea Salt. Just in time to NOT buy them because of my new challenge. But I will go back to buy them!!

Thanks for offer to help me with the Paleo stuff. I’m sure before all this is over I’ll have a question or two 😉

I know – I was excited to see an overnight low in the 40s because that means I can bike in the morning! Below 40 is my too-cold cut off.

What a great weekend Lori! Hey, that french macaroon certainly makes it a nice one!!!! YUMMY!!!

You know, it was 47 when I went out to run Sunday morn – we are getting cold nights here now & some have been colder than that too! Poor Carla got our winter weather when she came for the LA blog show – no warm & sunny southern CA for the blog show! 😉 It rained some Friday & Sunday.

BTW, as long as you were warm – who cares what ya look like! 🙂
