Shoes and a nibbling weekend.

A little of this and a little of that this fall weekend. The bittersweet in the neighbor’s bushes are now colored up and shows up now that leaves have dropped:

My foot is feeling better and better every day.  I think it will feel pretty much normal by Monday or Tuesday. My wrist will take longer, but not unexpected there as I have been bothered for a while with that.

What to do on a Saturday when you aren’t doing a long ride?  Go shopping, of course!  We hit the outlet malls.  I only wanted to get 1 thing, which was an 7.5 x 4 loaf pan.  Anything else was bonus, and what a bonus I found!

Shoes!

I got a new pair of the most comfie shoes.  These are for walking.  No laces and on sale at Easy Spirit for $29.

Then super sale on these shoes, which I loved!

This pair was $19!  Leather shoes.  I was a happy camper.  Note to self – trying on shoes with a sprained foot is not really the best idea.

I also saw a sign for this:

They didn’t look like any waffles I would be having for breakfast.  I wonder how I would make my waffles designer or fashionable…

The weekend also involved too much food!  One of those weekends.

I really need to get that snacking back under control. Candy corn has been on sale and I bought too much!  😯  This really is not the time of year to be letting this slide.  There’s too much to be sliding in!

We went on a bike ride on Sunday.  My foot wasn’t bothered at all by biking, so yay on that! Too bad I can’t just switch back to all biking (thanks to the weather), but of course, that is what is bothering my wrist.

It was a windy ride. Check out the flags:

We stopped here for our ride:

Hmmm…. 12 miles of biking does not really deserve a donut.  That was kind of the weekend in a nutshell.  Refer back to Nibbler up above.  Maintenance is not all sunshine and lollipops.  Sometimes it pisses me off, which is what it is doing right now.

I did manage to make a roasted red pepper and tomato soup base for this week, to be customized like this with some cooked brown rice and lentils.

I will hopefully get this posted this week.

I have another really busy week coming up.  Two more tutoring sessions on Tuesday and Thursday, and that will be done – thank you!  Wonder how long before I get my first learner.

I have my fingers crossed to win football picks this week.  It is a nail biter.  We are down to 1 game.

Question: What was a highlight of your weekend?

Looks like a lovely weekend. Great score on the shoes!

Happy to see your foot is feeling better…hopefully your wrist will be 100% soon too.

Highlight of the weekend…being invited out tomorrow night to start making a drum!

Love those leather clogs – and quite a bargain!!!

Glad you got that bike ride in. November and bike riding, how nice for you!

Candy corn is just.so.tempting. A major downfall for me last month. 🙁

LOL at the nibbler cartoon! I had a boring, but nice weekend. Where the nibbler was under control!

I LOVE that picture of the bittersweet. I guess that is an East Coast plant?

And I am so jealous of your shoe finds. I really really want a pair of clogs, and I just love the heel height on those, although I am not wearing heels like that now d/t my back and knees. Waaah.

Your soup looks good. Love tomato rice soup. Adding lentils sounds really good too!

Ugh – just read your post about the wrist and foot injuries. I’m still dealing with my nasal issues and ALL the lovely and wonderful side effects (boo hoo to weight gain!!) that are coming along with it. Hopefully you are on the mend! Good thing bike season is winding down, it would be harder to take a rest if it was 70s and perfect out. LOVE the shoe deals!!

I don’t know if this is shallow or just plain sad, but the highlight of my weekend was that Missouri finally beat Texas in football!

You should have warned us to put on our sunglasses when viewing the picure of your new sneakers! I LOVE when they are white and pristeen… I don’t ever want to leave the house in them!

LOL – we went grocery shopping and said to John that I felt like everyone was staring at my shoes! It didn’t help that I was wearing black pants.

The joke about designer waffles is funny, knowing how often you eat waffles. I’d rather have your waffles than the shirt. 😀

Boy, do I love getting shoes on sale like you did. My daughter just brought me home a pair of Fila walking shoes that she got for me for $9.

I hope your foot feels better soon.

I enjoy reading your blog; your long bike rides amaze me! The highlight of my weekend was my husband coming home–he has been gone for 4 days, and I’ve missed him terribly!

Great deal on the shoes Lori, getting new stuff cheap always makes me happy.

That soup looks delicious, reminds me that I need to make some soup again soon.

Glad to hear your foot is feeling better.

Hi Lori! Well, I’m answering back to your comment on my blog.

I personally *hate* yoga classes. So I definitely understand if you hate yoga class. But have you tried doing your own yoga *on your terms* with what you learned in yoga class? That is how I do yoga. I do it entirely by myself. I do the poses in the order I think works for me best. I take a break when I want to. I hold the poses the length of time that I want to–mostly not as long as they would in yoga class. I do a wider variety of poses, often not the ones done in yoga class. I obsess over certain poses, and generally ignore other poses that seem too stressful on my joints–like sitting in lotus–I never do that.

I haven’t taken a yoga class since June. I’ve only taken 3 months of yoga classes in the past 3 years. I just remember the tips from class and read yoga books, and watch youtube.com videos on yoga and do my own thing. You’d probably like it better like that.

I like what your soup looks like and wait for a recipe! I bought 1kg (2 lbs) red lentils and need to new recipes.

You could always send the extra candy corn to me. 🙂 I’m convinced they are something extra special – got that impression from your blog comments…

Glad your foot is already feeling better.

  12. Biz

Sorry about your foot and wrist – hopefully you can rest them both this week, although I know its hard not to get out there when its nice out! I got a lot of cooking in this weekend to set me up for the week – even a new pork and pumpkin chili! 😀

Maintenance is definitely not easy Lori – HARD work for sure!

So happy your foot is getting better! YAHOO & a bike ride too! What a score on those shoes! I wish I had feet that fit into shoes! 😉 Now for your wrist! Will you be using that indoor bike trainer you wrote about last year?

Ummmmmmmmmmmm, that donut looks GOOD! 🙂

    1. Lori Post author

Yep – the bikes will be coming in on the trainers pretty soon. Too soon. I just don’t want to hook it up until I am absolutely sure no more outdoor riding.

Catching up on your weekend blogs…

I think they need to rename the walk-in medical center to something other than Urgent Care. It didn’t seem they were very urgent with you at all. Still I’m glad they figured out what was going on and that you are already feeling better.

L-O-V-E the leather slip-ons. They look comfy and fashionable!

The highlight of my weekend was food related. Hahahaha! Seriously, I ate out 2 times and managed to stay Paleo. Very proud of myself for that.

Also, we only picked 2 games different this week and we each got one right so we had a tie!

  15. Amy

Sounds like a good shopping trip but boo on the nibbling – I get that a lot too!
Highlight of our weekend was our youngest’s holy confirmation. Now all the kids have been confirmed, the next big event will be weddings (high school graduations aren’t a big deal here). So that could take a while!

  16. Roz

HI Lori, just catching up on your last few days. Ack…so sorry to read about the foot and wrist. REALLY like the slip on walking shoes!!!! Take care of yourself, rest easy and let John and Pixie cater to your every whim!!! 🙂

  17. Jill

Glad you are able to ride with your foot and wrist issues!! The highlight of my weekend was going to the Clemson Football game and WINNING. We are going to the ACC championahip game!!!! The downside…. tail gate food~ YIKES!
