November wrap up

Last day of November!  Wow.  Thanks for all of your comments yesterday on the ‘mirror’ post.  I am so much harder on myself than I would ever be on anyone else.  It is such a fine line to walk between pushing yourself hard enough to see progress and starting to expect perfection.

We had one of those rare nights in the Adirondacks where the overnight low was not really cold.  We checked the Weather Channel and the temp was 48 degrees.  You know what that means!!  Biking to breakfast!  Only it wasn’t really 48 degrees.  I thought it was a little colder than that as my eyes were watering a little.  The temp when we arrived at breakfast –

Hmmmmm…. not sure what the discrepancy issue is there.  I want to work in weather where you can be wrong a lot and still keep your job –  and get raises!

North Country Cafe:

My bagel – a little over toasted.

See the bikes in the background.  They finally finished the work on the street.

12 miles for the day.  Okay, now this was probably the last outdoor ride of the year.  I keep saying that and the temps pop up a little.  Very rare this time of year and I am glad I haven’t put the bike on the trainer yet.

I was a little cold here.  It was  a stiff wind on the way home!

So, here were my November goals and the progress I made on them:

1. Go grain-free 4 days a week. I did pretty well with this except for  Thanksgiving week where I ate grains on Thursday when that was a day I normally did not.  A-

2. No eggnog lattes until Thanksgiving Day.  Done!  I have only had 1 and it was on Thanksgiving Day. A+

3. Walk 3 miles a day 5 times a week. I did really well with this goal.  Other than when I sprained my foot and this weekend with 2 days of biking, I walked a lot. A

4.  At least 2 different vegetables a day. I did okay with this.  Veggies are still a struggle for me other than broccoli.  I would say a B- for this goal.

5.  Spruce up the website.  This is really hard.  I was working on the recipe section, but time really is a problem as I need to spend hours  on it.  C-

Quite a good month goal wise.

Pixie met all of her goals this month:  bird watching, sleeping,  rolling in cat nip, and lots of lap time.

I am feeling swamped and busy right now.  I feel like my schedule is really out of whack.  I hope to have some goals for December lined up for tomorrow.

Have a great night!

Looks like you had a pretty good GPA for November! I go through spurts of veggie eating – I like them, but can’t be bothered lots of time to cook them.

Swamped. I’m with you on that.

Our weather on the weather channel is usually warmer than what it is at our house – I think they take it at the airport, which is about 15 minutes away. I can imagine that your bike ride was a little chilly – 43 degrees goes right through you on a bike!

I like you giving yourself grades. I am impressed with the 3 miles 5 days a week. That is not only an exercise commitment, but also a time commitment. Wow, i wish I could help you out with my veggie-love. You’ve tried fresh, right? not just frozen? (I don’t like frozen vegetables at all.)

Man, if I got anything that burned at a restaurant, it would go back. I don’t usually send food back, but burned toast was my nemesis as a kid. i couldn’t even stand the top bread crust because it always tasted burned to me.

Back to 2 days ago (I’m playing for a musical so I’m a bit behind)… I can soooo relate to being tougher on myself than on anyone else. The weird thing is I wasn’t as critical of my body at 190 as I am at 140. Maybe at that point I kind of had a “why bother” attitude. Anyway, thanks for always keepin’ it real. I think you look awesome and are a constant inspiration of how normal people struggle, but succeed! P.S. Please let Pixie know I think she is also pretty awesome.

I love veggies!!!! I couldnt imagine how i could maintain my WL without them! Its not a bother to cook them, i enjoy finding new ways to cook them, different soups, various soup recipes… Etc. I Haven’t tried 100%grain free yet as I am such an oatmeal lover. Busy…… All i can say is OMG!!
I loved the magazine article 🙂

I do so much better with veggies than fruit and I’m not sure why that is either.

I think you had an excellent month of meeting your goals, which are always really aggressive. Soon things will be calmer and you can get around to the blog. In the meantime, it’s working just fine 😉

I think I need Pixie’s goals as my December goals. Ha! What a life.

We’re supposed to get an inch of the white stuff today. I suppose since it’s December we are bound to get it sooner or later. Still can’t believe it really IS December though. Lots to get done in the next 24 days!!

I LOVE Pixie’s goals! I could live that way! 🙂

BRRRRRRRRRRR but it has been in the 40’s here in the early morn & when I run on the weekend too! As for the temp, our weather channel has the temp for one of the area codes in our larger area so it is not always the temp in my exact area…. not sure if yours works that way too. We are big enough here to have multiple zip coed for where I live & different temps too.

I like well done toast but that bagel is a bit more – would they have redone for you?

Hope your schedule lightens up – this time of year is crazy enough as is!

I want to be a weatherman too! Yesterday they said we would be getting 1cm of snow. I headed out in the car for a 40 minute highway drive. 1 cm of snow turned into a winter storm with cars in the ditches everywhere. Hello!!!! You couldn’t see that one coming??? Geesh!

Pixie looks pretty darn pleased with herself in that picture. “It’s good to meet my goals – bow to me”. Have a great day Lori!!!

You did great on your goals in November Lori. I’d say it was a success.

You keep saying it’s the last bike ride outside 🙂 but you never know if the weather might surprise you and you will be able to do more bike rides outside in December. They said it would be extremely cold here in Holland in November, didn’t happen at all, not complaining about it either. We’re very lucky with the weather at this moment, normal for Holland this time of year.

Great goals for December and meeting your goals for November. I should do more goal setting and I like that you do it monthly, more doable.
