No nibbling update.

Well, exciting football news today is that Peyton Manning is now with the Broncos!  Bye Tim Tebow.  I am actually pretty excited about this – when does football season start??  Not soon enough.

Another fabulous day with lots of sun.  I have more sprouts!  These are in those TP tube pots that I made.  See how they fit perfectly in my peat pot holder?

The Teddy Bear sunflowers.  I can’t wait until these get in the garden! There are either some laggards or dud seeds in there, but I will give them some more time.

My legs were a little tired today from all that biking, so it was a rest day for me.  I made up some breakfast:

Oats cooked with egg whites and topped with the apple cranberry topping.  I have been eating this a lot lately.  I think in the last month I have eaten more apples than I did all winter!  John is the big apple lover in the house.  I like apples, but there are other fruits I like better and choose first, but this topping is nummy.

I planned out all my meals/snacks last night, which I do like to do (less thinking on Mondays is always better).  I had my latest go-to snack:

So a full update on breaking my extra nibbling habit.  It has been about 3.5 weeks since my last snack binge.  I have been really pleased with myself on how I am doing.  I don’t know if a habit is ever really broken or you just don’t go back to it.  I have gotten off the snacking habit before and fallen back into it, so I don’t know if that is a behavior I will ever really change or just have to avoid forever (depressing to think about).  The mints have been a great tool for me to not nibble.  I also tell myself that if I *really* want to nibble on something, then I can have a protein drink with some fruit.  If I think that isn’t appealing, then I tell myself that I am not hungry and just want to nibble.  That does make me feel irritated sometimes, but I do have 3 snacks planned into my day and I just don’t need more than that.

The absolute hardest time for me is while cooking dinner.  Especially when John has his plate partially made and it has something like potato chips on it. I tend to grab bites off his plate and that is so automatic for me that I have to consciously stop my hand from reaching out.  I also try not to eat off of my own plate while I am cooking because even though that is planned food, that isn’t helping break the habit.

So, I will just keep muddling along.  I have to ignore the scale.  When you have a victory like several weeks of no extra nibbling, doesn’t it seem like you should be rewarded with a big march down the scale?  Yeah – I think it should, but it doesn’t.  I am just concentrating on being a fit female instead.

On to lunch!  This is a apple chicken sausage.  We haven’t had these in a while and I don’t know why.  They are tasty.

I have a lot of roasted sweet potato and parsnips from yesterday, so I will be noshing on those this week. Unless I get tired of them, which could happen, or if John eats them, which is unlikely  Although he did eat some last night.

Work was really busy today. That always makes it a good day.  I have been getting more productive as well.  I have been doing transcription for a little over 3 years and I feel like the last year or so I have really hit a good stride for production.  I definitely takes a few years to be really comfortable at this job and to be productive enough to make good pay.

I did stop for the snack, though.

I finished up all my work and went out for a walk before dinner.  Just a 2 mile walk to kind of stretch out my legs and do active recovery.  It was absolutely beautiful outside!  Lots of birdies singing and the grackles are back in town, so you really know it’s spring.

I liked that turkey burger that I had the other day with the laughing cow and salsa, so it made a reappearance for dinner.

I need to try this with chicken.

Tonight’s evening snack is blueberry sauce topped with ricotta cheese with some protein powder mixed in.  I think this could either be served warm or cold, but I think warm is good.  I made this up for later and will reheat it.

I ate extra carbs today to make sure I am replete from the biking.  Off to settle in with my snack!

Question:  Share a victory you have had lately, whatever it is!

It’s odd, but the one time I *don’t* want to snack is when I’m prepping dinner. Go figure. (It could be that my meals don’t exactly require a lot of effort. LOL)

Oh, and I meant to mention to you that while I’m not normally a fan of Weight Watchers products (haven’t really tried many, to be fair), they have a jalapeno cheese wedge that’s really, really good–especially on a burger. The ingredients don’t seem to be any better or worse than LC.

I consider my low carb way of eating to be a huge victory!

    Congratulations on controlling the nibbling!!!

I love the magic of your flowers…you are a creator!

My victory for the week is getting off bed rest and being able to walk (slowly) on the treadmill for 15 minutes. Whoohoo! You’re doing really well with your no unplanned snacks Lori. I think being a fit female is a very worthy goal (I add healthy to my goal! :))

The weird thing is that I never snack while making dinner. I hardly ever taste the dish I’m making either.

I love to go outside after dinner for a walk too especially in Spring. That’s why I’m glad I have a dog, even if I don’t really feel like it, I have to go.

My victory lately? That I’m pretty consistent doing my workout DVD’s at home. When I belonged to the gym I used to skip workouts easily. I still do but much less than I used to because I like my DVD’s.

I’ve wondered about habits too. You can break them for some time but then they have a way of sneaking back into your life.

I haven’t started being a fit female yet. Could you give me a virtual spank me so I get going already?

BTW: You looked really happy when you got biking outside again. 🙂

I don’t tend to snack while making dinner but I love to snack most other times. Doesn’t help that the girl at work who sits next to me has a candy dish filled with my favorites. Oh boy temptation!

Way to be conscious of your nibbling and work at it. Oh and your little seed sprouts are so cute. I wish I had had the time to get some seedlings going. Such a great idea.

I have two danger zones: right when I get home from work and after Muay Thai classes. Part of it is actual hunger but the rest of it is my brain wanting to unwind and relax. I keep telling myself I don’t need to relax with food or wine! I hope you do get a bit of adjustment on the scale, you deserve it!

Congrats on all that NO nibbling! It is hard & good for you Lori! Are your clothes looser. Me, I would want to jump on the scale! 😉 I use my clothes too!

Hey, I think everyone is getting better weather than “sunny southern CA”! What is with that!

Victory for me – hanging in there while my hormones fight me! 😉

I agree w/ the no nibbling – I have to make a rule and stick to it. And that’s what I do.
The plants look great! Ours are growing too thanks to DD17 doing the planting!

Okay…I’m extremely happy and feeling very healthy knowing I HAD THE SAME SNACK AS YOU!!! 😀 I had two cuties with a boiled egg for a snack today. The stars must be aligned… 🙂

A major victory for me is that I’m on track with my calories today, and I haven’t snacked outside of planned snacks/meals.

We have birdies here too, though I have no idea what kinds. I love hearing the chirping in the mornings!

I hate that I don’t have you on my BlogSpot feed! You’re on my favorites list, but I forget sometimes to check it! I think I’m caught up now! LOVE reading all of the info you provide and of course looking at all of your food! I NEED to do the frickin’ apple topping and 1-minute waffle!!!! Maybe tomorrow morning’s Big Breakfast Sunday!!
