Scooterin’

Lifting day!  It was another cold night.  There was a touch of frost on the car this morning.  Brrrr.  It got very nice out later, though.  I got my big protein drink ready to go to the gym.

Quiet at the gym today, which is nice.  Thursdays are usually pretty busy.  I worked hard to increase my weights on a few of the exercises. You really do have to challenge yourself every time you go to the gym, otherwise you stagnate.  Today, I increased on the single bent-leg deadlift, decreased the chin up assistance, and increased the offset squat.  I left it all on the gym floor (along with sweat. Ewww… ).  I was wiped out!

When I got home, I made up a banana bread pudding and topped with with my blueberry sauce.  I did nibble on some granola that John had out because I was hungry (even after drinking my protein shake).

Bigger banana = bigger breakfast.  Yum!  Why have I not tried this combo before?

Brain fried today.  So, so busy for work.  Plus it’s getting later in the week.  I may work at home, but I do work really hard.

Lunchtime came really fast because of being busy.  I used up the last of the goose eggs and made a cheese omelet for lunch.  This is 1 egg!

Honk, honk!

I also got confirmation in the mail for my registration for Becoming an Outdoors Woman at the end of June.  I did this last year (recaps) and had a lot of fun.  It is being held in the same place.  I also got my first choices on my classes!  I will do Kayaking on Friday; Birding Basics and Adirondack Ecology on Saturday, and Plant Identification on Sunday.  It’s hard to choose classes, too.  I also thought about archery and basic map and compass.  Maybe next year.  I have never been kayaking before.

John was my savior in the afternoon with my latte. I paired this one with some dried pineapple.

John also fired up the grill for dinner with some pork ribs, which I forgot to get a picture of! Guess I was hungry.

Warmer weather and we wanted to go out for coffee tonight.  How to save gas? First scooter ride of the year!

Okay, let’s try that photo again:

On arrival:

This weekend, I might change the theme for my blog. Maybe there is something corrupt in that causing the comment issue.  The stupid comment issue.  The stupid, time sucking comment issue! Can you tell it is irritating the crap out of me? I don’t know whether to be angry at wordpress or google.  Or both. How about that? Yes, I will be angry and annoyed with both. Okay, I feel better now  😀

Question: Have you ever been kayaking?

Yes!! I have been Ocean kayaking …..on a lake but in an ocean kayak. I love it……..but i have trouble finding people who want to go with me so its usually a solo gig for me. But i just love being out on the water….I know your gonna love it!

I remember when you did the outdoors weekend last year! Kayaking is on my to-do list (I had to do the sea-doo first), and I’m looking forward to reading about your adventures.

Love the BOW classes. I’d never heard of it, but Google informs me that we have it in VA too! I would take exactly the same courses you signed up for with archery up there in the running. Cute picture in the mirror!

I remember your outdoor weekend from last year. Going to be so much fun for you.

    R. and I went kayaking two years ago on vacation. It was fun but boy was I sore in my arms two days afterwards 🙂

I’ve never kayaked but I once had a chance to try indian canoe. Loved it. I wonder if they make you go upside down?

You look like a sassy Italian couple on that scooter! 🙂

I don’t know if we have to go upside down or not. I know we are taught safety and all that before going out.

LOL at Italian – since I am pasty white, blue eyed and light hair LOL!

Yes, but mostly I’m not a fan. I think maybe in part because I have such tight hamstrings that I don’t find sitting flat in a kayak to be very comfortable. My husband actually bought one for his 40th birthday which is rather odd considering we live landlocked in the middle of the country!

I love the scooter pics – adorable!!

Around here we don’t have scooters that fit two peoeple. I’m jealous. Since I live just a couple miles from work I always thought maybe that would be a good way to save gas (then again, I could always just bike).

How big is the container for your protein drink?

    1. Lori Post author

It’s 16 or possibly 20 ounces. I forget exactly. After blending, the shake poofs up to the top, so I do end up burping LOL!

One of the things we do on our vacation is sea kayak. The place we stay has a protected bay so even though it’s the Caribbean Ocean it’s not too rough. They allow guests to take the kayaks out at no charge. We usually choose a double one and go together. So much fun!

I love kayaking! It is fun and a great upper body workout! With all the weightlifting you have been doing you are going to do amazing with it!!!!

    Hi Lori~

I know you have a protein powder FAQ, but what type do you (1) like the best) and (2) keeps you feeling full, the longest…

    Thanks! 🙂

P.S. I’m almost done with the 1st month of NS and I don’t think I’m going to continue – it’s pretty expensive and I find myself more stressed-out about having to think my meals AND making food for my hubby & kid… I’ve lost almost 4 pounds, but think Weight Watchers would be better for my lifestyle…

LOVE the pics – you two are so cute!!!!! OK, I have to say I would not do that Outdoors Women thing you do BUT I love reading about it & seeing the pics!

Hope your blog stuff works for you! With GoDaddy & my issues, I get it & it is a pain in the arse! 😉

I had a scooter and loved it. Until I stored it for the winter in my then boyfriends garage for the winter – we broke up, I went to pick it up and he told me he sold it. 🙁 Good ridance of him!

    Enjoy your weekend!!

That is too funny! Love the photo in the mirror.

I have never been kayaking or canoeing but it’s on my list for this summer. My boyfriend and I had plans a few years ago to go camping with friends via kayaks and they canceled. 🙁 I was bummed.

The scooter pictures are so cute! The Outdoors Women’s Program sounds fun, I’ve never been kayaking either! Good luck with the blog changes … it can be very irritating sometimes!
