May Goals

Welcome to May!  We had a rainy start to the month.  Guess April showers will continue as May showers.

I had a funny comment at the gym today.  (Those of you on FB probably heard this one already). I was doing my usual routine and was re-racking my 30# DBs.  There was a woman there who was working with a personal trainer and I am pretty sure it was her first visit.  Anyway, she was standing by the dumbbell rack and when I put them back she says, “Well look at you, Fancy Pants”.  I wasn’t quite sure what she meant by that, so I kind of just laughed and went about my business.  I heard the trainer say to her, “We’ll get you there”.

I certainly don’t show off at the gym or anything like that.  Yeah, I was using 30# DBs.  So what? I earned the use of them by consistent training.  I just do my thing and leave.  I am very focused.  John said she was probably trying to be friendly, but it was more awkward than anything else.  I swear, I get the oddest remarks at the gym.

I came back and made another breakfast ‘cookie‘.  I didn’t grind up the oats in this one and I am trying to decide which texture I like better.  Once I get it figured out, I will put up a recipe page for it.

This one is topped with a mashed nana.

It was a busy day today.  I ended up picking up my dad at the car shop when he dropped off my mother’s car and then taking him back later to go get it.  I am lucky with my job that I can do this for people.  I am the ‘go-to chauffeur’ around here.  However, that does mess with my work schedule  🙂

The breakfast cookie lasted me to lunch, so yay on that.  I definitely will be keeping that one in the rotation.  If I can figure out how to make it less dense and chewy.

Lunch was:

Egg salad! I remembered to boil up some eggs last night, so lunch was easy.

It’s time = the goals for May!

1. Continue with the Fit Female program.  I will be starting the 3rd stage in about 2 weeks.  I may have to alter the days with more biking, but we shall see.

2.  No scale weighing.  Now my scale doesn’t have numbers, but it does tell me if I have lost or gained.  It sat still during April, which was a bit discouraging because of how hard I worked.  So, I don’t want to hear anything from MaryLou this month.

3.  In keeping with the cleaning theme from last month, I am going to cull some books and donate the to the Friends of the Library book sale.

4.  Start work on the driveway project with crack patching.

5.  I will try at least 2 new veggies this month.  This can either be done by cooking at home or having them out at a restaurant.  Stepping out of comfort zone!

That should be good for this month.  Note I am not putting stretching in there again LOL!

I had just returned from the second trip with my dad and John had a latte waiting for me.

Yet another vote for John for husband of the year.  I also added a pineapple slice:

Showing my thighs some blog love today.  They worked hard this morning.

I had a simple dinner tonight.  Leftover cooked chicken on top of a baked potato with laughing cow.

I put a few shakes of A1 steak sauce on it, which actually was good.  This was a satisfying dinner.

I had to work for a while after dinner, then I took a 1 mile walk and John and I are now settled down for coffee:

Starbies and WiFi.  Coffee and the internet.  It’s kind of my life in a nutshell.

I can’t drink coffee at night or else I have issues sleeping. I should probably switch to decaf at night since I do love the taste.

Food looks so yummy and I think it’s an awesome compliment at the gym! You deserve it. Good luck with your May goals!

Love your post. People can be so random and clueless with their comments.

I am often upset by them, I think I am pretty sensitive though.

    Love your goals.

What kind of scale do you have? Have you found that type helpful in your journey???

Crack patching made me choke on my water! I’d love to hear more about it actually, our driveway could use a patch or 10. Feel proud at that woman’s comment, you are a badass, wear it proudly! I’m sure it has more to do with her insecurities more than anything.

I was totally only think of driveway cracks. I can only imagine the google hits that will come with this now.

Your bfast cookie recipe sounds a lot like the spackle that I love so much, and I eat it raw, like “cookie dough.” Except the spackle has nut butter and yours has protein powder. If its too thick, you could add more egg whites or some almond milk.

What exercises are you doing with 30 pound weights? (oh, maybe I should look at one of your exercise lists…)

The exercise was step-ups. I am probably going to have to move to a barbell with them because my grip strength can’t hold much more weight.

That woman was probably just nervous and intimidated and blundered through what she really wanted to say, which was “wow, you are so strong and I hope I can be like you some day!” – pretty sure that’s what she meant. 🙂

I’m interested in your breakfast cookie. Not just because it has the word “cookie” in the title. OK, a little because of that. Looking forward to the recipe soon!

Thats good going wit your goals. I’m so glad I found you and your blog because I learn something from it everyday. It has completely changed the way I approach weight loss and fitness. Thankyou!

I think she meant it as a compliment too and I agree with Shelley that she wants to be like you one day. I can totally understand that people see you at the gym and think: WOW!

Love your goals for the month.

Well, I’m still doing my step ups with 1 lb weights….Eh 🙂

I bet that gym person was just in awe of your workouts and can’t believe one day she can do what you can do. I love your remark about consistency in training..

Hi Lori! Gotta love those big dumbbells! ‘Cause you’re a girl monster! She looked like a wimp besides you! She was jealous! When I pull out the huge dumbbells, some of the guys just nod “yes! That’s how you do it!” and others are totally awed.

    🙂 Marion

Are we now all allowed to call you Fancy Pants? I definitely saw that as a compliment – plus I bet it was really encouraging for her to see another woman there lifting. I know one of my biggest turnoffs from free weights in the gym was that there were NO women using them and I didn’t want to be weaving around the guys looking for little 3 lb weights. 🙂

Great goals Lori – I see them happening! 🙂

That comment was weird! I think she was being nice in an odd sort of way AND YES you EARNED those DBs!!!! I have got some weird comments as well along the way… it is hard work! I am talking today at my place about how long it took me to feel like I deserved to be proud of what I have accomplished.. YOU DONE GREAT!

    Have a great day!

Lori – time for a Pixie pic!!! I really do read your blog for YOU but I love Pixie too! 😉

I would have added buffalo hot sauce on your dinner! I have to remember to make egg salad for my husband – he loves it and I don’t so it rarely gets made – I’ll have to make him some this weekend. I have a trip to Sam’s Club to do and they sell 2 packages of 18 eggs each (36 eggs!) for $3.99!

Thanks for pinning my crab rangoon wontons 😀

Hi Lori, just catching up on your last few posts. I KNOW you’ll kill the May goals. Weird comment…not sure what to think of that. Yay for John. I think we’re both lucky in the husband department, so they can both wear the sash! 🙂 Have a great Wednesday.
