What YOLO is.

Whew, I am glad Monday is over.  My cranky pants really do not fit me well and are not very flattering.  It was a long day.  Work frustrations and I ended up working until 9:30 last night, so my evening was shot.  The plus side is Bunn is sending us a replacement coffeemaker by FedEx.  This is the current solution to coffee:

I pour the boiling water over the grounds in the filter.  The coffee actually is fine this way, but annoying to have to keep topping off the water.  However, having coffee is good.  The Bunn is a good machine and makes good coffee with the right temperature for brewing (200 degrees F).  We are coffee snobs and admit it.

With breakfast:

Regarding YOLO:  For those that don’t know, it stands for You Only Live Once. So for instance, someone sees an outfit they like, but shouldn’t really buy it and then does saying “YOLO!!”   I didn’t know what it meant for a long time, and I kept seeing that and thinking of Rolos.  Then I finally found out what it meant.  Actor Jack Black actually said that “YOLO” was “Carpe Diem” for stupid people.  I am not a fan of Jack Black, but I think I love him just a little bit now for that.

I guess Pixie would have to say YOLNT (you only live nine times). Okay, that was lame…

Lunch of Champions today.

I had to run for an errand at noon, so lunch came with me.

I got back for lattes today.

Icy latte with dried pineapple.  The snack of 2012 for Lori.

We decided to go all gourmet for dinner today.  John cooked up some maple glazed salmon and I made up some spinach rice.

This rice is really good.  I will have to do a recipe post for it.  Simple and you get some veggies in there, plus it is a pretty color.

I had to work for a while after dinner since I was away earlier in the day.  One of the times when I don’t like that my pay is based on production.  With working late last night and today, I am beat.  John offered to buy me a kiddie cone, and he didn’t have to twist my arm very hard.  We took an extended walk and ended up at the ice cream window.

My kiddie cone of coffee ice cream.  This is such a great size.

They actually tried to give me a small (which is huge), even though I ordered a kiddie cone – but it was waaay too much ice cream.  I hated to have them redo it – but it was not what I wanted or ordered.

Nice to sit in the twilight and eat this, too.  Getting out and having that was helpful.  I guess food is comforting 😀

Haha “I guess food is comforting” I guess it is too…

Thanks for the YOLO explanation. I like Jack Black okay, and now I love him.

I might have to check out that BUNN coffee maker. Although yours going out after 6 months is not a good review. I think I want one that will make several cups into a carafe that keeps it warm and fresh. Is there such a thing? Right now I make one cup at a time, and I always end up making 2 cups every morning.

There are several coffeemakers out there that have thermal carafes, which is what you want. They keep the coffee hot for several hours. There are cheaper ones out there. I know Hamilton Beech does one and you can find those at Target or K-mart. Carafes are the only way to go. That way you don’t keep cooking the coffee on a burner.

I’m a coffee snob too, I never get coffee as good and tasteful as at home.

I had never heard of yolo but I think it’s lame too. I prefer Carpe Diem which in Dutch means: “pluk de dag” freely translated as “make every day counts”

I’ve been wearing cranky pants and they don’t look good on me, either. Glad yours are back in the closet! I think I shall adopt the Dutch version of YOLO, just to confuse people.

Oh Lori, Lori, Lori. They tried to GIVE you free ice cream and you turned it down? I’m so disappointed.

    🙂

Okay, I’m not. That kiddie cone is larger than the small cone I normally eat (and sometimes find overly filling). I probably would have just conned John into eating half. 🙂

This does remind me that it’s been a while since I had ice cream. I must fix that soon.

I think the girl couldn’t quite figure out why I wouldn’t take the cone. I would probably have eaten more ice cream if I had taken the cone, because I like to eat the cone part – and what to do with the rest of the ice cream?

I, too prefer the “make every day count.” That’s cool! Speaking of cool, these three days in western North Carolina have reminded me of those nice cool days in Lake George. The friends we’ve been with have wanted to hear every detail of our trip, so we’ve talked about it a lot. Wondered if your ears were burning????

Way to go for sticking to the portion you wanted! But where are the eyes?? The menu says the kid’s cone comes with eyes.
Thanks for explaining YOLO. I’ve been pretending that I knew exactly what it meant.
I enjoyed your blog yesterday, even if you were cranky. You made me laugh.

I’ve had that Jack Black carpe diem quote as the top of my Pinterest quotations for a while now…LOVE IT. Detest YOLO.

Super impressed that you made them give you the smaller size of the ice cream – now that is some control!!! No diet “whoopsies” for you!

Oh, and I am going to start a petition (not really, I’m too lazy) for you to do an uncaffeinated post once a week, because that one was amazeballs awesome!
