Feeling like fall

Monday!  We had another nice night temperature wise.  It was actually quite cool this morning when I got up and that got me in the mood for pumpkin oats!  I decided to take a rest from the bike today.  I am feeling a little pressure to get in those 400 miles, although I am pretty much on schedule, so I need to stop that.  Walking is good enough for today.

My delicious oats:

Made with pumpkin and  egg whites and then topped with some crystallized ginger, toasted pecans and 2 teaspoons of honey.  It’s not fall yet, but it kind of felt like it.

While I was eating breakfast, the city gave me a new piece of artwork too look at.  My work chair points towards this window.

They put up this sign for road work happening starting on 08/27.  Guess this sign is going to be there a while blinking between 2 messages.  I don’t know if I will go crazy from that or not.  😉  Guess I can always close the blinds.  I don’t want to move out of my comfy rocker for work…

And good thing we have light blocking curtains or it might be visible from the bedroom.  🙄

Mid morning munchies.

John and I started our no land meat week.  We actually began yesterday.   Since chickens don’t fly, they really count as land meat.  Aren’t you glad not to see poultry?  I am glad for the break.  However – eggs from poultry are fair game.  Omelet for lunch with lots of hot sauce.

I am still on a mango kick, as you can see.  It looks like cheese cubes.  I love cheese, but I can’t imagine eating that many cheese cubes.

I had a good productive work day today.  That was a nice change from the way it has been.  Yay!  That’s awesome for a Monday, too.  Don’t you love when Monday’s go smoothly?  I was ahead of schedule when it was latte time.

Just cool enough inside for a hot latte.

John was also productive today.  He wasn’t so busy, so I heard him doing all kinds of cleaning and he got dinner ready.  He made baked salmon.  This was equal parts of BBQ sauce and strawberry jam mixed together for a glaze.  Then baked in the oven.

This was really good!  The recipe called for raspberry jam, but we didn’t have any, so John used my homemade strawberry instead.  I am liking salmon more the more I eat it.  I still prefer seafood, though.  One thing with salmon is that it keeps me full for a long time, fatty fish that it is.

I have tutoring tonight and I am going to have to wear a jacket.  It is cloudy and cool tonight.  I’ll leave you with this shot of a Painted Lady at my butterfly bush.  Those of you on FB already saw it, but here it is again.

There have been a bunch of these in my garden the last few days.  Apparently some years there are none and some there are a lot.  This year there are a lot! I am glad they like coming to my garden.

I’m having salmon for dinner tonight too! It does not, however, feel like fall here! I was thinking about fall though!

The sign would drive me nuts after a couple of days 🙂

We are having cooler weather too since yesterday and I embraced it with a smile. But still no signs of fall here.

Ahem … seriously now, just be thankful they actually DO road construction nearby! Around here the roads have huge potholes and you could cause some major damage if you’re not always dodging and weaving. Plus it makes biking interesting.

I could eat that many cheese cubes. 🙂

Lori – we have way too many of those signs around here & then they just keep doing & redoing & we just don’t get it. Do it right the first time! 😉

LOVE the butterfly pic! I hardly ever see butterflies here & miss them from my east coast days!

I am waiting for this heat spell to go away – way too hot & humid here for me & the house gets unbearable! Even at night it is still in the 70’s – YIKES! 🙂

    Enjoy your nice weather!

Fall is definitely trying to creep in. I think we are going to be able to sleep without the bedroom A/C on all this week! The electric bill appreciates the relief.

I might be able to eat that many cheese cubes. Just saying.

I knew it was mango right off mostly because I’ve YET to find any this year that’s any good! Guess I’ll keep trying cause I sure do like it. Road Art – that’s a new one, but I like it. Look on the bright side – it’ll be an easy way to direct guests to your home.

I was just thinking of pumpkin oats! I made a pasta sauce that used pumpkin and had about 1/2 a can left. Naturally it was either oats or pancakes with a “pumpking finish”. 😉

It can’t be fall yet…it just can’t! 🙂 I could probably eat all those cheese cubes. Can’t say I’d feel great afterward….
LOVE the butterfly shot Lori! Have a wonderful Tuesday.

I would get annoyed every time I saw that sign, but I’m just that kind of person! I am loving the feel of fall here even though we are still in the 80’s. There is a different feeling in the air, which I love.

Hi There!! Funny you should mention fall…it was 73 here at 11:00 am the other morning and after walking into a craft store decorated to the hilt with fall decor I also felt like fall was on the way. Seeing it’s still August that was an odd feeling… 😛

Hope the sign doesn’t drive you nuts. 🙂

I wish we had 73* here in central Florida. It is so hot and humid here. We are more concerned with T.S. Isaac they predict it will become a hurricane. Lori, your flowers are gorgeous and the salmon looks delicous.
