September Goals

It’s Tuesday, right? Now I am all messed up. Had a good weekend and I sure accomplished a lot! Got the porch all finished. Yay! I’ll have to post some before and after pics of the porch. I wish I could sit out there all the time now.

Time to get back to more consistent lifting. I didn’t do as much in August because I was trying to get those miles in and didn’t do my usual lifting days.
Today was different.

Exercise Set/rep/weight
Complex – Overhead squat/high pull/Push press/good morning 3 sets of 8 each exercise (all done one after the other) with wood bar
High Cable Row 3 sets of 10 at 60#
Deadlift 3 sets of 10 with 45# bar
Russian Twist 3 sets of 10 with 10# DB
Reverse crunch 3 sets of 10
Alternating Dumbbell Chest Press 3 sets of 8 each side with 20# DBs
Stiff-legged Deadlift 3 sets of 10 with 40# bar
Arnold Press 3 sets of 10 with 10# DBs

The gym was very quiet. College students all gone away now, plus I think it is the time when people start slacking on going to the gym. I also got on the treadmill and did some walk/jog intervals to change things up.

So, on to the goals for September.

1. Lose 4 pounds. This is a huge amount for me to try to lose in a month.  I will be taking my calories to 1500 (and trying to stay there) except on long ride days.  I also will try to do this without being a whiny baby about it, which is usually why I don’t stick with it.

2. Do jog/walk intervals.  I need to do better with cross training and I was on the bike so much in August that my body needs something different. I am going to bring in jogging intervals (yeah, I know – why?).  Not really C25K, but finding my own way.

3.  Get started on the laminate floors in for the downstairs!  The porch is done, so on to the next thing. I actually can’t wait for this project.  I hate, hate the rugs so much.  I’ll show you why when we get the stuff to start the floors.

4. Read 3 books in September.  And they have to be fiction for relaxing.  I read a *lot* of nonfiction.  I started one this weekend and am almost finished, so I hope to get in 2 more.  Depending on the length, I guess.

That’s enough.  The floors are going to occupy a lot of our time for the next couple months.

As always, love your goals. You are so ambitious on the house fix-ups. Wish I would be that industrious.

My lifting kind of took a dive when I had a few busy weeks with the job, and then I upped my swimming time. I am enjoying the swimming so much that I decided its okay for a little while. I” pick it back up soon.

Huge goal–4 pounds in a month. I’m cheering for you!

Congrats on getting the rest of that porch done – it looked like a lot of work with the scraping, etc. Bet it looks pretty now!

I’m curious about your jog/walk goal – you don’t seem to like running…I wonder if this will change your mind, or else cement the dislike?

Love your goals for the month, especially the books. Don’t forget to mention the ones you’ve read. I’m always looking for new books. At the moment I’m still hooked on Game of Thrones, already got 2 men at work hooked on it too 🙂 The first season started on TV last Sunday here and again: hooked at that too 🙂

I just read Gone Girl. That was a fascinating book. Very good.

Why not whine? I say you’re entitled especially in the first few days when cutting back calories SUCKS! After that maybe not so much 😉

I hated the bit of 50 shades that I read LOL!

I actually still have the podcasts from when I did the C25K, which I might end up using. I also used to use Jog Tunes Indie Podcast to find stuff – which is a great site.

Lori – you & those home projects! I wish hubby & I were home bodies but not to be & neither of us get that stuff! 😉

So, why the 4 pounds in 1 month? Do you think it will focus you more?

Hope the treadmill stuff does not bother your leg. Changing up is good! 🙂

I say YAHOO for fun reads!

I am inspired by your goal setting. I need to do the same for myself.

Sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you on the house. I love doing home improvement projects! Hubby and I got a few of them done over the long weekend and it felt great.

I just read Sharon’s blog post about reading books and it makes me want to start reading again. Of course that means I will need to cut back on computer time – but in the name of a good book that’s a good thing. I wonder if we need an on line book group of some sort?

Have you checked out Good Reads? I just got on there and have found it helpful to start sorting through what to read.

Ha – I had to laugh that you aren’t going to be a whiny baby about it! I think 1500 is where I should be too – the damn Cheetos keep calling my name at night – I need to just throw them out. 😀
