Catching up

Thanks for the comments on our floors!  Now to put home improvement stuff on the back burner for a bit and just enjoy, although I find myself thinking about the next big project already…

Checked the weather when we got up this morning and got the okay to bike to breakfast!  Cloudy and cold, but no rain.  44 degrees.  I had 3 layers on, plus my gloves under gloves:

Brrr…  I was glad to get there and have some hot coffee!

At least it didn’t rain on us this week!  I feel like a lot has been going on around here.

– My running has been progressing.  Sort of.  I have been hanging out at 25 minutes runs for the last week and a half.  I am trying to make myself not hurry or try to run fast or do any kind of speed work.  Gone are my old running routines.  I am going to do that duathlon next spring, darnit.

– I currently have Thursday nights free now.  My literacy learner has stopped coming.  She had some things going on in her life and kept cancelling and then skipping appointments.  I hope she gets things straightened around.  I am not sure if I would be working with her again or not if she comes back.  I probably will have another learner.  This tutoring stuff is hard, I have to say.

– Credit card rewards paying off in the form of a new TV for us.  The business card gets lots and lots of reward points, so John was able to use them for an Amazon gift certificate and he got something he has been wanting for a while.  Gotta love the free!

We hooked it up to see if it worked.  This is Pixie’s kitty babysitter DVD that plays birds and fish and gerbils.  It’s on her level here, so she was pretty happy.  Now I need to get that new TV stand.  I have been scouting my thrift shops for the perfect dresser, but no go so far.  I didn’t think the TV would come this soon!

– My shoulder is pretty much recovered from its sprain.  I still have some pain at the extremes of motion and with throwing motions, but it feels good. Lots of crunching and grinding in my shoulder now –  maybe because the joint is still lax?  However, my clavicle is still sticking out and looks like that is permanent.  Yay…not.   Now to get back to lifting again.

Tomorrow I will post the red beans and rice crock pot recipe.  It turned out quite good!  2 recipes down, 1 to go.

I’m glad you didn’t get rained on again! I managed to get out today after it rained all morning.
Pixie is such a sweetie pie!
    Candy corn mmmm…. yummo 🙂

Pixie says “thank you” for getting her that nice new TV. 😉

BTW, those rewards are how I got my nice camera last year. You definitely can’t beat free!!!

I think the nice and easy approach to running is great – after all, the duathlon isn’t for months, so you’ve got plenty of time to work your way up to it.

I love free stuff even more than candy corn! 🙂

My credit card reward points are hotel-based, so four nights of my vacation were free and I still have points left if I want a quick getaway. Love the free, indeed!

Oh my gosh, look at Pixie sitting in front of the TV, love it! Bella does that too when she hears or see cats or dogs or other animals on TV.

Cool TV, I can totally see why your happy with it. Will be nice watching the football games (of which John of course loses all the picks) on that.

You are running, period! No matter if it’s different than the Lori running 1.0 version. You’re doing it and that counts.

A cat babysitter DVD?? Who would ever have thought such a thing existed? Then again, I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised. I have an Amazon reward card too – had to convince Ben to get one since he’d just use a debit card. I’ve gotten tons of free stuff over the years and Ben paid for a flight to California last year with his reward points. It’s awesome!

That photo of Pixie watching her DVD is adorable. You’re making me want a kitty!

You are going to really enjoy your new TV – free makes it even more enjoyable, right?

No candy corn in the house – I know it is not a good thing for me to have it here! 😉 Did get some pumpkin bagels though! 🙂

I use to tutor for the literacy council but I stopped doing it when I found how things were going with that stuff now. When I first started the literacy council was for people to come to them and ask for help. But as they wanted more funds they started going out and trying to recruit learners. What that meant was people were signing up that were often talked into it and not really doing it for themselves. So I started getting stood up a LOT. So I made the decision to stop tutoring. Previous to that I really loved it and had several really great students. I’m hoping since then they have changed back to the old way of doing things of having people come to them for help. I just think then people are more motivated to stick with it when they want it for themselves.

I love love Pixie’s pink nose! 🙂 Are you going to be doing FBB again or did you finish it already?

I’m starting the last phase soon. I’m much stronger then when I began the program.

OH Lori, I LOVE LOVE the Pixie pictures. We bought Neva the “Birds Gone Wild” DVD, thinking she’d love to watch it. She actually couldn’t have been more disinterested, but Dennis and I were mezmerized for a bit longer than we should have been. “oooh…we’re back in the park…look at THAT bird”. We still laugh at ourselves over that one! Have a great day.

You are SO brave to ride in the cold. My feet FREEZE when it’s below 50!
As for that Pixie…WHAT A CUTIE! I just want to kiss that face 🙂
