Boo! And October Wrap Up

Happy Halloween!  You all know why I like this sign, right?

It was raining this morning, so no biking for Wednesday bagels.  We decided to go to Panera Bread for the first time in a loooong time for a change.  They have pumpkin pie bagels!!  Wow!

Yum.  I wonder if this is in place of the gingerbread bagel?

Drizzly start to the day, eh?

I can’t believe it is the end of the month.  Then again, I think I say that every month.  Here were my goals for October:

1. No weight gain.  I just squeaked by on this, although the scale was a little lower earlier in the month, so that was sobering. Given all the candy corn, though – I am lucky.

2.  Finish the flooring.  Done and dancing around on the floors. Love!! Yay!

3.  Make and post 3 crockpot recipes.  Done. Cinnamon Chicken (I liked, John didn’t), Red Beans and Rice (winner), Potato and Corn Chowder (winner)

4. Eat more vegetables.  Complete and utter fail, unless candy corn counts as a vegetable – then I have done stellar. I haven’t even been eating my usual amount of broccoli.

5. Post a pink picture for every post. I think I only missed one or two posts.  Hopefully a lot of people clicked through and helped give those free mammograms!

Now to get some new goals lined up for November!

The little kids had their parade up the street in costume today.

I would have zoomed in, but I didn’t want to get any faces of the kids on film.  I think this one is popcorn – very cute, although how she sat in class I have no idea.

They go up the street and then back to school.  Very cute.

I was inspired for my latte after seeing the parade:

Can you read the “Boo”?

Time to get  greeting the candy monsters!  Have a happy and safe Halloween everyone.

The very last pink picture of October! My piggy bank

I managed to get enough pink things without resorting to my undies or Pixie’s litter pan, so consider yourself lucky!

Hard to believe pink month is over – it went fast!

We finally have a Panera in town, but I haven’t been there yet, as it’s been PACKED. But pumpkin pie bagels? I may have to squeeze in!

Yeah – let those crowds die down. We always wait to try new places because they are soooo busy at first. Panera is good, but not worth big crowds. Or go at an off time.

I know – it’s just regular candy corn, too. I never want the pumpkins or indian corn or caramel apple candy corn. Just straight up, no chaser.

You did great with your goals.
Dare I say candy corn isn’t that popular here (that’s o.k more for you)
If only I could find the great bagels that you do (then again for me probably a good thing!)
Hope you had a great night!!

Time flies, two months left and this year is over. Seems to go faster once you get older, don’t you think?

We don’t have Panera in Holland but Subway is growing more and more here. Think they opened one in the next town, might going to check it out someday.

I used to eat at subway a lot (I worked at one in college, too). I actually don’t care for their sandwiches any more – very processed tasting.

      1. Fran

I might try it someday. I don’t know if the way the make the sandwiches here is the same as in the US. If so and they taste processed, I won’t be a fan either.

    OK
    so
DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THE SOAKING OF CANDY CORN IN VODKA?!
how had I never heard of this?! although I dont drink 🙂 so theres that, but people soak, strain EAT *and* drink!

I have seen gummy bears soaked in vodka – they get all puffy! That’s blasphemy on the candy corn, though.

I saw the pumpkin pie bagels when I was on vacation, but I never got around to trying them. (I didn’t think they’d pair well with a fuji apple chicken salad. 🙂

Good month on the goals! I didn’t do as well with the veggies either.

Lori, I got some pumpkin bagels from my local bagel shop but not Panera. I think the gingerbread from Panera show up closer to Xmas.. I HOPE – they are delish!

Such adorable pics of the kids!!!! CUTE!

Congrats on your goals – well, almost minus the veggies… you did good anyway!

Got to love the candy corn!

Eating candy corn + no weight gain makes you a rock star in my book! We like Panera but rarely make it there for some reason. I particularly like their Pecan Sticky Bun. Has to be a treat though as the calories are out of sight on that. I agree with what you told Shelley – it’s fine but not worth giant crowds!

Neva is VERY jealous that Pixie’s litterbox is pink! 🙂 yay on hitting most of the October goals. And AWWWW out loud at the parade!!! Have a great Thursday, and HAPPY NOVEMBER LORI!!

Still so jealous of all the kids in your neighborhood!! I think you did great with your goals – upping my veggie intake is high on my November list too!
