Being productive

Saturday John and I brought Billy to the mall for an adoption event.  It was very crowded.  It felt really weird seeing business as usual  and how life continues to go on knowing how the people in CT had their lives turned upside down.

There were 5 kitties at the adoption event sponsored by the group that is helping me to rehome Billy.  This event is to get the kitties out in view for people to see and to help raise money for the group.  No kitties actually go to new homes at the event because they have to fill out applications and such.  There was interest in Billy, so we will see if anyone calls to start the adoption process.  He deserves a good home.

He handled it pretty well, although he was not the big purr machine that he is at home.  I wish he had been his super friendly self, but at least he wasn’t hissing and freaking out.  He was just quiet.  As soon as we got home with him, he came right out of the carrier and was rolling around and purring  🙄

John took me out for lunch for my football meal (finally!) while Billy was doing his thing.  I chose Rockhill Bakehouse.  Beverage of sparkling water by a pretty Christmas flower.

I had the grown up grilled cheese, which is one of my favorite sandwiches there.  Grilled cheese with pesto on semolina bread.

I chose an apple as my side instead of chips – go me!

I bought something fun at the mall.  I finished up the last bit of Christmas shopping, too.  May as well finish it there when I had to pick Billy up to make dealing with all those crowds worthwhile, seeing as you all know how much I love crowds.  Anyway, I bought nail polish!  Look how festive!

Now I can sing Goldfinger and mean it

I also found something at Target I thought was just an internet rumor:

I’ve been trying to find these for a couple years and lo and behold – there they were!  So I got them.  I kind of like them, too.  For a poptart anyway.

I had to show you a picture of one of our favorite places to go.  This is Coffee Planet, which opened about a year ago.  They have another location in Ballston Spa, which is 20 miles from us, so we don’t go there too often.  It felt so homey in there this weekend.  I would love a living room like this.

Sitting in here is so cozy and wonderful.

This was  a weekend where I got so much done.  Don’t you love times like that?  I did deep cleaning (monthly goal), finished Christmas shopping *and* got all the presents wrapped, freed up a slow moving drain, lots of laundry and some good relaxing in (Go Broncos!!).

Today’s ornament:

This is another one that I made.  I need to do these again.

Tomorrow is a busy day and some snow coming, too.

It is amazing how life just goes on…I know when someone close to me passes away it feels like the whole world should stop and take notice…even for just a second or the world stop spinning …but no …life goes on…i just hope people don’t take drastic actions with gun control…..the only thing that will do is stop the honest people from getting guns the ones that shouldn’t have them will get them anyway……….

Wow, Billy is so impressive. To go from being a practically feral cat to being quiet at a mall full of people!! I hope he finds a good home. Although I think he already has one LOL.

Oh my that cheese sandwich looks heavenly. And apple and cheese seems a perfect pairing. I would want my apple peeled and sliced though. Not that I’m picky or anything…

I never paint my fingernails. But now I want gold ones! and I think I have the polish already! I think my hands look too old but my BF says that the polish distracts attention away from old hands. We’ll see…

I used to love the cinnamon pop tarts. So I’m sure the pumpkin ones are great as well.

And I would love a coffee shop around here that looked like that. We have a kind of nice one, but its actually another town away, so like 25 miles I think. A little too far to go for coffee. On the good side, we have a coffee shop right in my little town that has fantastic coffee. The atmosphere is not fancy, but its nice and friendly.

Wow. Sorry bout that. I was extra chatty tonight!

I think John cringed a little at you writing Billy has a good home 😀

He deserves to have a good inside home like Pixie has with laps and probably some other cats to play with. He was fine around the others at the adoption clinic.

My polish is fun, but I always feel like when I wear polish on short nails, it makes my hands look fat LOL!

You finally found the pumpkin pie Pop Tarts! I remember you writing about them a couple of years ago – glad they lived up to your long-awaited expectations! 🙂

Did you find yourself being a bit protective over the people who looked at Mr. Bill? Of course you know, I’m with Debby in thinking he has a wonderful home already…

I am protective of Billy and I actually did not stay for most of the clinic because I didn’t want to hover over him. At least the group I am working with vets out the prospective owners to ensure a good home. It just might take a while.

Pumpkin pop tarts -I had no idea they made such a thing!

Nice nails Lori and so festive for the holidays. You really got a lot done this weekend. I hope Billy gets a good adoption home soon. It’s great that you have been his Foster mom!

I hope Billy finds a lovely home soon although (to be honest) I think he should stay with you and John 🙂

I can’t remember ever seeing you wear nailpolish: cool color! Funny that I even made a reminder in my phone to do my own nails Thursday too for my Christmas party at work Friday.

I tried to respond on your Friday post but got an error. Here in Holland it’s all over the news too and it’s devestating and so, so sad. I feel for the families who have lost their loved ones.

I don’t wear nail polish. I actually used to have long acrylic nails and the whole 9 yards, but not any more. With a job of typing, the click, click, click would drive me insane. Plus I need short nails for guitar playing. I was saying to Debby how I think the polish on my short nails makes my fingers look stubby, which is one reason I don’t do them. But I guess I am having a midlife thing going on? 😀

I am with Satu & Miz too! 🙂 Love that nail polish Lori!!!

OK, you got so much done!! I did do a bunch of stuff before my sis hit town so at least I can say I did do some deep cleaning at some point in time! 😉

I used to eat pop tars as a kid & have not tried in years. I am afraid too – that I will still love them! 😉

    LOVE your coffee house!

You know I’m a nail polish freak so I love your gold fingers! For the past couple of months I’ve been wearing my nails much shorter now and I’m actually enjoying it.

Billy’s family is out there for sure, hopefully they found him this weekend!

Thanks for sharing all the beautiful holiday sights you’re seeing, and your ornaments.

I have weather locations saved for all the blog friends I’ve visited in person, so I’d already noticed you were expecting snow. Doesn’t seem right when it’s 62 degrees here. We walked outside today with only long sleeves, no coast at all.

Billy seems like such a sweetie. (I’d take him but I don’t live anywhere near you and my cat hates everyone).

I love that pic with the flower and the blue bottle, the colors really pop.

You are apparently ‘on trend’ with those nails Lori. Short nails, according to some fashion expert on the telly yesterday are the way to go. Long talons are just so last week. I actually like the look of short nails and the polish does not chip so easily.

wanted to share we saw the FROSTED PUMPKIN PIE yesterday
the child asked what that was 🙂
    I hurried her along….
    I rock that way 🙂

I haven’t had a pop tart in ages, but I’d have a pumpkin one!! I love sitting at coffee houses like that – sadly the only coffee places we have are Starbuck’s – I like the vibe of yours better!
