Cookies and closets!

Another busy weekend.  I worked Saturday morning until lunch time.  I won’t be working on Tuesday and I don’t know if there will be any clinics open tomorrow, so I grabbed some work on Saturday.  Then John requested his football meal out at a new place that opened up called Ambrosia Diner.
This is right off the Northway and they did it up right!  It was super busy, too.  I snuck a picture when the table opened up next to us so I wouldn’t get anybody in my photo.

You all know my favorite diner food – the omelet (breakfast all day)!  This was a feta cheese omelet.

It was very good, although I have to say the toast was anemic.  The meal was piping hot, which surprised me considering how busy they were.  They are open 24 hours, too!  I noted there was an espresso machine, so we might have to give that a try some time.

We also did cookie baking.  I did my every popular nutmeg logs and pistachio buttons.
John made cranberry bliss bars that are even better than those at Starbucks! I will have to have him give me the link to the recipe he used.
I know, right??? Amazing!

Then my favorite thing we did this weekend.  Installing closet doors!  When we moved into our house 6 years ago, there were no closet doors in any of the bedrooms.  We put some in our bedroom, but the guest bedroom as been just open for display to any of our guests LOL.

This was one of the niggling things that drove me nuts, but it was just a project we kept putting aside. Not sure why because it is a very easy project. I know we all have one of those projects.

I practice guitar in this room every day, so I think it bothered me more than John.  It was a lovely view.

Not even an hour later and we had this:

Our house is horribly unsquare, so we can only adjust the doors so much, but I am so, so happy!  And for $130 for wooden doors, that’s a good bargain.

Now to choose paint colors for this room.  These are taped to the wall right now to decide, but I think we are leaning to one of the 2 with the arrows.

I gathered up the family presents to take downstairs and put under the tree in preparation for Monday. Came back with more and found this.  Pixie decided she wants to be wrapped up under the tree:

She’s so cute that it is hard to get mad at her.

Not sure what work will be done tomorrow, but the family comes over for dinner which John and I host, so lots of cooking (and eating) Monday!

Today’s ornament?

Another rare tuba find for John 😀

Merry Christmas and Happy Festivus to everyone!

Wow,great job on the closet doors. Looks like a professional installation. I vote for the blue paint. Always a winner in my book although we currently have rooms in both of those colors. Our guest bedroom is the burgandy (or whatever you are calling that one and my office is a blue similar to that. Be sure and post pics.

You two are so amazing with the remodeling and house projects! Those doors make a huge difference. I tend to like the warmer colors and go for more neutral, tans, beige and warm tones but that’s just me.

Your baked goods look delicious. Since I didn’t do any baking this year I am drooling over everyone elses!

    Enjoy your holiday fun!

Love the doors. They put doors like that in the one closet in my house, and I love them.

For some reason I love the warm caramel (oh, that’s the reason LOL) colors in the top column.

You guys are cookie baking machines! No cookie baking for me this year. I am not adverse to eating a few of them though…

Oh my! We just ate dinner at that diner. I was surprised to see a new business there. That seems like a prime location. Many years ago, it was a Howard Johnson’s, with a motel attached.

I think their menu is way too large, but I hope they succeed. I had a Cuban Panini, and I have had better ones. We will probably go back and try their breakfast.

It is a good location for a diner like that. Way better than the run down empty HoJos. They tore that down last year.

I thought the prices were very reasonable except the pasta and seafood, which were really high (IMHO).

please consider the lightest copper color…would make a lovely room. I love your blog. Mary in Cincinnati

You and John are quite the bakers! Everything looks delicious. I’m with Debby – I didn’t bake anything this year (self-preservation) but I’m not opposed to eating a treat or two…

What a wide range of paint colors! I’d go with the gray, but then, that’s what I’m planning on painting our bedroom/bathroom with, so I might be a bit biased. The doors came out great – really changes the look of the room!

I swear you are living in my house twin. No closet doors at my house either and it’s a project that is just begging to be done. Only thing is we don’t have the nice opening that you have so we’re going to have to use traditional doors rather than the slatted folders you have there.

I like the blue-gray color for that room. I think it’s more neutral for accessorizing and decorating.

Enjoy your time with family – Merry Christmas!

Our third bedroom has a closet like that that needs a regular door to be put in. The framing is there, so is is just a frameless door to put on. Ironically, the biggest bedroom has the smallest closet. We were actually thinking of building out that closet into the room some, so we haven’t put a door on it yet.

OK, I have to admit that I went looking for cookie pics before I read the post Lori! 😉

What a cute diner & yum food!!!

All your home projects make me feel so deficient in that realm — I am so NOT that but yours looks beautiful!

    LOVE PIXIE!!!!!

Are we voting on room color? I like the lavender-ish (on my monitor), and I’m not just saying that because I almost painted my spare bedroom that color! 🙂

That cranberry thing looks awesome! Wish I’d seen that before I prepared my other stuff. I’ll just bookmark it for next year. LOL

To me, Pixie looks like she’s saying, “Put a bow on me and you will die.”
