Yet more snow.

I woke up this morning to extreme quiet. You know that quiet when snow has blanketed outside and it muffles all the sound?  Yep – more snow.  That meant shoveling.

But first, breakfast!  I made up some pumpkin oat bran to get started with the day. Doesn’t this look like a winter scene?

Shoveling would be a 2-parter today since we had to clear the 6 inches or so that fell overnight before any deliveries/pickups come to the house.

These boots not retired for spring yet.

Yuck.  This was all bare ground yesterday.

I was hungry when I got inside.

Have to eat them in 3s for whatever reason.   It feels weird when I don’t.

Work was busy today, thank goodness.  Gotta start thinking about a car payment now.  I’ll take all the work I can get.

Quick break for lunch.  This is greek yogurt, blueberry sauce and Kashi cinnamon hearts.

Yesterday I ate grain free. Today, obviously not

Then it was out to shovel more.  I measured the snow that fell on the porch.

A prediction that actually came true. They said 8 to 12 inches and there we ended up between (and not done yet).

How is a girl supposed to bike with this stuff???

It was  a good day for being inside and working.  John brewed up the lattes.

I feel like my life is overrun with technology cords.  Does anyone else feel this way?  You can’t see it, but there are also 3 cords coming out of my laptop. one for power, one for the foot pedal and one for my headset.  It’s like a deathtrap extricating myself from my chair.

We didn’t do so well with meal planning this week, so that meant falling back on old staples:

There is some laughing cow underneath the BBQ turkey.  I bet this would be good to do as chili, although that would mean making a batch of chili…

I can’t believe it is spring in a day.

This is all the snow piled up. In the background, the snow goes half way up the side of the garage. The neighbor over there has his driveway plowed straight back, which is perpendicular with our garage.  That area is on the north side and doesn’t get much sun, so it take forever to melt.

It is snowing as I speak right now.  Our winter storm warning ends at 8 pm and I bet we will have close to a foot when it is all said and done.  Close enough anyway.

I’ll be staying in with some tea and a square of this stuff.

I have found these squares are perfect when I want something sweet and fruit isn’t cutting it.  It’s not like the chocolate chips that John likes to have (and I get in trouble with) because I have much more control over the portion.

Come on Spring!!  Behave!

I LOVE those ghirardelli squares. The 72% cacao ones take a long time to melt in my mouth (after I break them into fourths)and I get to savor it longer! I get in trouble with the ones like the mint with the cream filling. I cannot STOP. Chocolate is definitely my weakness, in all shapes and forms.

There is something about mints that is so satisfying and makes me content with one. I love the trader joe’s ones that are made with dark chocolate and honey. Sorry about the snow. I won’t talk about the weather here…

Have been following your blog for a few weeks now and trying to get up the gumption to start yet another weight loss plan. I am so amazed at your progress, your blog is just fantastic and tonight I was looking at your section on veggies which is so very helpful. I have always struggled with veggies and if your blog and your list of veggies with the way you prepared them, doesn’t inspire me to start my own weight loss plan, I don’t know what will. I’m in Southwest Michigan and we have had MORE than our share of snow this winter as well. Hope it is gone for both of us. See that you are a transcriptionist; I am also – I do medical transcription from home and have for quite a few years. You are right about the sitting all day working and especially about the “no type, no money” comment! Thanks for a great inspirational blog.

Ridiculous that snow, as I said on FB too, the word shoveling should be out of our dictionary from March till at least November. That being said: snow is predicted here too today but not as much as you had to deal with. Good heavens, when does Spring start?

And you’re not weird about the clementines. I saw them just now and am going to eat them after finishing this comment and guess how many I brought to work? Yes, 3.
I eat them in pairs of 3 too.

Enough with the snow already! At least it’s sunny here at the moment and it’s cosy inside because I cleaned for 2 hours yesterday (I had to because I was having visitors).

Pixie looks perfectly happy chilling out on the foot rest(?). And yes, my home is overrun with cords. It’s wonder I don’t trip on them more often than I do!

HOLY CRAP – enough winter for you guys!!!! I guess my bitching about low 60’s has to stop! 😉

OMG – the Kashi cereal is crack to me – I don’t bring it in the house! 😉

Lots of cords here too & I am maneuvering around them as I tpye@

    Pixie looks content! 😉

–sigh– Snow always makes me sad especially at this time of year! We have a heat wave coming through in a couple days – temps in the high 30’s woo! 😉

Here’s hoping it all melts away as fast as it came!

I love the early morning/late evening quiet that comes with a snowfall. Of course, I get to experience that only about every 3 years or so and even then, it’s likely to be about 3 inches or less.

    Wishing you a speedy melt!

Holy Snowdrift!!! That is a lotta snow.
“Dear Mother Nature. Knock it off. Yours in support of my blog friend Lori, Roz”
May your thaw come quickly, may your lattes still foam, and may you and John not trip over any power cords. (we have them everywhere too)
    Stay warm Lori, take care!

I am so sorry for all the snow Lori! Gah! We still have arctic air – this morning? 13 degrees, but felt like -6 degrees – on the first day of spring!

  11. Sharon

Ditto what everyone else has said about the snow….we’ve had so little this year. Nice thing for me is on a clear day, I can look up at the mountains and SEE snow without having to deal with it.

So totally with you on the cords. I told Bill when we were packing for last year’s trip that before long, I’d need a bigger area for cords than for our underwear. And since then, I’ve added even more.

  12. Alissa

I am so tired of the snow! It’s spring now…where is the nice weather? I like those Chocolate squares too. They’re small, but rich and satisfying.
