Weekend Ride and March Wrap Up!

50 degrees means bike riding!  I only needed a few layers today.  😀   I dare anyone not to notice me in these colors!

I wanted to get in a 20 mile ride today.  Need to ramp up mileage fast if I am going to get in 2500 this year.    The gravel part of the bike path is still soggy, so it was mostly road riding.  Lovely intersection near the path.

Then John took the lead and went where I wasn’t thrilled about going.  Too much traffic on this road in the afternoon for me.  Normally we ride this early Sunday morning when we bike to Panera Bread and it is pretty empty.  Not on a Saturday afternoon.

After getting into Queensbury, we hooked onto the paved bike path.

This was our turn around spot.  Mile 9.  I was ready to go further, but John wanted to turn around and head for a snack 😀  You just can’t resist this face.

We road back to Glens Falls and hit up Coffee Planet at mile 12!  A 20 mile ride earned me an espresso brownie 😀

Love longer ride days

New artwork on the walls.

I think this is sort of a cross between Picasso and Tim Burton.

More path riding homeward.  This is what we call the Sprinkles bridge because at the bottom of the hill is Sprinkles ice cream (open for the season).

 Ride stats:

Total miles:  20.3

Average speed:  12.4 mph

Top speed:  20.3 mph

Calories burned:  590  (hello brownie!!)

Longest ride of the year so far.  Not quite ready to go to Saratoga yet, but I think a Lake George ride is coming soon – weather permitting.

Now, how did I do on those monthly goals?

1.  Purge closet – Fail. Again. Two months in a row.  We will just shelve this for now 😀

2. Get my bike outside.  Pretty obvious that this happened.  Almost 50 miles this month and Sunday still with some ride time, most likely.  Yay!

3. Moving in March.  I did pretty well with this.  Lots of walking and bike riding.

4. Planning meals.  We did this, but it is really hard, I have to say.  I imagine it gets easier the more you do it. It did get us to try more recipes, though!

5. Grain-Free days.  I did this pretty well.  I did keep a good check on calories, so my eating was actually quite good this month except for a bit of over snacking at the beginning.

Pretty decent March.  Now to find some goals for April!

Monday is an AIM post, so stay tuned 😀

Your ride sounds like fun. I’m currently recuperating from a broken femur (had to get it pinned) so I am living vicariously through you Lori 🙂

It looks like a very tall bear is leaning against a tree behind John (to the right of the sign!) Or maybe my meds are kicking in…

I enjoy your monthly goal listings & wrap ups. I now do that because of you. Thanks.

    Wishing you & John well,
    Molly

I am so glad you are having some warmer weather for bike riding. I don’t think I would like to be on that busy street either – you have to worry about the people driving the cars and hope they are paying attention!

I am quite happy to exercise for treats and that brownie looks delicious.

Ah, I know that bridge and I totally know Sprinkles!!! So excited you got to ride. I hiked today and that felt great too!

LOL at your comment “590 calories burned–hello brownie!” That’s just the way it goes, isn’t it. An expresso brownie sounds totally worthy!

So glad you got good weather for a ride!

why Why WHY cant you live close to me?????? WHHHHHHYYYYYYY?!?! I love to ride my bike. The longest ride I went on was 42 miles. all……. by……..myself 🙁 🙁 That was two years ago. Didnt do a ton of riding last year cuz its just not much fun alone…..whoa is me lolol Unfortunately my husband does not share my love for biking. I took him on one ride that was 16 miles (easy flat road) and the whinning was way more then I could handle! Anyway love the pics. I guess I will live vicariously through you 🙂

I actually enjoy riding alone. I love riding with John, but I ride more than he does, so I got used to going out alone. Lots of thinking time 😀

I want to go on Sprinkles Bridge…totally sounds like something out of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! Glad you had a great ride and a yummy treat!

So happy you got outside to enjoy your bike ride Lori!!!! You are getting closer to when you can ride all the time again! Let’s hope the snow is gone for good! 🙂

SOOO happy that you and John are able to get out and get riding. I hear you about the closet thing. 🙂 There just always seems to be other things more pressing. Like this month’s Bon Appetite, or contemplating the meaning of life or the circumference of my navel. Have a great week Lori!!

I’ve been planning my meals for the past 18 years. Now my routine is that I pick a few cook books during the week and write down the recipes I might want to make. That gives me a list of recipes. Then at Saturday or Sunday I sit down and make a meal plan and grocery list. This is my new routine (before I didn’t pick the cook books at first) and so far I’ve been making more recipes than the first 10 weeks of this year.

Great to see you out riding again. We all know how much you love it and personally I can’t wait to see all the great bike rides (including cup cakes) this season.
