Body weight exercises

Dreary, dreary day today.  Cold, too.  It didn’t even get to 40 degrees.  Hopefully this will clear out for tomorrow so we can do some riding!

A good day for protein waffles:

It was a also good day to play some afternoon hooky and go for coffee and a bit of reading.

John let me snag bites of his cookie, too.  Bonus!

Here is the body weight workout I did today.  I keep forgetting to post these.  Oopsie!

  • Standing side leg raise – 3 sets of 10 each leg
  • Planks – Three sets of 30 second holds
  • Step ups (using my stairs) – 3 sets of 10 each leg
  • Pushups – 3 sets of 10
  • Bridge – 3 sets of 10
  • Triceps dips – 3 sets of 10
  • Pliet squats – 3 sets of 10

This took about 15 minutes. I do not like the triceps dips.  They aggravate my shoulder.  The good news is that the pushups do not bother my shoulder very much – yay!

Time to relax for the evening and hope this rain passes through.  Have a great weekend!

Yum yum to the waffles. And yum yum to the afternoon coffee break with reading and bits of cookie!

You know, if it wasn’t for the pool, I think I could quit the gym and do body weight exercises and walking intervals at home. Sure would save a lot of time (and money.)

I have the bowflex and weights at home, but I do miss the barbell. I don’t care about swimming, which is why after my triathlon I switched to a cheaper gym that didn’t have a pool 😀 If we didn’t have the new car payment, I would probably rejoin my cheap gym. I may still do that, but I want to settle into the new payments and see how it feels.

Nice workout! I read an article recently that declared the tri-dip as “worthless” and possibly a cause of future rotator cuff problems. That was all I needed to read! LOL (Of course, the article suggested triangle push-ups, which I’m conveniently ignoring.)

hope you get some riding weather, Lori!

I really like body weight exercises. They feel more efficient…Like it’s building muscles that I need for normal day to day life as opposed to focusing on one muscle.

Your breakfast always looks so yummy 🙂 wish I was ambitious enough to get out the waffle iron sometimes. I have so much catching up to do on your blog sorry I’ve been missing. Will be in your neck of the woods again next month so hope we can meet up again for coffee. Kevin will be headed somewhere else so will probably be my last time up there. I think body weight exercises really help shape the upper body. I’ve been doing a lot more the past 8 weeks and I see a huge difference in my shoulder and arm definition. I’ve decided for awhile I’m going to stick with more body weight and small hand weights instead of the heavier weights and see how it continues. Hope the weather warms up for you soon it’s been really beautiful here this past week I think Spring has finally gotten here.

Nice workout Lori! Don’t do the triceps anymore I’d say, plenty of other things to do.

We had amazing weather yesterday but looking outside at the moment, it’s raining again (hmmmm sounds like the title of a song LOL )
