Good eats and riding

Thanks so much for the feedback on the AIM posts!  You don’t have to necessarily agree with someone’s opinion, which is a good thing and a wonderful way to open up dialogue on a topic!   I also wanted to point out that even though my weight has been pretty stable over the last few years, it is not particularly easy for me.  It is easier than it was at first, but not ever really easy.  I always have to be vigilant now and in the future, which is a bit depressing to think about sometimes.   I don’t miss being obese at all, but to be perfectly honest, I miss all the food I used to eat without thinking about it.  Food is fun for me and I did enjoy eating with abandon. It’s just the price I paid for that abandon that sucked.

How I eat now sure is different!

Using up pantry staples per the monthly goals, I am working my way through the hot cereals.  This is cream of wheat with egg whites whisked in, topped with almond butter and 1 tablespoon of special dark chips.

Sort of a reeses, but not really.  😀

I always seem to get hungry mid morning, even with a bigger breakfast (which this wasn’t), so I grabbed some fruit.

We have been having lots of warm weather lately.  Guess it is making up for a cold start to spring?  I have been wanting more yogurt lately, so I turned to my staple, which is plain greek yogurt with apple/cranberry topping.

Eaten at my work chair, as usual.  Some habits just never go away.  Work has just been so busy that I have been eating at my chair.

I know I have been remiss with the Pixie photos, so here are a couple.  Sacked out:

Then I set my cup on the table next to the couch to take a picture of my snack.

This got her unsettled.

We say she looks frumpled when she is like this, which is kind of a cross between rumpled and frowsy.

Patented stir fry  of chicken, broccoli and pineapple for dinner.  In fact, it is so patented that I had it last night, too!   😀

Full accounting and I had this while dinner was cooking:

Oops.

Free evening for both of us and with gorgeous weather, time for a ride!  Part of the bike path was resurfaced, which is really nice.  It’s firmer packed and doesn’t have a the sharp pieces of cinder that gave us flats before.

It’s nice to ride on now.  The canal is looking pretty good, too.

I’m settling in for my snack in a bit.  I started the day with a bit of chocolate and I will end the day with a bit of chocolate 😀

I know it isn’t Friday and What’s Blooming, but I thought I would share a pic I took last night of the garden.

There are even more tulips blooming today.  It’s like an explosion out there!

Maintenance isn’t easy for me either, but so much better than the alternative. I miss eating whatever I like, too. I definitely like feeling better though.
    Your bike path is gorgeous!
I look forward to your what’s blooming posts. So glad it’s spring!

I believe that maintenance is much harder than losing weight because it’s something one has to do the rest of his/her life. And thinking about that can freak me out sometimes too.

What a lovely ride, it’s beautiful to bike there and the flowers in the garden are so pretty.

I have such garden envy when you post your pictures. So pretty!! How terrific that they resurfaced your biking path a bit. We have HUGE potholes on the road I would bike on if I biked to work, so I’m hoping they take care of those soon so I can get started.

heeeeyyyy now. How ya gonna post that amazing delicious picture of that stir fry and not tell me how to cook it 🙂 remember be gentle…I don’t cook. Hopefully I will get the “all-clear” soon and I can start getting in some bike rides as well. You make me so envious when I see your biking pics. Thanks for your blog. I truly love it!

It’s very easy. One teaspoon coconut oil to saute the broccoli in. When it is about done, throw in some cooked chicken and fresh pineapple and a tablespoon or so of any stir fry sauce. Voila – dinner in about 10 minutes!

I think frumpled is an excellent description of Pixie! And me, this morning. 🙂

You know, if you added a bit of coconut or coconut oil to that breakfast concoction, you’d have yourself an Almond Joy. Just sayin’. 🙂

I was <> this close to putting coconut on there, but it wasn’t toasted and I didn’t want to wait LOL!

I am envious of spouses who work out/bike ride together. My husband has bad arthritis in both knees so walking is pretty painful. Glad you guys enjoy your free time together though!

PIXIE LOVE!!!!!!!!!! Even frumpled, Pixie love!!! I did not want to ask for pics since I always do & you may think I come for her but I come over her for you too! 🙂

This: I always have to be vigilant now and in the future, which is a bit depressing to think about sometimes. LORI – yes, I get this & it is for life – the thing that trips people up the most – it is just life & it is up to people & their choices as to how important it is to them to keep the weight off. Can’t go back to eating like before & keep the weight off cause that is what got us heavy in the first place! 😉

So happy for your ride days being back since I know ho much you love to ride – beautiful pics!

I love following spring on the years that we head north on our summer trip because I get to se tulips again and again. Thought of you today when I passed through NYC on the north side and saw the interstate sign telling me that with only a little over 100 extra miles I could detour by your place. But you would’ve been out biking and I’d have missed you!

I love the idea of stir-frying the pineapple, too. Excellent idea! Grilled chicken gets boring, and that would definitely jazz it up.

My eyes rest on the Pixie pictures, thanks for including them. 🙂

I love your tulips! We finally have spring in Finland too. It was about time.

I LOVE YOUR FULL ACCOUNTING—thats where so many of us get tripped up.
    forgetting the full accountage 🙂
