August Wrap Up!

I know you are expecting a What’s Blooming post, but it’s the end of the month and I needed to wrap this up before our trip!

I will share this cool cloud photo, though!

Here were my goals for August and how I did:

1. Cook some new Indian dishes.  I was planning on doing 3, but only ended up doing 2.  Chana Masala and the Aloo Gobi.

2. Lose 4 pounds – Nope.  I lost 1, which is statistically a wash since it could be back up tomorrow.  I have this maintenance thing down, but not the losing LOL!  I was doing 4 no grain days a week and then the scale wasn’t moving, so I added grains to other days and dropped the pound this week. Go figure. 🙄

3. More strength training.  I was not so good with this.  I am just doing too much biking to really do much.  I will just do lighter workouts and focus on heavier lifting when the biking season winds down.

4. Less complaining.  I think I have been doing really well here.  It helps that my work stress has gone down a lot lately.

5.  Finishing up some projects.  I didn’t finish too many projects.  One was to make a houseplant area, which I have here.

The chest we open up twice a year, once to take out the good china for Christmas dinner and once to put it away, so I am using it for the base.  I did find a use for that ammo box! 😀  I need to accessorize a little bit more with the white shelf, but it’s nice.  John said it was like a plant shrine.

Can you believe we are on to September already??

I like your cat statue in the plant shrine…oh wait! 😉

You know, you’re doing excellent at maintenance. Why not be happy with that instead of trying to lose a few more pounds? Just a thought.

I see you also added a kitty buddha to that plant shrine 😉

Have you ever considered just letting more weight loss go? You are beautiful and fit and seem to be very happy. You know how to manage right where you are. I know it’s hard to let go of a dream weight/size, but honestly, to me, you are doing an excellent job here. In fact, I want to be like you when I grow up!

I’m just amazed that Pixie is there in that little space, and all the plants are still where they’re supposed to be. That cloud is beautiful. I saw an amazing cloud the other day, but I was without my camera–I was so bummed!

Have a bunch of fun on your trip!

Really like the plant shrine – using what you have on hand. Great idea! Trip? Where is this trip taking you? Have a great Labor Day weekend!

I love the plant shrine, esp. with Pixie on it. I wonder why cats have the tendency to squeeze themselves in tight spaces? There must be a biological explanation to it.

Thanks for the book reviews in the last post. I was glad to hear you read a bodice ripper – I used to read them a lot as a teenager. 🙂

I’ve been reading Gretchen Rubin’s Happiness Project and am now seriously contemplating on starting my own project.

Always like the goal posts (you like my unintended football analogy?? LOL!). And always look forward to the next month’s goals. Success isn’t about whether or not you achieve all of them. It’s in the discipline of making the effort and forward progress. You always make progress.

You can never have too many cloud pictures!! And no, I cannot believe its September. I wish I could have house plants – I pretty much have a black thumb!
