Fall is here!

Fall is hitting with a vengeance!  Woke up to this temperature:

cold

We actually had to turn the heat on for the first time.  The house was at 61 degrees and it just wasn’t warming up, so we turned it on for a bit.  Stinky! I hate the first running of the furnace.

I had to let the temps warm up before riding today!  I worked until they got into the 50s and then went out for my ride.  There are a lot of frustrating things with my job, but one thing that I do love is being able to take advantage of a flexible schedule.  Now that cold weather is coming, I am going to have to do rides more in the middle of the day.  It is going to be too cold to go early and too dark to go after dinner.  I am very lucky that I can shift my hours to accommodate my rides.  That’s the only way I will be able to get to 2500 miles, if I get there.  It’s all weather dependent from here on out.

I use the little magic gloves that stretch out to go under my biking gloves when it is cold.

I am really hard on my cycling gloves, too.  I tend to grip the handlebars pretty hard, especially on hills, and I wear them out.

It was fairly brisk out.  😀  At least it was sunny.  Here is my usual picture point.

Everything is still nice and green.  There are a few early turners, but that’s about it for color.

Super bright! I look like a ghost 😀

Add another 10 miles to the tally now.

I also did a new nail design.  I posted this on facebook, so sorry for those that are seeing it again.

This is my new cheap hobby!

I love the stars on the nails! I’ve forwarded your nail blogs to my BF who is into decorating her nails. I can’t seem to stop handwork long enough to paint them and let them dry! I need to do it right before I got to church. That might work!

I’m glad you’re able to still get some of your rides in. Its going to be a long winter with no rides for you!

I don’t mind seeing them twice!

Fall is here too but we have had a lot of rain this and last week. I had planned a 10K walk last Saturday but it was raining so hard that I didn’t go. I don’t mind a little bit of rain but hard rain is no fun to walk in. Bella hates that and I’m not a fan either. Have a couple of more walks planned this Fall so hopefully I will be able to walk them in decent weather.

I was about to say it still looks very lush and green over there. Our fall has been uncharacteristically warm so far.

I’m not doing nail stamping yet, but I did buy colorless nail polish on Friday. I don’t usually bother with my nails because they are soft and flaky. I do feel neater though when I put on some nail polish.

Did you made that box for Pixie? Has she taken to it? I have a suspicion she might only accept it if you furnish it with that padded computer bag…. 🙂

I am testing the box now. I have it inside with a towel in it to see if she wants to use it before I go making it all fancy 😀

I’m loving our high temps that don’t get out of the 70s. Low’s so far have been in the 60s with a couple of nights last weekend in the upper 50s. Just about perfect as far as I’m concerned. Always look forward to your fall pics from NY.

I’m LOVING the fall-like weather right now! It makes great running weather. But I imagine it’s quite different on a bike, when you’re going faster and the wind is blowing in your face 😉 Your nails look great! I never paint my fingernails, because I can’t seem to keep it from chipping.

It is cold going faster. I will walk in a much colder temp that I will bike in. It compares to running into a wind at 12+ miles per hour.

As for nails chipping – get a good clear top coat. It makes all the difference.

Brrr… It’s cold for cycling. You sure are a die-hard. It’s tough to dress right for cycling when the weather gets cold. Your feet get cold and your hands get cold but when you push like all get out up a steep hill, everything heats up. Then you get cold again. Well, at least that’s my excuse 😉

    Love those nails, Lori!

I love your nails!! I often run later in the morning when it gets to be really cold out, that way I don’t freeze. I love the cold weather though. Fall is my favorite time of year. We are having nights in the low 50s, but it’s in the 70s during the day. We haven’t had to turn the heat on yet, but it’s pretty chilly in the house this morning. I think it was like 68 degrees.

I refuse to turn on heat until Oct 1st. Good thing hot shower is at 545 am then nice warm heater in the car for our 35 minute ride each morning into Saratoga.

    Luv the nails.

Is that the trail off Burgoyne? I have often wanted to walk/jog there and never take the time to drive over.

I know you will make your biking goal…we may still get a warm Oct with an “Indian summer” !
